State the author(s) main argument/thesis. What is the main argument/thesis? Include the passage that best summarizes this thesis and include the page number in an in-text citation. For example, Hartman argues that (p. 3).
2.  Tell me what remains unclear or underdeveloped in text/work. What might lead to this gap/weakness?

3.  Relate the reading to your life experiences.

Remember, your reading summary is due at 11:59pm the Monday or Wednesday before the reading is to be discussed in class. Those received after 11:59pm but prior to the start of class will be considered late and graded accordingly. Reading summaries submitted after the start of class will not be accepted.

For example: Responses for Tuesday 1-21 are due Monday 1-20 by 11:59pm. Responses for Thursday 1-23 are due Wednesday 1-22 by 11:59pm. And so on…

Discussion #3
Topic:  New Literacies
Read Chapter 2 of the text.  The authors indicate that new literacies are transforming how we teach content.  Students are considered “digital natives” while many teachers are considered “digital immigrants.”  How familiar are you with the suggested multimodal learning strategies and applications described throughout this chapter?  Provide examples of those you have used and those for which you were less familiar.  What challenges do we face as we integrate and assess more learning opportunities with new literacies?

What is the definition of professionalism?
What are benefits of professionalism?
How do the readings and three peer-reviewed journal articles contribute to your own theory of professionalism in leadership?
How do you plan to exhibit professionalism in your career as a healthcare leader?
How will this conceptualization of professionalism in leadership influence your functioning as a leader within your organization? In other words, how will you translate thoughts into action in the workplace and in your interactions with others with whom you work?
A heading is required for each of these sections within the paper.  The headings should be shortened to conserve space. For example the first section could be Definition of Professionalism.  NOTE:  Papers that are submitted without headings will not be graded, but instead will require student revision for a maximum grade of a B.  Therefore, be sure to include the headings in your paper.

Each paper should have a title page, an introduction, sections for each of the 5 questions, a conclusion, and reference page(s). The paper is to be double-spaced and be at least 4 pages, but no longer than 6 pages (not including the title page and reference page).

First, lets start with a question based on your experiences and/or opinion:

1. When you receive a poorly written communication, what do you think of that message? How about the writer sending the document? The organization he or she is representing? Does anyone have an example you would like to share?

Now, integrating what youve gleaned from the readings, lets move to the next question.
First, read the following paragraphs written by Rob Kyff in the San Jose Mercury News. There are at least 20 glaring spelling and grammar errors in the paragraphs.

If I was a teacher, Id feel badly that less and less students seem to understand the basic principals of good writing. Neither the oldest high school students nor the youngest kindergartner know proper usage. A student often thinks they can depend on word processing programs to correct theyre errors. Know way!

Watching TV all the time, its easy to see why their having trouble. TV interferes with them studying and its strong affect on children has alot to due with their grades. Theres other factors, too, including the indifference of parents like you and I. A Mom or Dad often doesnt know grammer themselves. We should tell are children to study hard like we did at theyre age and to watch less TV then their classmates.

2. Based on this weeks learning materials, what suggestions would you offer Mr. Kyff for improving his writing? Please explain.

3. One of the best ways to become a better writer is to have someone critique your work. Yet, many are very sensitive about their writing. What are some productive ways to provide feedback to someone without causing a blow to his/her self-confidence? Are there strategies that supervisors, colleagues, professors, etc have used to help you that you would recommend?

Prepare a Word document of the general background information regarding China (e.g., risk elements, with more emphasis on recent events). In a minimum of 500 words, be sure to include the following:
1. regional transaction exposure and approach;
2. regional translation exposure and approach; and
3. regional operating exposure and other descriptive events or information.

The business that you would be trying to expand to China will be the American grocery store named Publix. This in regards to the fish elements and such.

Protecting the rights and welfare of Human Research Participants is mandatory for every member of a research team. Play the interactive activity of The Research Clinic (Links to an external site.) as the clinical research coordinator Jan Klein, RN. Feel free to play other parts, but for this short assignment address the questions from the experience of this character.

Choose one of the critical decision points for the coordinator. In one to two paragraphs explain why the decision was critical to maintaining integrity based on IRB protocol. Explain the role of informed consent, data integrity/validity, participant rights, and participant welfare.
