11:00 am CST, NASA will make an announcement regarding a (currectly secret!) discovery on the Moon involving the Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA).  Your assignment is to watch the announcement live at https://www.nasa.gov/nasalive and report on it before our next class on Wednesday.  Your report should be a single-page document with a typical 3- or 5-paragraph structure.  You may use outside sources so long as they are referenced.  Your report can assume the reader knows anything we’ve learned in class already, so you should define any new terms you encounter in your research.

In your report, make sure to address the following questions:

What was discovered?  Does this discovery change anything fundamental about our understanding of the Moon?

Who made the discovery?  What institutions and individuals were involved?

How was the discovery made?  What instruments were used, what new techniques were employed, and how long did it take?

What is SOFIA, anyway?  What is unique or special about this instrument that made this new discovery possible?

1- Define your favorite organism. Are there significantly different serotypes?
2- Symptoms and complications: describe the early symptoms, disease progression, and possible
outcomes caused by this organism.
3- Reservoir: describe the presumptive sources of this organism.
4- Transmission: how does this organism spread among human populations?
5- People at risk: what are the populations at risk of infection? Which populations are at high risk
of severe disease?
6- Recent outbreaks: describe the current epidemiology in the US: number of infections reported
to date, countries around the world where the virus is circulating, actions taken to stop the
disease spread.
7- Antimicrobial Resistance. Are there significant problem treating these infections with
antimicrobials?
8- Treatment. How is the disease treated?
9- Prevention. How can you reduce the risk of infection? Are vaccines or other prevention strategies
available?
10- Public Health. How common are these infections in the US, and globally?

–    Give the main pollutants that have been analyzed (heavy metals, organic pollutants, pesticides, trace metals, dust, etc.)
–    Give the study area and sample collection methods.
–    Give main environmental indicator (s) that have been used to study the pollution (plants, water, wastewater, dust, bio indicators, waste, soil, etc)
–    Give the methods and techniques that have been used to collect the samples, analyze the pollutants, and data analysis.

6.    Proposed engineering solution of the problem
look for proper environmental solution (s) for the above-mentioned environmental problem, the solution might cover the following aspects:
–    Title of the environmental solution and brief description.
–    The main purpose from using the proposed environmental solution.
–    Figures or pictures of the suggested solution or treatment processes.
–    The expected results and outcomes from using the proposed environmental solution.
–    Any proposed alternative solutions.
–    Recommendation toward a cleaner environment and minimize the environmental stresses.

This paper is 50 % of my grade and I really care about its grade. It is my last year, and I
always get As and I have 3 other exams this week. I need to get At least an 85 , preferably 90 please since I am trying to graduate with an A GPA and it is one of my last 2 courses.

Earthquakes and People
We have been hearing about disastrous earthquakes and Tsunamis all
over the world these days. This and other geological phenomena are described
in chapter 27 of your textbook. Your learning in this course will be incomplete if
those topics are untouched. Make a media production of the following aspects of
the Tsunami and/or earthquake, making special reference to the earthquake
and/or Tsunami of significant magnitude that happened in any part of the world
in 2017/2018/2019/2020. The following are the topics you need to cover through
the activity.
1. How are earthquakes caused? Explain the different types of seismic waves.
How are they detected? How are earthquakes predicted? Why are tsunamis
difficult to detect? What is a Tsunami? How are earthquakes and Tsunamis
related?
2. Describe the earthquake you have chosen. Make a PowerPoint presentation
of the cause, origin, places hit, and the disaster caused by these events.
Use maps, pictures, and clear information in an organized manner.
3. Using appropriate visuals, discuss the social and economic impact of the
Tsunami and/or the earthquakes on the people affected and the world in general.
4. How does this earthquake of 2017/18/2019/2020 you chose to study
compare with those of two previous years? What were the differences/
similarities this time? Were there any forecasts or alerts? Describe them.

The PowerPoint Presentation should include all the information required in the Project from reliable sources, all cited “in-text” and on one or more Reference slides in correct APA, and presentation notes.
