Discussion: Workplace Environment Assessment
How healthy is your workplace?
You may think your current organization operates seamlessly, or you may feel it has many issues. You may experience or even observe things that give you pause. Yet, much as you wouldnt try to determine the health of a patient through mere observation, you should not attempt to gauge the health of your work environment based on observation and opinion. Often, there are issues you perceive as problems that others do not; similarly, issues may run much deeper than leadership recognizes.
There are many factors and measures that may impact organizational health. Among these is civility. While an organization can institute policies designed to promote such things as civility, how can it be sure these are managed effectively? In this Discussion, you will examine the use of tools in measuring workplace civility.
To Prepare:
Review the Resources and examine the Clark Healthy Workplace Inventory, found on page 20 of Clark (2015).
Review and complete the Work Environment Assessment Template in the Resources.
Post a brief description of the results of your Work Environment Assessment. Based on the results, how civil is your workplace? Explain why your workplace is or is not civil. Then, describe a situation where you have experienced incivility in the workplace. How was this addressed? Be specific and provide examples.

This is a reflection paper for my Sports film class, The directions are included and which films to write and discuss about; also I included notes on elements of culture to use when discussing the films; FOR PART 1, DISCUSS EACH FILM IN THEIR OWN SEPARATE PARAGRAPHS THEREFORE THERE SHOULD BE 5 PARAGRAPHS FOR THAT SECTION; For part 2, relate 4 of the films together using the films I chose. I am also sending an example paper I wrote for this class that you can use in this reflection paper and also to capture my style of writing.

Read the article to find the answers to these questions: (a) What was the main study question? (b) Who participated in the study, where did it take place, and when was it conducted? (c) What study design was used? and (d) What was the answer to the main study question?

2. Find a recent news story from the popular press about a newly released health research report. Look up and read the scientific article on which the news report was based. Was the news story accurate? Did it leave out any critical information?

3. Do you identify with a particular ethnic group? Do you know of any health conditions that you are at special risk for because of your ethnic background? Are these conditions genetic? Are they related to health behaviors?

4. What are some of the conditions related to poverty that increase the risk of infectious diseases? Noncommunicable disease? Neuropsychiatric disorders? Injuries?

watch tutorial: research topic vs. research question + Patricia Lange, Thanks for Watching (excerpt: read only Chapter 2, YouTube Initiation, under files) for today + Submit reading response #2 (here)

Other written work may be freewrites, brainstorms, sample paragraphs, etc., on a smaller, more low stakes scale than the more formalized projects below, to show progress and show your work towards more formal elements of your projects as with staged drafts, complete and on time = full credit.

Reading responses will be due the day of, assessed by a rubric (available soon), about 150 words each, and require 2-3 questions to ask of the material (as response is exploration and expansion, not just reception). Ill distribute a rubric that applies to both these and the kairos days (under files and via announcements). On days we have kairos days, I will not double up on a reading response.

Possible (not required) topics for response:

Briefly analyze similarities/differences with TikTok, which many brought up on kairos day #2 as a meaningful cultural change in their recent experiences
Relationships and identities as producers/consumers (and production vs. consumption) in this media (youtube), in other words creators and audiences; meanings of participation and participatory culture
Consider analyzing/breaking down specific qualitative methods the author Patricia Lange used as a researcher
How to characterize also the relationship b/t the researcher and her human subjects and choice of technology
Assumptions about youtubers (narcissism, etc.) vs. real practices/orientations that she uncovered
Gender certainly an issue here; I thought this quote was powerful:
Narcissism accusations can become a way of adjudicating female sexuality

and romance as well as complicating womens ability to create and control their

own images.42 Because narcissism accusations may be doing different work as they

target various populations, it is incumbent upon researchers to investigate such

claims anew as they reappear to see if they are valid and to understand their effects. Narcissism accusations sometimes target regulation of female sexuality and are temporally bound, as a participants video content may change over time.

Comparisons/contrasts with Twenges iGen (how they are interpreting the same sort of material, of involvement/participation in media, etc., differently, and/or asking different questions of the same trends)

Paper Logistics:  Your paper should not exceed 1800 words and should be double-spaced.  Papers should be uploaded via SafeAssign on Blackboard by Monday, October 12 by 11 pm.  If for any reason you are unable to upload your paper, be sure to email a copy to your TA by the deadline.

