Include roles, processes, artifacts, benefits, complexity, usage, tools, and other domains you choose.

Also, write a 500 word description of which of the three would be most successful at your company and why

Find one source. Give some basic citation information on that source ( such as author, title, web address if you got it digitally). Summarize the source. Evaluate the source ( is it good info. or not?). The reflect on the process; how did you find it ? ( Please cite source using MLA format)

 A Theoretical Foundation

A Theoretical Foundation. 1st Post Due by Day 3. A core component of administering an early childhood program is having a knowledge base of early childhood theory. As educators, it is often easier to see theory in practice when using developmentally appropriate practice directly with children. Embarking on a leadership role means that you need to explore theory from the lens of a leader in order to inform decision making for program-wide best practice. To prepare for this discussion, read the required chapters of the textbook

In your initial post:

  • Provide at least one specific example when answering the following questions:
    • How should our awareness of developmental theories guide our work as administrators?
    • How should theory influence the implementation of quality programming as an administrator?
    • Which theory most influences your personal view of leadership and/or what you have come to value as an educator?
  • Explain one developmental theory or aspect of one theory that is not mentioned in the book. Discuss why this additional information is important for managers/administrators when considering program quality.

I need those phase.

Module 4 Assessment
Debunking the Elderly Mystique in News Media

Ageism involves both negative attitudes and behaviour toward groups of people based on chronological age (Funk, 2016). Attitudes and beliefs about older persons are reinforced by stereotypes which are commonly reflected in the media. For example, images of the elderly and aging often depict older persons as forgetful, resistant to change, bad drivers, and unhappy. Negative attitudes toward older persons can be detrimental as they can lead to negative behaviour or discrimination. In this assessment you will apply academic research to debunk how older persons are often falsely portrayed in the media.

Learning Objectives:
    Identify ageism in news media.
Describe how older persons are portrayed in the news in relation to stereotypes.
Analyze the news media portrayal with academic peer reviewed research.
Apply a theoretical perspective to explain why ageism persists in Canadian society.

Instructions:
Find 1 news story that falsely portrays older persons. That is, find a news item that depicts a stereotype of older persons that is not supported by academic research. Then respond to the following questions:

1.    Describe the news story in terms of its content and how older persons or aging is presented. What is the underlining stereotype communicated in the message of the news story? How does this relate to ageism?

2.    Using the Bow Valley College RGO Library Database, search for 1 academic peer reviewed journal article that debunks the stereotype (2010 to present). Present evidence from the research that suggests the news story is not supported by academic research.

3.    Reflecting on the news story, use one of the theoretical perspectives explaining ageism outlined in Chapter 2 of the textbook (p. 40-45) to discuss why ageism persists. Based on the theoretical analysis, how could ageism be reduced?

To help you with this assessment read the following resources:

A. Textbook Reading: Chapter 2 (p.36-50) Population Aging, Ageism, and Intergenerational Relations (Funk, 2016)

B. Find Scholarly Peer-Reviewed Journal Articles.

C. Search SocINDEX with Full Text.

Guidelines:
Responses should not exceed 1 page in length (not including title and reference page).
Include and define all relevant sociological concepts and sociological theory from the textbook and course material in your discussions.
APA formatting, citing, and referencing guidelines must be followed.
Assessments missing a reference list or in-text citations will not be graded. All assignments will be checked to ensure academic honesty.

Option A.  You are a student at a New York City college in September, 1776.  Write a letter home.  You are asking for money.  Work in a reference to what your parents do — and are they your parents, or is one a step-parent?  You could work in a little social history here, perhaps on high mortality rates.  To sweeten your request, tell the people at home what’s been going on in New York City.  Mention two specific events you’ve witnessed.  Finally — is this a legitimate request?  (Is your college still holding classes?)  You’ll have to cruise the internet for background information; just cite what you use.  If you’re feeling rather proud of what you’ve achieved, by the way, I’m giving you a benchmark against which to compare your efforts, a letter of written in 1774.

