Chapter Written Assignments: At the end of each chapter there is Video Case Project. Please provide a one to two-page paper on the topic. This work should include an opening paragraph clearly restating the questions (DO Not simply copy the questions). Then apply at least one complete paragraph on each of the topics, followed by a closing or summary paragraph. Cites and structure should comply with APA v6 style. Each assignment will be worth 25 points.

There will be a discussion question or topic based on the “Chapter Questions” located at the end of each chapter. Please pick one and develop a line of thought to discuss.

The discussion question are open at the course beginning and close on the due date and time. No late work will be accepted. You can earn 25 points a week by participating in the discussion board. You will be graded on the quality of your responses, answers or questions, not merely on the fact that you participated. Please apply the Critical Thinking rubric to your work. Your posting must be Substantive:

Thomas Jefferson & Archaeology

Read the three articles that are posted. The old article by Lehmann-Hartleben is often cited as the basis for the assertion that Thomas Jefferson was the “father of American archaeology,” a designation that subsequently made its way into many archaeology textbooks, including current ones. The 2005 article by Thomas views Jefferson’s role in the beginnings of American archaeology as complicated.  Focus your essay on the ideas presented in Thomas’s article.  Exactly what were Jefferson’s positive contributions to American archaeology?  to American anthropology?  What were his responses to European attitudes toward North America?  Was Jefferson a defender of the American Indian? What policies did he support that contributed to scientific investigations in archaeology and other disciplines? Did he support policies that had negative impacts on Native Americans? To what extent were Jefferson and his ideas the result of the times in which he lived?

    students must complete one either Project 1 or 2, pick the one of most interest personally and/or professionally.

    These projects will require that you utilize the Internet or other resources beyond your textbook to complete.. Since each project is different, there are no maximum resources required; however it is important that you strive to develop a comprehensive overview of your subject topic.
    Therefore a minimum of two references and your text book will be required.

    References on reference page & in the body of the text must be formatted in APA style according to Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (6th edition only).

    Your final product will be evaluated on your accuracy and insight about the  topic and task assigned in the project, the support you provide for your information through the use of research, ideas, and references from the course.

    You will be graded on quality of writing (e.g., clear and concise, proper grammar, syntax, spelling, and marks of punctuation).

    20 points total.

    Lastly, the projects are graded according to the point scale on the rubric.  Use the rubric to guide your work.

Option # 1:
    Select four (4) court cases identified outside of the textbook, internet and other resources.
