For the Session Long Project, you will be applying the concepts in the background materials to your own personal experiences in the workplace. For this first SLP assignment choose a supervisor that you personally worked for and got to know well and compare and contrast this supervisors leadership characteristics with your own personal leadership characteristics using the concepts from the required background materials. Carefully reflect on your supervisors traits, behaviors, and leadership styles. Then write a 2- to 3-page paper (excluding title page and References Page) to include 2 scholarly sources from the required and optional readings list and addressing the following issues:

Overall, is your current role more of a leadership or a management role? How about your supervisor?
What key differences in leadership behaviors do you see between yourself and your supervisor? Refer to the concepts of being task-oriented, or people-centered/relationship-oriented that are discussed in the required background materials.
What key differences in leadership traits do you see between yourself and your supervisor? Refer to specific leadership traits discussed in the required textbook chapters.
Would you describe your and your supervisors leadership style as diverse and inclusive? If so or if not, please explain your response.

The primary types of intellectual property include patents, trademarks, trade names, copyrights, and trade secrets. Intellectual property often is a key factor in enabling companies to differentiate themselves and their products or services from those of their competitors, and therefore they can be a key factor underlying a firm’s competitive advantage within and across nations. Protecting these intellectual properties is an important objective, legally and strategically.

What are the various forms of dispute resolution available to BMW? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each for BMW? Would your analysis be any different if the customer was from China and other developing countries (i.e. BRICs, ASEAN, etc.)? What if the customer was from the G-7 countries such as the United Kingdom and the United States? What should be the company’s strategies in these situations? Support your comments with information from your research. Illustrate and reinforce your answer with practical examples.

Special remarks: I know in the past that students have appreciated exploring this issue from both sides of the political and legal debate. I hope that you enjoy this academic freedom in making this a lively discussion since the topic this week can be passionate. Nevertheless, it is important to remember this is an academic class and NOT a political forum. Opinions are O.K. if and when backed up by quality sources and research. Also, keep in mind this is a discussion that should also be focused on the perspective of international business and economics, not individual interests.

All of you have probably read quite a bit about the worlds wealthiest manBill Gates. But some of you are probably not nearly as familiar with Bill Gatess main rival and worlds seventh wealthiest man, former Oracle CEO Larry Ellison. Ellison recently retired as Chief Executive officer (CEO) but is still active as the chair of Oracles board of directors. Unlike Gates, who is relatively reserved, Ellison is known for his extravagant lifestyle and boastful interviews.

The rivalry between Ellison and Gates is legendary, but not quite as much is known about Ellisons leadership style. He has been described as a jerk, and his managerial style has been described as take no prisoners. While he is unquestionably a powerful leader, he has also been criticized for spending a lot of time playing golf while leaving many leadership duties to his subordinates.

For this assignment, read up on leadership traits, leadership behaviors, and leadership styles in the required background materials. Then read up on Larry Ellison and find as much as you can about his personality and leadership style. Finally, try to apply what youve read in the required background materials about leadership traits, behaviors, and styles to what you found out about Larry Ellison.

Organization: Papa John’s

Idea:
We propose that Papa John’s Pizza sells their pizzas as a frozen food product in major grocery store chains. It would be an extension of their current brick-and-mortar operations in which many are franchise operations. Papa John’s experienced a major shake-up in 2018 that caused stock prices to fall and they lost millions of dollars in sales. Their franchisees suffered as a result of the controversary and our plan would put their pizzas in a convenient and assessable location for consumers. Selling their pizzas in grocery store chains would make them more visible and would increase sales and stock prices.
