Well, we must say that not all workplace tensions escalate to this level! However, when they do, there are follow-up steps that need to be taken.

In this assignment, you will focus on conducting a workplace investigation. You are an HR specialist assigned to investigate this breakroom brawl. Outline in full sentences your approach and discuss why you chose the steps you recommend to investigate. No one was seriously hurt and the plant owner does NOT want the police called due to bad publicity. The labor union at the plant did nothing to stop the fight and perhaps was involved. The plant owner/manager does, however, want to find out from your approach how and why this happened and who is responsible. Be sure to also discuss what next steps might be available to prevent this from happening again. You wonder if coaching, counseling, and/or corrective actions are warranted.

You may need to add fictitious names and other realistic, but fictitious, information to round out your SLP 4.

In this Assignment, you write a proposal for some form of social advocacy that will seek to change a social, organizational, or legislative policy. The proposal may also involve advocacy for the amelioration of a social problem. The purpose of this assignment is to thoughtfully and thoroughly plan how you will advocate changing a social problem or policy that is of interest to you.

The policy practice/advocacy can take whatever form you wish and can be on any level: agency, community, state, or federal. You will submit a prospectus that describes the problem that is being addressed and the expected advocacy activities. You are expected to carry out the activities planned in this proposal and will present on your actions and outcomes in the Week 10 Final Project assignment

Noninfectious Disease Presentation

Scenario: You are an epidemiologist for a health research consulting firm. Your firm has been hired by a local hospital to assess the effects of disease occurrences on health care planning. The study period will cover the past 5 years, during which time the region served by the local hospital has seen an increase in certain health conditions, similar to other parts of the United States.

Your role is to review relevant information related to the hospital’s readiness to anticipate healthcare needs related to noninfectious diseases and resources to address those needs. In this part of the project, identify and evaluate epidemiologic studies and other data that have direct applicability to noninfectious diseases, which may result in an increased utilization of health care resources. Your evaluation will be presented to the hospital board.

Select an existing health condition that may be reduced or eliminated based on lifestyle or environmental choices. Locate a current experimental or observational study of your selected health condition. (some suggested topics can be Lung cancer, Heart condition (The Framingham Heart Study), or your choice).
Prepare a 10 – slides (excluding title slide, questions and answers slide, and reference slide). 2-slides for references. A total of 12 slides. Do the following in your presentation:
o    Briefly describe the health condition you selected.
o    Describe the experimental or observational research study of the health condition.
o    Critique the research study in terms of the study design’s strengths and weaknesses and the relevance and usefulness of the data.
o    Critique the implications of the research findings, including morbidity and mortality repercussions and potential treatment implications.
o    Provide suggestions for additional research, including a description of the preferred design, that would add value and understanding to the health condition from an epidemiologic standpoint and how goals could be achieved through the research study.

Ergonomic risk assessment tools are intended to assist in the identification of the risky components of high-risk jobs that can be ergonomically redesigned. For this units discussion, please share your experience with using ergonomic risk assessment tools in your current or previous employment. If you have not previously used ergonomic risk assessment tools, please share your thoughts on which tools you feel you are likely to use based on the information provided in this unit lesson.
