One of the biggest decisions that any healthcare organization can make today is the selection of a new healthcare information system. With so many options available today, how would you go about selecting the best information system for your own community hospital facility? Whom would you involve in the analysis and decision-making process? Finally, what criteria would you use in making the final choice for a new system?

Please include the name of the person or question to which you are replying in the subject line. For example, “Tom’s response to Susan’s comment.”

Tasha:

I would go by selecting the best information system for my own community hospital facility by the deciding factors of what is needed to provide services to a patient in a hospital. I would involve all employees who help make clinical decisions for patient care and business / strategic decisions. These would be all of the following systems that I feel would be needed. Patient monitoring, Nursing information, Laboratory information, Pharmacy information, Radiology information, Respiratory care information, Physical medicine information, & Medical decision support. The criteria used to make the final choice for a new system would be which one benefits the most. Considering it is a community hospital I’m deciding for, I say all systems.

Did you know that one department store chain has two forensics labs in the United States? One is in the western states and the other is located in the Northeast, and both locations process fingerprints and other forensics evidence. Did you know that one of the fast-food restaurant chains has a huge security department that is responsible for global security and an intelligence unit that tracks terrorism worldwide? Also, did you know that every professional sports team, most Fortune 500 companies, and amusement parks have security, quick response teams, and investigation teams?

In the selection of your topic for your final project, examine all possible areas of interest, both in the public and private sectors. Research topics of interest in which you would love to have a career.

Based on the feedback from your instructor and peers regarding your topic, finalize the thesis that you will pursue for your research. Now, you will develop a research plan that will include the following:

Thesis statement: This statement presents the problem or issue you intend to research, and it should be clear and concise.
Hypothesis: This is a statement of prediction regarding the results of the problem or issue. Briefly identify your working solution to the problem. How might your working solution solve the problem? Be sure to note that your working solution will evolve through continued research and analysis.
Measurement and analysis approach: Define the key points that you will research, and explain how you will gather and analyze the data you find. Intend to incorporate information related to technology and crime statistics that apply to your issue.
Applicable resources: Identify 5 sources that you have found that are the most relevant and best support your purpose statement. List the sources, and then record the main idea as notes to use as part of your research later. Identify case studies, library, Web, and other scholarly resources.
Ethical standards: What are ethical and legal responsibilities to ensure that your final report will be of the highest ethical standards?

Phase 1: Identify and diagnose the problemRecognizing problems as opportunities

I ‘m Network engineer working for a manufacturing plant. Our organization manufactures Al coils  and on average production of 50,000 tons.  In order to perform the tasks, operator needs to run applications for tracking the stages of its production and document for faster, reliable and accurate results.

We have identified the problem to be Wi-fi Issue. The reasons for  weak signals and packet drop/loss inside the plant are material absorption, signal reflection from the walls.

Phase 2: Generate Alternative SolutionsReady made & Custom made not best one

The possible solutions are increasing signal strength by having high gain and low loss omni directional antenna rather than directional antenna. In general, Organizations try to boost the signal strength by increasing the Access points & antennas . This can be considered as ready made solution available in the

market. When we considered this case, increases the cost of hardware inventory all over the plant . This is not effective solution even though we might reduce the signal loss.

phase 3: Evaluating Alternatives – out of all options which are best  for great profit . Source :

Second possible alternative,  we can come up is  wired connectivity rather than the wireless technology. but, in our scenario the operator needs to be moving to  different locations in the crane.  There are various steps that are involved for transferring the coil, such as  slab to coil conversion which is hot  needs to cooled

and next need to be shipped and packaged as per the customer requirements . Thus, wired connectivity doesn’t seem to help my situation.

Third alternative, we have identified is implementing the latest technology such as 5ghz that are much faster than 2.5ghz for stronger connectivity. But, they got its share of cons. As part of this project we have invested to work with Ekahau tool to reduce the cost by identifying the exact locations and type of antenna

including tilt, distance, angel also calculate the losses. Thus, this choice seems to be more reliable and advanced technically  out of all available options

phase 4: Making the choice: consider multiple scenarios raises what if questions for decision makers and highlights the need for contingency plan.

Out of all available options, it took lot of research includes time, energy and money. We have accepted the combination of  5ghz technology combined with tool that satisfy reaching the goal in optimizing way.

phase 5: Implementing the decision: Be prepared that things will not be as expected as the circumstances are not the same.  Source : (Bateman, Snell, & Konopaske, 2019, p. 80)

In this stage, we have implemented the plant wide graph and added all the wireless devices, antennas, walls . Thus, we got the output for the best quality signal coverage all over the plant . This is helpful as we are not making any changes in the production environment.

but, tool gives almost same output when implemented in your live network that reduces the cost, time and human power.

phase 6: Evaluating the decision: Consider the feed back and try all 6 steps again in case of not expected outcome .

After implementing the changes applied in tool and 5GHZ we could see there is reliable connectivity of wifi all over the plant. The only downside we found was the 5GHZ is also being used by AGVS which causes the interferences. The possible solution is to move to different channels than the existing one to have smooth

no signal loss. This was not expected but, we could say that we have reached our goal and are in better position than previously. We consider this to be successful as, all the 6 phases have been executed  and best decision in our plant network with the available conditions.

