New Testament Analysis Presentation
Pauls letters shape a great deal of the doctrine of the early church and our modern church, as his letters form a large piece of the New Testament that we read today. Throughout the epistles, Paul introduces several different doctrinal themes which have powerfully shaped Christianity throughout the centuries.

For this assignment, please construct a presentation (PowerPoint, Prezi, Powtoons, etc.) on a major Pauline doctrine from the list provided. Please choose one doctrinal theme from the following list:

Faith
Justification
Sanctification
Adoption
Ecclesiology
Day of the Lord
Please address the following based off of the theme that you select:

Explore the importance and significance of this particular doctrine in Pauls theology.
Discuss/explore how the teachings of Jesus influenced Pauls understanding of this particular doctrine.
What impact does this doctrine have on the modern church? How should Christians live in light of this doctrinal truth?
Be sure to utilize, in proper context, various scripture references in your presentation. The presentations should be 4-6 slides long, not including the title slide and reference slide. If you selected a video tool to create your presentation, or to include a voiceover, please make the video no more than 6 minutes long. If you do not include a voiceover, please include detailed notes in the notes section of your presentation that would assist any presenter.

If you need assistance with any technological tool, there are several guides to using technology for your submission located on the Dashboard for this course in Blackboard under the Technology Quick Guides.

Discussion Prompt: Weak and Strong Christians

Christians today are divided on what a “good” Christian looks like. Can you drink alcohol, smoke cigars, gamble, go to “R” rated movies, or vote for political candidates who are not “Pro-life”? In this session, we will look at Romans 14-15:13 and try to discern Paul’s view (biblical view) of “weak” versus “strong” Christians. Read the passage again and then respond to the following questions:

Define what Paul means by weak and strong based on this passage.
What conclusions can you make regarding weak and strong Christians in our culture today?
Paul is using the issues of ‘diet’ and ‘special days’ to illustrate his principles. What kind of issues do these translate into in our current culture?
What principles is Paul giving that we can apply to our lives and culture today?

Submit your Word file to this assignment.

Tips for Success: Use the template on p. 289, and follow the summaries example at the bottom of page 280.

For 1 of the passages below (from Grasping God’s Word), apply the Interpretive Journey. Answer (type into a Word document) the specific questions listed under Step 1 of page 416 of Grasping God’s Word. Then write a paragraph for each of the other steps (typed in your Word document).

Micah 6:6-8 (Assignment 21-1)

For 1 of the passages below (from Grasping God’s Word), study the text and make as many observations as you can. Mark the observations in a Word document. Be sure that you understand the meaning of all the words. Do background study and word studies as needed to understand each term. Next, identify the historical-cultural and literary context. When and where is this law given? What does the surrounding text discuss? Finally, apply the Interpretive Journey to the text by completing for your selected passage the five-step Interpretive Journey typed into the Word file.

As the student reads the book of Acts, he or she will fill out the provided template, giving each chapter of Acts an appropriate title, writing out a key verse from the chapter that supports the title, and identifying the three major events of the chapter. More detailed instructions are provided in the template.

Complete this assignment as you read the book of Acts during this term, and submit it in Module 8. For each chapter of Acts, provide a title followed by one significant verse from that chapter that supports the title, and then list the three most significant events or elements in each chapter. Be sure that the title for each chapter captures the primary events of the chapter.  Be clear and specific. The title will be created by putting each chapters content into a single sentence and then narrowing it to a title, such as Stephens Message before the Sanhedrin Leads to His Martyrdom for chapter 7 or The Jerusalem Council Concludes that Salvation is Apart from Circumcision and Moses Law for chapter 15. Following the title, write out one significant verse from that chapter that supports the title. Its not enough to give a verse reference; write out the entire verse, then give the reference in parentheses following the verse. Finally, list three most significant events or elements in each chapter. Avoid the temptation to copy the titles that you may find in your copy of the Bible.  Copying will be of no value to you in knowing more of the book of Acts, and will become evident to the teacher as these titles are usually consistent throughout Bible versions.  These titles will only come to you if you read the Scriptures for comprehension.