This is not a research project.  If there is factual information that you believe might influence your analysis, but do not know, simply state the nature of the information and how it could influence your analysis.  In other words, you do not need to gather this information and will not be given extra credit for doing so.

You do not need to provide citations to the readings or to identify specific authors, although you can if this helps present your positions.  Direct quotations must be cited. Your paper will be evaluated in terms of the strength of your arguments and the clarity of your paper.

Paper topic: Assume that contrary to current expectations, Chinas growth slows dramatically and the European Union finally achieves a fully integrated military and defense policy.  As a result, the United States faces a rising power, but instead of China, it is the EU.  Assume that the EU can be envisioned as a unified state and that its GDP is comparable to the United States and is expected to grow faster than US GDP; the EU deploys a nuclear force that is originally built from member countries current arsenals and expands it.  The EUs population is significantly larger than the United States population but much smaller than Chinas; the EUs technology and military base is comparable to the United States and superior to Chinas, and the EU is home to financial and internet network hubs that are more important than those China would have achieved.

Your boss, an experienced diplomat, wants to know what international relations theory can tell her about major-power threats to the United States.  She has a passing familiarity with IR theory and knows that different isms and paradigms offer divergent perspectives on how states should understand and analyze the threat posed by opposing states.

She wants a memo that compares how the threat posed by the rising EU compares to the threat that would have been posed by a successful rising China.  Your paper should address this question from three perspectives: 1) defensive realism; 2) liberalism; and 3) a theory built from constructivism.  Your paper should provide a clear very brief summary of the key relevant arguments offered by each theory, make clear why the theories agree or disagree about the implications for the United States of the EUs rise, and compare these predictions to the predictions they would make about a successful rising China.

Your memo does not need to present all of the arguments these theories offer; part of the challenge is to present the arguments that are most important for analyzing these questions.  The purpose of your memo is to present the contending positions as clearly and sharply as possible, not to make a case for one approach over the others or to adjudicate their disagreements.

Program vs. Project
Briefly address each of the following bullets:

Is the process of designing a new product or service a project or a program?  Explain your answer.

What are the different characteristics that must be kept in mind when you are designing for manufacturing (sometimes also called designing for manufacturability) and how do they differ from the characteristics that must be considered when you are designing for customers (sometimes also called service design)?

Select a company (other than the one that you analyzed in W1 Assignment 3) that produces a product or provides a service (do not select a company that only sells products or services produced by others, like Wal-Mart). Describe the company and whether this company produces a product or provides a service. Investigate and describe any information you can locate about how this company designs the process to produce its product or to provide its service.

The final paragraph (three or four sentences) of your initial post should summarize the one or two key points that you are making in your initial response.

For this assignment, you will be using the case study introduced in Week Two, and the Stakeholder Analysis Overview attachment above  to prepare a stakeholder analysis and a stakeholder register. A specific template with instructions in each column have been provided for the stakeholder analysis.  In addition, you will be submitting a one page overview of the process that you will use as project managers to identify stakeholders based upon the readings and lecture material.

Stakeholder Analysis:

At this point, we are performing a comprehensive stakeholder analysis to identify key constituencies, so remember that there will be many other stakeholders in a project such as this in addition to those mentioned in the case study. For this analysis, focus on those specifically mentioned or directly implied in the case study, and also consider other stakeholders that may not be listed.  You can research common stakeholder groups and add additional categories based upon your readings or additional sources that should be cited according to AP. You will have to make some reasonable assumptions to complete the analysis and register, but this is often the case this early in a project.
Ensure you complete each column of the stakeholder register template fully for each stakeholder that you identify.

Please include a one page written introduction that outlines the process you utilized to identify all stakeholders and why you selected those approaches.
Ensure that the stakeholder register is properly formatted and that there are no text wrap issues, spelling issues, or grammatical gaps.
Remove the verbiage that is already contained in the template prior to submitting.
Cite all sources properly per APA guidelines.

Create 50 statments starting with  “I remember…”. They have to focus on images
– No limitation in topic. Just write about what ever you like. They don’t need to be in same topic.
– Can be short or long. But not too short
– FOCUSING ON IMAGES RATHER THAN TELLING SOMETHING. For example, “I remember the delicate crunch of a snail shell under my foot”  rather than “I remember the time I stepped on a snail.
