There are 3 parts to this assignment and 2 articles to find. Please read each part carefully before proceeding. You will need to submit at least a 2-page paper, single spaced, and include each articles title, author, publication site (journals, magazines, web-sites) and date of publication.

PART 1 Find and read 2 different types of nutrition-related articles published on the Internet.

Article 1: This should be an article of interest to you which you find on a web site or link you have already explored in this class, or others with which you are familiar. It should include general information but should NOT be a research article although it may include explanation about some research as supporting evidence. The article should be more than just a paragraph or a blog. If using Google or another search engine, try to narrow the topic when you conduct your search so it is specifici.e. type 2 diabetes and weight loss; the benefits of 7 to 9 servings of fruits and vegetables; breastfeeding and decreased risk of allergies; depression and Vit. D intake. Choose a topic of interest to you.

Article 2: Find and read a peer reviewed, evidence based, scientific article about the SAME nutrition topic (or close to it). It should be published in a research journal. There are 2 ways to do this:

Go to http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/ (Links to an external site.)

You need to find a Full Text Article and it needs to explain research (an experiment or a summary of experiments that follow the scientific method). Scan the entire article to review the parts of research (may include: abstract, introduction, methods or design, data analysis, results, discussion, limitations, conclusion). You need to read at least the Abstract, the Introduction, the Results and Discussion and the Conclusion to complete this assignment.

Example of a Research Article title:

Getting heavier, younger: trajectories of obesity over the life course. Title of article

Article 1

Title of article, name/s of the reporter or authors, name and address (URL) of the web site, the date the articles were published or posted, the name of the journal the article was in.

Critically analyze the web-site where you found your first article. Go to the About Us link and find out about the web-site sponsor: look for a list of the board of directors, the vision or goal of the site; how old is the web-site, and other descriptive information. Report on whether something is for sale. This will entail some investigation. Be nosey and find information that helps you determine what the website is offering.

Determine the credentials of the author(s) that make them a qualified writer. Explain why you think they are qualified. (Refer to the text for exact criteria.) They may not be credentialed but still qualified to write the article….explain why, i.e. have science or health writing experience, refer to studies and experts to support claims and ideas, provide resources and references.

In your own words summarize the information presented: the main idea of the article, the objective, intent, outcome…explain what the article is about.

Address whether the author(s) presented the info clearly and provided support to make the information trustworthy, i.e. were experts quoted; were statistics or studies discussed? What was said? Provide examples.

Address whether the information was understandable and applicable. How useful and practical is the information and for who? Explain any tips or hints the author suggested for making changes. Provide examples.

Does the article relate to the title? Is the layout easy to follow and does the information flow? Provide examples how.

State your opinion about the article: did you like the article; learn new information (examples of what you learned.); trust the information (based on what you found out about the web site, the author and the supporting information provided by the author); was it practical; can you apply the information; did the article do what you thought it would do?

Article 2

State the name of the article, the authors, the journal and date that the article was published in the journal. (Notesome research articles are available on online publishing sites but they should include the date and may include a journal it was also published in.)

Provide a summary of the authors background information.

Explain what was being researched, i.e. what is the hypothesis? Look in the introduction section for why the authors want to do this researchwhat are they hoping to find?

Give a brief explanation of the study design. Find this in the Introduction and the Methods section. You do not have to tease out the details but try to find who/what was under investigation; how many people were involved and for how long did the study last? What was the intervention, i.e. what was given or done to the intervention group and what was given to the control group as a placebo?

State the outcome of the study. What happened? What did the researchers discover?

Was the outcome significant? find this in the Discussion and/or Conclusion of the article.

State your opinion about the article: did you like the article; learn new information (examples of what you learned.); trust the information (based on what you found out the authors and the supporting information); did you understand the study and understand how the outcome may be useful.

State the intended audience for each article. Who would be most likely to read each one and why?

Discuss what features you liked or did not like about the articles.

Which one was most understandable to you and why?

Which one gives you the most applicable information?

Which one did you prefer and why?

A review of the IRSC BAS Inc. will reveal that the business has grown much too fast for the people to keep up with change and growth. As the CEO, I believe is it time to make some significant change.  Some of the issues we will be addressing over the next few months will include:
We have a disconnected staff that appear to have issues making sure the business is profitable
-Our Human Resource Policies are non-existent
-Our Product Portfolio needs to be reworked to provide revenue streams to maintain our standing as a top Florida company
-Customer satisfaction is fading and this will not be tolerated
-Our contracts are not legally sound and it is costing us money
-We need a new direction and a new image

Change is scary, even for a Maverick like myself. It is, however, time for change to be implemented.  I expect a great deal from my people – I expect sound leadership.

CEO Expectations for this individual proposal:

1. To get started with the change process for IRSC BAS, Inc, we need to begin with our communication issues.  As you are a director in our company, I am expecting you to resolve this communication issue that we are facing. Marketing, Service, and Contracts are in a running battle in regards to a large customer. You need to resolve this conflict in a memo. Remember to include enough specifics to get us on track by taking a leadership position and squelching grapevine rumors, but be concise enough to keep this down to a short memo. Use proper memo format.

2. Design and Establish Policies
CEO Expectations for this individual proposal:

You have sent a memo to resolve the internal battle in regards to the large customer in the assignment above. Now you have to establish a policy to prevent this from happening again. Design a new strategy or policy to bring your staff together. You must create a change document that will detail how this new policy will resolve the issues at hand.

