I am challenging you in a very different way this week..

In Chapter 11 (Business and Society: Stakeholders, Ethics & Public Policy), we look at the role of Technology in Business and Society. We look at Cybersecurity, the loss of Privacy; we look at the Use of Robotics;  we look at Genetically Engineered Food; we look at Scientific breakthroughs in the Human Genome & Biotechnology…and so much more!

These are such important issues that we are all facing as a society, with so many awesome benefits and so many very real risks..

I am challenging you in a very different way this week.. I want you to look at these issues and I want YOU to develop questions and answers about these issues. What questions do you have about these technologies (living in the current fast-paced technological environment, you must have questions!)..

Please post your question about any of the topics in Chapter 11. Then use your book or the Internet to provide some insight about your question..  Post the URL link of any Internet sources you use so your peers can review as needed.

****POSTS MUST INCLUDE MORE THAN A QUESTION IN ORDER TO GET ANY CREDIT AT ALL*** The goal of this week’s Discussion is for you to think about questions you have about the future and do research to gain personal insight about those questions, and share those insights with the class..

PROMPT:  This week we hear from multiple Americans–Smith, Powhatan, “King Philip”, and Winthrop.  How do each of their voices contribute to the idea of “multiple truths” and how does the fact that the Native Americans rely on other recorders to share their truths impact the reader and the purported speaker?

Hint:  Pay close attention to who speaks for King Philip.

Be sure to review the Discussion Guidelines and Rubric located in the Week 1 Module, and to include page references for your ideas, so others may better understand your points.

Initial Post: 100 word minimum

Two Replies:  50 word minimum each

Assignment: Reflective response
Please digest the comments from your peers with thoughtfulness and an open mind. It is the easiest thing to be saying ” hmmm… those comments don’t make sense” … etc; override such thoughts. Your peers were restricted to commenting only on your content (and thus couldn’t have written a great response if there was a very simple idea to comment on!) Use double-space, Calibri 11, Arial 11, Lucida Sans Unicode 10, Times New Roman 12, and Georgia 11 (These fonts are now acceptable in APA 7).
Your reflective response will be in three parts as below:
1.    Summarize the takeaways (in bullet form ie 1, 2, 3  etc) from your peers comments (Between 3 to 5 points, approx. 2-3 lines for each bullet)
2.    Reflect/agree with/ counter/ add to the above mentioned takeaways. Relate your response to your peer by creating a subheading for each of the points mentioned above to structure this part
3.    Re-read your own experience (ie A1.1). a) Summarize and comment on your first part on lines of 1 above. Are there differences in the two summaries? If so, why? Could you have done a more effective job of sharing your experience the first time?; b) Now that you have been exposed to various formal ideas in change, how would you, in hindsight, review your own experience as a ‘Change’ expert?
4.    In this part, you are expected to support your responses/narrative by citing Change literature
5.    Find some points in the 4 slides that are related to the changes in a file called A1.1.

For Week 2, you are to submit a written paper that includes your Research Question, a Thesis Statement, and Purpose Statement. It must contain at least eight sources; at least six must be peer-reviewed. The specific research question should be of depth and breadth required for a major project. Length: Three (3) pages.  Note:  Your title and reference pages are not included as part of the three page content minimum.

Research Question: Are the terrorists or U.S. more successful after the attacks of 9/11?

Thesis Statement: : On whether the terrorists or U.S. more successful after the attacks of 9/11 would require a look at the days prior to 9/11 attacks and the days after the attacks.

Purpose Statement: Need a statement

Technical Requirements:

Length:  3 pages, double spaced, 1″ margins, 12 pitch type in Times New Roman font

Citations/References:  You must use the APA style for this assignment.

Submission: All work is to be submitted as an attachment to the assignment link by 11:55 pm on the due date. All work should be prepared in Microsoft Word format and submitted as an attachment.

A social movement summary 350-400 words

Where is this movement emerging and at what? Is it growing, stable, happening in waves, or waning in size? Why has it occurred? What has happened that prevents most people from living their normal lives? Are there service agencies attempting to address this problem? Why have them been ineffective?

An analysis of the movements and tactics 250-300 words

Do you see this movement as fundamental reform (advocating for incremental changes in the current system), revolutionary (seeking to restructure social or economic foundations), or conservative (working to preserve existing social order against change, or returning to an earlier social structure)? What tactics* does it employ? How do those tactics align with the movements type?

*Tactics of protest can include a range of methods of both active and passive non-compliance, and for our purposes will need to involve some level of social disruption to scale (i.e. one person holding a sign on a street corner will not be sufficient for this project). For a great list of nonviolent and noncompliance tactics see from the Albert Einstein Institute

A summary of the movements stakeholders 400-500 words

Stakeholders in any protest are broad! Consider the from week 1. When he runs away, he is a stakeholder in his own freedom. His mother is also a stakeholder. She both cares for his wellbeing and sees her power threatened when he runs away. If his method of protesting her power is disruptive to others. If the runaway bunny sails away in a ship, his flight might be disruptive to other boats. Similarly, when his mother responds as the wind, her response is disruptive to many who are affected by weatherboats and fish alike. The same is true for social movements, where fights to redistribute power affect many, including those who do not stand to lose or gain from the target issues in the fight.

A list of tentative inquiry questions 100-200 words (apx)

Now that you know everything that youve learned, what questions would you like to explore as part of a broarder research project inspired by this social movement? Try out a few questions dedicated to different areas of inquiry within the project. Will the movements tactics be effective? What would progress look like on this issue? Who should intervene? These questions are a good launch pad, but your own inquiry questions will need to be much more concrete and rooted in your own topic.

Refer to below link and answer the question and comment in 1 or more of your peers answers

Social Security Administration

Question 1.

Visit the U.S. Social Security Administration and locate its retirement estimator.   Estimate your Social Security retirement income based on expected income and number of years you will be working.  Are your estimated benefits sufficient in your opinion?  If not, what else might you do to ensure that you are comfortable in your retirement?

Write at least 3 – 4 full paragraphs.

(I will just copy and paste some of the instructions I need to follow about this assignment )An essay supports a main idea (the thesis) with three examples or aspects you like about a place or city (explored in the body paragraphs). Each example serves as the main idea of its own paragraph. All paragraphs should support the essay thesis.
For this assignment, write a 500-word, 5-paragraph essay that gives three ways or examples of what you like about that place.
