For the paper you will choose a relationship between you and one other person (this can be the same
relationship you used for Paper One. This relationship can be a work relationship, friendship, romantic
relationship, or familial relationship. Using your text, class notes, and class discussion, assess the relationships
communication based on what you have learned in the second half of this class (Chapters 7-12). Be sure to use
the vocabulary you have learned. The paper should have the following form:
Introduction – Introduce the relationship, describe the relationship, and give any background information that
you feel is relevant to your paper.

Body Use specific examples of actual events and conversations that describe the aspects of communication in
the relationship including an assessment of emotions, communication climate, conflict, and either friendships,
romantic relationships, or family (you can use a combination of these as well – for example, a family member or
a romantic partner may have qualities of friendship as well). Please identify the concepts youve covered by
typing each concept in parentheses at the end of each example.

Conclusion – Predict what you think the future of this relationship will be in regard to communication and
processes. If you think it will last, tell me why. If you think it will end, tell me why. Be sure to support your
prediction for the future of this relationship with information we have learned in class related to the
assessment you made. For this paper, be sure to include a minimum of 25 specific examples demonstrating how the information in
these chapters applies to the communication in your relationship. These 25 examples should be given based on
as many different concepts as possible (an average of 4 5 examples per chapter usually works). The idea is to
assess as many different aspects of communication as you can using the information we have covered in the
second six chapters. You will be graded based on the number of specific concrete examples you use to
demonstrate that you have learned, understand, and can apply the material we have covered. Your paper
should be error free. Your grade will reflect errors spelling, grammar or otherwise.

Humanities
Comparative Rhetorical Analysis of Disciplines

Objectives: o Differentiate the language, style, and format in sample writings for different disciplines o Discuss the writing strategies for each discipline o Review and practice MLA style and documentation

Introduction:
The comparative analysis is part classification, as its purpose is to identify the defining elements of each discipline. Being able to identify the specific focus, audience, language, style, structure, and purpose of various texts allows one to better understand the use of conventions, and how to use these conventions to reach specific discourse communities. Reading articles from the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences will increase literacy in these specific areas and help one acquire the needed language skills to approach each discipline. It will increase knowledge of discipline- specific language and reinforce effective reading strategies to process, comprehend, and critically analyze a wide range of texts.  Assignment: This assignment will include three articles, each from a different discipline. You will read all three articles and determine which article belongs to the humanities, social sciences, or natural sciences. You will then produce a two-page essay wherein you discuss and compare the language, style, and format for each article. Consider the following questions: Minus journal titles, what indicates each articles discipline? How is the overall paper organized? What writing strategies are being used?

Requirements: o Two full pages, double-spaced o Times New Roman, 12-point black font o MLA style and documentationincluding a works cited page for the three provided articles (see articles provided under the assignment link, please) o Use of academic third person (no first person I or second person you, please) o Comparative discussion o Discussion of language, style, format, and focus of the disciplines, to include textu

In this assignment, you will choose a scenario with data from one of 5 options provided at the end
of these directions under Project Topics and you will construct a paper that pulls together the
statistics you have learned in order to answer a question. You will:
1. Introduce the main question, and explain the data that you will use to address it
2. Organize your data by providing appropriate charts, graphs and descriptive statistics
3. Analyze your data by conducting a hypothesis test
4. State your conclusions and recommendations
See the section Outline Of Material To Present below for a more detailed explanation of what you will
submit for each of these foursections.

Write an paper of at least 750 words (excluding quotations, headings, and works cited) in which you make an interpretative claim about the story. Identify a theme and craft a thesis statement that says something interesting about the short story you chose and the theme you’ve identified. Follow the generalized outline found here: Overview of Summary versus Analysis

Remember, your thesis needs to say something specific, so for example, if you identify the theme of the story as “love,” you’d need to assert what the story is saying about love. Simply stating “this story is about the importance of love” is NOT a thesis. Think about what observation or commentary the author is making about human experiences.

Formatting and structure: Your paper should follow the general outline found here and include the following:

An introduction that ends with your thesis statement making an interpretative claim about the short story. Please note, a statement must end in a period. Do not ask a rhetorical question. You can review thesis statements here.
An organized discussion that is developed clearly and thoroughly throughout the essay using well crafted body paragraphs (as many as you need). You can review paragraph construction here and here.
Specific examples, which are cited properly, from the production of the play, the text of the play, and the relevant textbook materials to support your assertions.
A conclusion that summarizes the ideas presented in your essay.
Format and Style Requirements:use the writing requirements, analysis paper guidelines, and style guide

Note about outside sources: outside sources are NOT required for this essay.

Frederic Henry’s perspective and attitude about war changes drastically in this story by Hemingway.  How and why does Henry’s change happen?  I kind of need to see what a  reflective essay in which you explain Henry’s change in thinking about war and connect this to a personal experience where you underwent a significant change of perspective would look like., how and why this change happened, and how this benefited your life. The essay’s thesis statement and body contents should refer to A Farewell to Arms and clearly state the connection. The conclusion should refer back to A Farewell to Arms too.
