In The Catcher in the Rye by J.D Salinger published as a novel in 1951, the theme of
this novel is youth and innocence. The novel actually takes place in some sort of hospital where he is receiving treatment, the novel is written in first person point of view. The protagonist of this novel is Holden Caulfield. Throughout the novel Holden makes it clear that he adores young adolescents and he feels that its his job to protect the innocence of children like a God. One symbol in the novel is the ducks, the ducks leave in the winter and return in the spring, symbolizing that change isnt permanent.

Additionally, you are encouraged to refer to other published materials discussed in the course and others you referenced in assignment 3. 

Without limiting originality of thought, your essay should have the following sections:
