Gakayla post:
o    Deterrence-consists of the public being aware of what will happen if they commit crimes, by seeing those who committed crimes being punished in public. The punishment would be severe and so harsh which will ensure that the person who committed the crime, not commit the crime again or anyone else who is thinking of committing a crime, would see the punishment. The overall method is to be harsh on criminals so that who are watching would be to scared to commit such act.
o    Incapacitation- this method was use to banished the criminal from the community due to their criminal activity. Incapacitation is based on the characteristics  of the criminal rather then the characteristics of the offense.  Incapaciation has a concepts selective incapacitation where the offenders  who repeat the same offense will be sentenced to longer person terms.
o    Rehabilitation-the goal is to rehabilitate the offender and make sure that the offender is rehabilitated to be a sportive and productive member of society. In the process of rehabilitation the goal is to be treated and return back to society as reformed.
o    Retribution-deals with the punishment the offender deserves after committing a crime. The mind set is ” eye for eye”. Retribution focused on offense and not the criminal futures. The criminal would be punished because the justice system requires it.

Introduction

One important area of application of Behavioural Science in the forensic arena is in crime prevention. Prevention means taking an antecedent approach to crime. This approach involves situational analysis, understanding the immediate triggers for criminal behaviour, and an analysis of the motives for criminal behaviour.

Based on your textbook, your assigned readings, and your class lectures and discussion, suggest crime prevention strategies for the following situation: an adult school shooting. Please incorporate primary, secondary, and tertiary crime prevention strategies. For each strategy you suggest, explain which of these three categories it falls into. You must suggest at least one strategy for each of these three categories

From a behavioural perspective, the most effective strategies are those that increase the effort required to commit a crime, increase the risks involved in committing a crime, reduce the reward  derived from committing the crime, reduce the stimuli or provoking triggers for engaging in criminal behaviour, and remove the excuses for committing criminal behaviour (Brantingham, Brantingham, & Taylor, 2005).  Please relate the crime prevention strategies you suggest to these constructs. For each strategy you suggest, explain how it works to prevent crime, referencing these 5 constructs.

Assignment
Write a paper discussing the application of the Calhoun and Weston (2003) Pathway to Violence to understanding the shootings at Dawson College in Quebec by Kimveer Gill on September 13, 2006. Your paper must include a clear definition of each stage in The Pathway to Violence, followed by examples from the Dawson College shooting and critical analysis from the perspective of the Calhoun and Weston model. The latter could, for example, include discussion of how well The Pathway model fits the shooting, or not.

For background information on these events, see the relevant articles posted under Assignment 1 on Blackboard. This assignment is based on these sources as the database for your analysis. You may also incorporate other sources.

Based on the analysis of the Dawson College shooting, suggest your own crime prevention strategies that could be used to prevent a similar event happening at Seneca College.

Also, provide one current example of a primary, secondary as well as tertiary prevention strategy that is already in use (using peer reviewed sources) and comment on its perceived effectiveness (based on research). The example used must be unique and not one that has been reviewed within the course reading.

Paper not to exceed 12 pages in length (APA format i.e., double spaced, Times New Roman 12 pt. font, with cover and reference pages. Cover and reference page not included in page count). Information The grading of your assignment will be highlighted in a marking matrix in several ways to include:

We have looked at how to create links to pages that are internal to our site as well as external links to other pages. This week, were going to discuss hyperlinks for our own site as well as other sites online. Consider the following questions:

How does your file structure (where your pages are housed on the Web server) effect the code for your links?
What is the advantage or disadvantage of having multiple folders for your site?
Why is it important to understand the target attribute of the anchor tag?

Explore how Vygotsky’s work does or does not align with current trends and directions in social media. Be sure to think critically about whether or not the theory “holds up” to the work being done today. Perhaps the theory is out of date or perhaps educators are headed in a direction that does not make sense given what is known about learning and development. Be sure to consider how the diversity of the modern classroom may impact your thinking about your chosen topic.
The focus of the paper is your analysis of the issue. It should include your insights and your critique of the topic. Make a persuasive case for your exploration and be sure to use research to support your arguments.

WRITE A RESPONSE TO THE FOLLOWING POST:

Public health has traditionally focused on ensuring healthy outcomes and their equitable distribution in population subgroups through essential public health services consistent with public health agency mandates and community priorities. Where Health care and public health industries have historically operated in siloes, with distinct and often contradictory approaches to health. health care providers have arguably operated as part of an industrial medical complex focused primarily on treatment and cure rather than prevention (Shah, 2018). Nonprofit hospitals are expected to provide community benefits to maintain their tax-exempt status. Certain provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act require these hospitals to complete a community health needs assessment (CHNA).

hospitals are required to seek input from stakeholders who represent the broad interests of the community, including those with special knowledge of or expertise in public health for profit, such as local health departments (LHDs).2 In addition to their CHNAs, nonprofit hospitals must develop implementation strategies to address identified health needs. Activities addressing the social determinants of health currently represent a small proportion of community benefit spending, but that could change. The IRS has existing authority to require nonprofit hospitals to link community benefit spending to the priorities they have identified through CHNAs (Wiley, & Matthews, 2017).
