Informative Speech  (Sept. 25/ Oct. 2)

The purpose of an informative speech is to provide information about a topic to the audience. These can be speeches about objects, processes, events, or concepts.

Think of the structure of your speech define the topic clearly (you may use a catchy opening phrase!); in the body of the speech create clear points, details, and facts about your topic if you quote a source you will need to acknowledge it, such as Wikipedia, Groves, etc; in the conclusion, quickly summarize your points. Use a strong conclusive statement that sums up your topic you may even use a quotation (be sure to credit the author if its not you!) You may use notecards (vs large pieces of paper). Do not read a prepared script.