Option B.  This is a rather open question, and, again, you’ll be cruising on the internet or using the library’s resources.  If you use Wikipedia, I ask that you go further; maybe you could consult one of the sources listed in the “reference section” usually included at the end of a Wikipedia article.   What I would like you to do is to choose three of the Native American peoples that lived in the Ohio Valley between 1750 and 1850.  Tell me who they are, what they have in common with each other, and some of the differences between each.  Then, locate one myth told by these people.  (You might start on the internet.  The library has some material — rummage!  Search for “North American mythology;” I would consider an Iroquois myth as qualifying.)  Tell me about the myth, and then tell me what this myth says about the culture of the people who produced it.

Essays are to be turned in as hard copy — either printed, or hand-written.  In either case, if you can manage it, double-space.  I don’t do a word count, but I expect some development.  There should be an introductory paragraph, a body of the essay presenting your argument, with evidence (quotations or particular references are good), and a conclusion.

Grammar matters to me.   Avoid sentence fragments; avoid misspellings and dangling modifiers.

If you use a source I haven’t provided, then cite it.  Don’t copy word-for-word from what I  provide unless you’re using quotation marks; if it’s not self-evident, tell me which source you’ve gotten your quotation from.  Plagiarism rates an F.

There are due dates for each essay.  Aim to get it in on the due date.  I’ll accept it up to 2 days later without penalty.  Not after that.

You only need to do 3 essays, not all 4!

Mission and Vision

Organizations in start-up mode need to formulate their mission and vision statements early on to ensure that every critical step in the initial phase is on point. Often, it is easier to see the mission and vision than it is to clearly and concisely capture them in writing. This discussion exercise is designed to help you formulate and write a clear, focused mission and vision statement using a fictitious company.

Occulari Optique is a new, privately held eyewear company offering the finest eyeglass and sunglass frames from around the world as well as in-store optical (lens) services. Headquartered in San Francisco, the company plans to open fifty stores in the next twelve months in key market cities, including Los Angeles; San Diego; Dallas; Chicago; Miami; New York; Cincinnati; Boston; Washington, D.C.; and Atlanta. Its competitors include Optical Shop of Aspen and Paris Optique.

The company wants to set itself apart with its customer service, one-of-a-kind frames, superior lens crafting, and ninety-day money-back satisfaction guarantee. Additionally, the CEO is passionate about creating an organizational culture that respects and values employees. It has been decided that team members will receive, in addition to a comprehensive benefits package, two free pairs of glasses per year, profit sharing, ongoing training and education, 100 percent tuition reimbursement, and three weeks of vacation per year.

One of the companys primary goals is an initial public offering (IPO) within fourteen to sixteen months.

Based on the above information, write both a compelling mission and vision statement for Occulari Optique. The mission and vision statements should be presented at the beginning of your posting.
After you compose vision and mission statements, evaluate your statements and the organization by addressing any one of the following bullet point sets of questions.

  • Defend the way that you formulated your mission and vision statements. What did you include in each and why? What did you intentionally leave out and why? What did you find most challenging about constructing the statements?
  • What are the most important facts the public and employees need to know about the organization to answer why we exist? How should your mission and vision statements be disseminated to the public? To the employees? What should be done to assure that the most important facts are clearly communicated and understood?
  • What makes the organization different from its competitors? What is the organizations greatest value proposition? Beyond just constructing simple mission and vision statements, how should the organization leverage its uniqueness for competitive advantage?
  • What keywords best summarize what this company stands for? How might the keywords provide both prescriptive and descriptive potential for communicating organizational values? What behaviors might be expected in the organization if the selected keywords actually reflect values-in-use?
  • If you could change details or characteristics of the organization (as presented in the case description), what would you change and why? Evaluate the strategic purpose and possible effect of making such changes.
  • What additional information or resources might be needed if this was a real situation and you needed to create mission and vision statements for an organization? How would you gather that information? How would that information influence the way you would construct the mission and vision statements?

The final paragraph (three or four sentences) of your initial post should summarize the one or two key points that you are making in your initial response.