Kaylee:

Advancements in technology affect the way of many things in organizations’ operations are done in many different ways.  Automation is already in play with factories when boxing and shipping was once done by a human it is now done by a computer controlling it.  Information technology is used widely in most if not all businesses now days.  In my line of work we have all of our records and scheduling through a computer based program.  The internet effects it by buying and selling on line.  It is easier to purchase something with a click on Amazon vs having to drive, park then go inside a store to purchase something.  Technological advancements has effected my life by making it easier for me to function in a daily task.  I hat e saying that but it is true.  Take this school, all on line which saves me the time and money having to go to a classroom to take a class.  Within my job we only use computers to do our daily work.  Whether making appointments or emailing with our doctors it has become so much easier having everything in one place versus the old way with charts and having to hunt someone down to ask a question.

Write a critical appraisal that demonstrates comprehension of two quantitative research studies. Use the “Research Critique Guidelines Part II” document to organize your essay. Successful completion of this assignment requires that you provide a rationale, include examples, and reference content from the study in your responses.

Use the practice problem and two quantitative, peer-reviewed research articles you identified in the Topic 1 assignment to complete this assignment.

In a 1,0001100 word essay, summarize two quantitative studies, explain the ways in which the findings might be used in nursing practice, and address ethical considerations associated with the conduct of the study.

Scenario: You are doing a presentation at the Metropolitan Police Academy in a major city. Your presentation for the afternoon is on the definition of truth when dealing with cases in which the defendant has a psychopathological issue that may have contributed to his or her commission of a crime. Attending this lecture will be a mixture of law enforcement officers, forensic psychologists, and prosecutors from the States Attorneys Office. You know that police, forensic psychologists, and prosecutors all believe in the truth but their definitions of truth may vary.

To avoid conflict in the lesson, you prepare a handout in the form of a white paper of 3 pages. You explore the definition of truth from the perspectives of each of the class participants (police, forensic psychologists, and prosecutors). Include the following in your white paper:

Explain the criteria that police investigators have in their finding of the truth as it relates to the investigative outcome of their respective cases.
Define the criteria the forensic psychologists use to determine the truth that they concludes about the defendant(s) in their respective cases.
Describe the method by which the prosecutors use in determining what they define as the truth in their respective cases.

Select an individual that you believe exhibits authentic leadership. This individual can be historical or contemporary. Provide specific examples that support how this person exhibits authentic leadership. What is the role of authentic leadership in creating trust and follower-ship in this example, and how can it improve organizations?

Legal & Ethical Scenarios

Legal Scenarios

Select two of the scenarios.  Support your responses with appropriate cases, laws, and other relevant examples by using at least one scholarly source from the SUO Library in addition to your textbook for each scenario. Do not copy the scenario text into the paper. Label the beginning of each scenario with the number you selected (e.g., Scenario 1). Cite your sources in APA format on a separate page. Submit your document to the Submissions Area by the due date assigned.

Scenario 1:  Business Competition

BRG  of Georgia and BARMAX,  located in Illinois are the nations two largest providers of bar review materials and lectures that are designed to help students study and pass the bar exam for their state.

BARMAX began offering Georgia bar review course on a limited basis in 2006 and was in direct, and often intense, competition with BRG from 2007 to 2009 when the companies were the two main providers of bar review courses in Georgia. In early 2010, they entered into an agreement that gave BRG an exclusive license to market BARMAX materials in  and to use its trade name Bar/Bri. The parties agreed that BARMAX would not compete with BRG in Georgia and that BRG would not compete with BARMAX outside of Georgia. Under the agreement, BARMAX  received $100 per student enrolled by BRG and 40 percent of all revenues over $350. Immediately after the 2010 agreement, the price of BRGs course was increased from $150 to more than $400.

Is their conduct illegal under federal antitrust laws?

Scenario 2:  Administrative Agencies and Ethics

Brian Day is the vice president of new technology development at Future Electronics in Southaven Mississippi.  One year ago, he filed an application with the Federal Communications Commission to obtain approval for a new device using satellite technology.  Brian met Jenice Brown at an electronics convention two months ago and invited her to his room at the hotel.  The two parted ways. Brown worked as the director for licensing approval of new products at the FCC.  Two weeks later, Brown wrote Day a letter on FCC letterhead stating, It was nice to see your name cross my desk on your companys application for approval of the new satellite device.  Id really like to see you again.  Why dont you come visit me in Washington this weekend?

Day considered requesting that the petition be referred to another director at the FCC.  However, he is concerned that the  transfer would delay the approval process for at least a year.  Days chief engineer advised that a key competitor plans to introduce a similar device on the market in three months.

  • Are there any legal or ethical barriers to relationships between corporate officers and members of administrative agencies involved in reviewing or regulating corporate activity?
  • What should Day do?
  • What would you advise Day to do if you were head of human resources or legal counsel for Future Electronics?

Scenario 3:  International Law

Reliable Time Inc. imported a shipment of watches into the United States. The watches contained the mark Lauren which is a registered trademark owned by Ralph Lauren. U.S. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seized the watches pursuant to the Tariff Act, which authorizes seizure of any merchandise bearing a counterfeit mark. Ralph Lauren did not make or sell watches at the time of the seizure. Reliable argued that because Ralph Lauren did not make watches at the time of the seizure, the watches it imported were not counterfeit, and the civil penalty imposed by CBP was unlawful. The government argued that the mark was counterfeit and that the Tariff Act does not require the owner of the registered mark to make the same type of goods as those bearing the offending mark.

Decide the outcome for the case by providing support from scholarly sources such as the textbook, journal articles, cases and information from the CBP website.
