The purpose of this assignment is to demonstrate your ability to conceptualize a clients needs and strengths and conduct a biopsychosocial assessment of an individuals development and current functioning. You will apply knowledge of human behavior and the social environment, person-in-environment, and other multidisciplinary theoretical frameworks in the analysis of assessment data from one character in a novel. In doing so, you will demonstrate your understanding of theories of human behavior and the social environment, and critically evaluate and apply this knowledge in the assessment of their identified character. You will demonstrate your knowledge of how social, emotional, physical, and social justice related issues affect development across the lifespan and will consider the role the intersections of diversity play.  You will also reflect on how your own personal experiences and affective reaction inform your assessment. In order to conduct this analysis, you are expected to utilize multiple sources of knowledge including social work theories taught in the HBSE I & II sequence, research-based empirical evidence, and government reports.  Furthermore, students (along with two of their peers) will use a book club model to discuss possible theoretical applications to the characters in the book.
