For your final essay for this class, you must write a research-based essay on a public figure you admire. You must get approval from your professor when you have selected a public figure before proceeding. Additionally, you should use at least two sources to support your arguments and claims about why you admire this person and what he or she has achieved that makes him or her worthy of respect and admiration. Suggestions for public figures: James Baldwin, Kamala Harris, Joe Biden, Anita Hill, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King Jr., Dwight D. Eisenhower, Albert Einstein, etc.
As a reminder, any instances of plagiarism in your final paper will cause you to receive a 0 and will be reported to the school. This can impact your financial aid.
You must type this essay in Microsoft Word using a correct header, Times New Roman font, size 12, double-spaced. Remember to provide a list of your sources at the end of the essay.
Length: 2-3 pages.

Prompt: Write a critical analysis of the film. Your analysis should include, at minimum:

A brief background (country of production, year, director, etc.)
A brief summary and further analysis of what you believe are key scenes or moments, and how these scenes illustrate the themes of the film
An evaluation of the strengths and weaknesses of the film
How the film connects with the larger themes of this class. You should reference at least two other movies that weve seen in class this semester.

Other Instructions:

Avoid first and second person (I, me, you)
You are not required to consult outside sources, but if you do so you must cite them

A

An A writer will illustrate the ability to not only briefly summarize the film, but also evaluate its strengths and weaknesses.  It will also link the film to other issues raised throughout the course (i.e. other readings, films, or lectures) to provide a critical perspective. To be critical means to take an approach to your analysis that questions the information you are reading about. For example, dont just state that a part of the film was weak, but explore why you think it was weak and what the producer could have done to strengthen it. Or perhaps you make a connection between the films depiction and the other films you have watched for the class. A critical perspective would successfully link how the film and other films watched in the class are similar or different.  An A paper is grammatically sound and coherent.

B

A B writer may successfully do some parts of the A quality paper better than other parts. Perhaps the summary of the film is inaccurate, but the analysis is strong. A B paper also contains grammatical or stylistic errors, but nothing major that significantly disrupts the text.

C

A C writer merely summarizes the film without critiquing and analyzing it. Be careful not to just summarize the film and not include any references to the readings. What does it mean to analyze and critique? A C paper also is not structured coherently (i.e. is missing an introduction, summary, analysis, or conclusion) and has grammatical errors that significantly disrupt the reader when reading.

D

An D writer is too vague, sloppy, and inaccurate. An D writer provides a paper that feels rushed; as if the writer waited to the last minute to create it. The paper provides no analysis, and shows no college-level ability to critically think about the very important and serious issues of politics in Africa. It could also have severe style and grammar errors.

Read chapters 5, 6 & 7. For each chapter choose one of the questions in the chapter to write a reflection. Each chapter reflection should be about 300 words each.

For your initial posting, write your reflections on one of the For Further Thought? questions (or activities) found throughout the chapter of your textbook. Remember to elaborate in your initial post on your understanding of the concepts presented and how they relate to your experiences (write around three paragraphs).  Also provide examples from your personal experiences when appropriate. If you prefer, you could also choose to create your own question and write your reflections on something in the text that was relevant or interesting to you (as long as you work to expand upon your knowledge or understanding of the course material).

Students should submit the Final Leadership Project Paper in APA-style, 10-pages, that includes the
following sections (please include the questions):
1. An introduction of what your leadership project encompassed (who did you lead, what did you
lead them on, etc?).
2. What your particular leadership conundrum was all about (what did the issue focus upon,
details,etc.)?
3. A discussion of what the leadership style you used is all about in dealing with the group and
why you think that was the style you used (document and relate to the literature out there)?
4. How did you deal with your particular conundrum in leading the group (list references and
ideas that might relate to how you handled it)? Did the ideas you gained from the interviews
help? Did fixing the conundrum help lead the group or not?
5. A discussion of available data regarding whether the leadership approach you used worked or
not (any studies of it from research?).
6. A discussion of how successful the project was and how you might have lead the project
more effectively.
7. A discussion of what still needs to be learned about the style you used (studies that might
help, or other uses of it that still need to be explored).
8. A summary of all of the above at the end of the paper.
9. A bibliography (not included as part of the 10-page requirement).

Annotated Bibliography please see feed back and make corrections. This is all tied together with  this essay. I added the annotated bibliography to give an idea the instructor purposely did not structure it as it should be. Effective professional development is based on addressing the identified needs of the participants. Collecting and analyzing data prior to creating the professional development presentation is an important step in the professional development process. Once professional development has been delivered it is important to determine if the instruction has met learner needs or if further training is required. Results from satisfaction surveys can also help in the process of modifying presentations for more effective implementation in the future.

For this assignment, create two data collection tools: a needs assessment and a satisfaction survey.

*For students who are enrolled in the Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction program, save both surveys for application in EDU-588.

Needs Assessment Survey

The purpose of the needs assessment survey is to discover what professional development topics your colleagues believe would be most beneficial to them.

Create a list of at least 15 suggested topics that are appropriate for your school and are specific enough to address in a single professional development session. Choose one topic related to learners rights and teacher responsibilities (e.g., educational equity, appropriate education for learners with disabilities, confidentiality, privacy, appropriate treatment of learners, reporting in situations related to possible child abuse).

Using a 1-5 Likert Scale, create a survey that could be distributed to your colleagues via an electronic survey platform.

Satisfaction Survey

A satisfaction survey is designed to assess the level of participant satisfaction with a professional development session. Develop a generic survey using a 1-5 Likert Scale that could solicit feedback following any professional development session.

Include the following:

At least 3-5 questions to evaluate the quality and relevance of the information presented.
Minimum of 3-5 questions to evaluate the effectiveness of the presentation and the presenter.
At least one open-ended response soliciting qualitative feedback.
Prepare your survey to be distributed via an electronic survey platform.

Submit links to your online surveys along with a 250-500 word rationale for your design choices, including the following:

How are the topics you suggested relevant to your particular school or district?
What law is related to learners right and teacher responsibilities for the chosen topic (e.g., educational equity, appropriate education for learners with disabilities, confidentiality, privacy, appropriate treatment of learners, reporting in situations related to possible child  ) and how does your school or district implement the law?
Why you believe the tools you developed may elicit valid and reliable data?
Support this answer with 3-5 scholarly resources.

While APA format is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and in-text citations and references should be presented using APA documentation guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.