Keep in mind that this is your proposal of the new policy to me, the CEO.  As such, justification is very important.  Do not create an employee-ready policy.  Instead, present your new policy in the written proposal backed with solid justification for each idea.  Remember, you are “selling” your plan to me, so justification is very important in this proposal.

Guidelines:
While there is no minimum or maximum for this assignment, 1-2 pages should be your goal. Include at least 1 reliable APA formatted reference in your submission using the double citation method. This means the reference must be used as an in-text citation – in the body of the work and in the reference list.

I uploaded a video for you to watch to answer these questions. However,  the 3rd Question you need to use the charts that I added ( lead SDS and Arsenic), for the fourth Question you need to google the Flint Water crisis in 2014 and how is it related to the case of the study. I need a paragraph for each question and support your answers with a good reason from the video

Your Assignment 3 relates to chapter 8 (Productivity and Growth.) You will be answerring questions related to the theory of productivity and growth.

Your assignment is worth 5 pts, and each of the questions must have at least a half of page of writing  (150 words)

A reference page with at least two references from the FNU Library (LIRN / Library and Information Resources Network) specifically Pro-Quest, and textbook are required, you must also reference your in-text.

In addition your answers must prescribe to APA format.. You must submit a cover page, each question in a page by itself, and your references page must be also in a page by itself.  And, please do not forget to reference your in-text.  Lastly your assignment must be submitted via “Safeassign” in order to obtain your max points your work must be original in at least 70%.

Your assignment grade will be based on the following “Rubrics”

– APA Formatting 20% (running head, page numbering, font style & size, double spacing , margins 1″, paragraphs indents, proper and complete referencing for your references sources, references page hanging indents, in-text referencing)

– References Sources 20% (textbook, two other references from the FNU Library not the Internet)

– Originality Report 20% (70% or higher, titles and references do not count against your work)

– Content Relevancy 20% (100% relevant content to the subject matter)

– Content Volume 20% (it must be at least 150 words of writing per question)

Answer the following questions:

– What is the relevance of research and development to an economy’s productivity?  Among major economies, how does the United States rank in R&D spending as a share of the GDP?

– Define industrial policy.  What are some arguments for and against industrial policy?

There are multiple phases in decision-making, namely 1. Identifying the problem 2. Generating alternative solutions 3. Evaluating those alternatives 4. Making the right choice 5. Implementing the decision 6. Evaluating the outcome. As a part of todays discussion, I will be talking about the decision that I have made at work.

Identifying the problem:

We use Agile as our framework while we do Program increment planning AKA PI planning. It helps enable to take quick decisions in the unforeseeable environment. The organizations, which can adapt quickly and flexibility to changes in the environment. So, as a part of the planning team of scrum masters, developers and product owners will be identifying the existing issues and planning for any product changes. In the last sprint, we could not predict the number of production issues that are going to be raised, which led to a lot of confusion on how to fix this as we were already allocated with our work which includes the production defects too, but not in huge numbers. Now the team as a whole wants to analyze why this issue has happened.

Generating alternative solutions:

As a part of the analysis and the discussion, there were many ideas on how to go about this issue. Some of them were hiring additional resources, allocating 75% of hours to the development and the remaining for issues like this, reduce the number of meetings and loan resources. There were many other ideas, which would lead us into the rabbit holes.

Evaluating those alternatives:

Now that we have alternative solutions in place, it is time to evaluate the solutions by doing a SWOT analysis. At first, looking at hiring additional resources would solve the problem, but the problem includes hiring takes time, increases the budget and making them get used to the environment and the workflow will be time-consuming. However, the advantages are down the lane you will have a team, which can handle the worst-case scenarios.

The second alternative is to allocate only 75% of the work hours during the sprint, so the team can take up the production defects on time and resolve them. The problem with this alternative is the work that needs to complete will take longer than before. However, we will have reduced the stress on the team, which leads to a quality product.

The remaining alternatives are reducing the number of meetings would change the workflow and these scrum calls cannot be avoided as a part of the Agile framework and loaning resources would take a similar time as hiring a new resource except for the paperwork.

Making the right choice:

After evaluation, those alternatives, Allocating 75% of the work to development and the rest for unexpected production issues like this would increase the efficiency of the team and the application that we are building and supporting on the go. Not only this would reduce the amount of stress on the employee, but this can also be helpful for the team to be creative and learn new things if we do not have more issues as expected. This alternative does not affect the existing workflow in a way that we have to reduce any meetings or to increase the budget.

Implementing the decision:

Once the decision has been taken by the team as a whole, it was communicated to the program managers and Release Train Engineers by showing the SWOT analysis for the alternatives and make them understand why this is the right choice for the problem. Then they have provided us with the green signal, we started writing stories and creating features for the coming sprint by allocating only 75% of the work by taking holidays and PTOs into consideration.

Evaluating the decision:

Once the Program increment planning was done, the team started developing the application and as we have predicted we have faced production issues. However, this time as a team we are prepared for it, the development team has enough time to analyze, fix and validate the issue. Nonetheless, we had delivered on time for the sprint by within the milestone dates and have delivered a quality product, which would lead to fewer defects going forward.

Christian servant leaders profess to serve those whom they lead through love and the moral obligation to promote the greater good of others. What leadership behaviors would you expect from a Christian servant leader and how might those behaviors differ from someone who is not a servant leader. Also, although servant leadership is often associated with the Bible and the teachings of Jesus Christ, do you believe servant leadership is compatible with other religions or worldviews? Why or why not?
