This week, you will conduct a MeSH term search and create a Coding Sheet Summary table.

This term search is for your final projecta theoretical research studyand should be based on the same topic as the research question you determined during week 1. A coding sheet includes the key components of published research found in a research review. Coding sheet information is often in a table format allowing the researcher to quickly compare findings from multiple articles.
Conduct a MeSH term search using keywords from Assignment 1 that you used to create your research question.
Once you have completed a MeSH term search, you will get a list of published articles. Review them to find four that you will use for your final project.
Save the full text from all four articles and read them carefully. Make notes on key points.
Create a Coding Sheet Summary table using information from the four published articles that you chose.
Include your research question in the assignment so it is clear why the four articles were chosen for review.
Your paper should document in detail each step listed above. All elements listed on the example coding sheet (below) are required for each of the four articles you review.

Annotated Bibliography
For this assignment read your selected articles and write an annotated bibliography for the 2-5 most pertinent articles on your chosen topic (picot question is the topic). The annotated bibliography looks at each research article individually and addresses the following:

Step one: List the first reference using correct APA formatting. Step two: summarize the article in one paragraph using APA guidelines (citing required). Step three: in another paragraph note why you have chosen to include this article and what information it provides related to your PICO(T) topic. Follow these three steps for all articles.

Use Times New Roman 12-point font, double space, and assure 1 margins.  Include a running head (Running head) with your last name and appropriate assignment name (ex. BURGERMEISTER_BIBLIOGRAPHY) as well as page numbers.
Since the reference for each article will be stated prior to each article summary no reference section is required.

Nightingale Leadership Written Assignment

The purposes of this assignment are to explore Florence Nightingale letters available through the UAB Lister Hill Library and identify leadership skills utilized to empower others and advocate for patients.

Select a letter of interest to use as the underpinning of your group’s written work.
Identify leadership skills and behaviors Florence Nightingale utilized to empower change and advocate for patients.
Write a GROUP paper synthesizing your findings using the Paper Requirements and Content guidance below.

One (1) inch margins

Describe the selected letter.  What was the focus of the letter?  Who was the focus of the letter? 
Leadership skills.  What kind of leader was Florence Nightingale?  What modern leadership theory best describes her work in the letter?
Population.  Describe how Nightingale used the leadership skill within the selected population. 
Advocacy.  How did Nightingale influence change within the population described in the letter?  What was the outcome of the advocacy? 
Translation.  How can you use described skills and behaviors within your future APRN or DNP responsibilities?  How can you translate these skills or behaviors within your clinical environment?
Letter Access and Information:

UAB is home to original handwritten letters from Florence Nightingale.  These letters were a gift to UAB’s Reynolds Historical Library.  Through a generous gift from alumna Barrett Brock MacKay, an interactive exhibit that is open to the public showcases UAB’s Nightingale Letter collection.  You can read more about the history of UAB’s letters and the School of Nursing’s Nightingale exhibit by clicking below on “Barrett Brock MacKay Florence Nightingale Exhibit at the UAB School of Nursing”. 

Nightigale’s letters teach us about nursing leadership and lessons for us today.  In this course, we will study the leadership theories and concepts.  We will also extend these concepts to nursing and in particular the advanced nursing practice roles.
