The American Psychological Association (APA) Code of Ethics and CITI Training and Institutional Review Boards (IRB) provide a high level of accountability for researchers. The code of ethics ranges from beneficence, respect, justice, and dignity while the CITI Training operationalizes how that occurs among research that involves human and animal subjects. IRBs evaluate risk and benefits to subjects, informed consent and self-determination.

While these governing or authoritative bodies are a significant part of research studies, within this course in which you will only develop a literature review, your ethical responsibility pertains to your ability to accurately represent your own original writing and to ethically represent other author’s words.
Respond

Discuss the importance of citing quotes, paraphrasing, and publication credit. Cite a source that describes some of the potential negative consequences to themselves and the public when a researcher plagiarizes? How might this impact the implications of what they published to the body of literature or the research area?
