Provide an overview of the selected reading you have analyzed, briefly describing main points, and your reaction to the author’s claim.
State your evaluation of the author’s claim that you will prove in your essay. This statement will give direction to your essay and should be well thought out.
II. Body

The body of your essay is your opportunity to support your evaluation about the author’s argument. Make sure your thoughts and evidence are clear and easy to read and understand.

Be sure to write multiple paragraphs that are focused, clearly state their intent, and move logically from one to the other, building the analysis as the essay progresses.
Your body paragraphs should support your analysis by combining thoughts and ideas with evidence or key points from the selected reading. There is no such thing as a right or wrong evaluation; the key is how your analysis is supported and the quality of the evidence used.
III. Conclusion

Think of the conclusion paragraph as a review of your analysis. Use this section to restate your evaluation and remind readers of your supporting evidence. Think of this as your last chance to prove your point.

Write an overview of your analysis, summarize your key points from the selected reading, and describe how they helped you form your analysis.
Explain what you have learned about critical thinking, analysis, and revision to future writing activities in your academic or professional life.
Guidelines for Submission: The draft of your analysis essay should be 1-2 pages in length. Save your work in a Word document with double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, and one-inch margins. Then, check your writing for errors. Once you have proofread your document, submit it via the Module 5, 5-4 First Draft of Critical Analysis Essay Assignment link in Brightspace.

Write an essay that thinks through your understanding of what is Queer Studies and respond to the following quote:

Where is the space in queer studies for a feminist who still believes that state sanctioned marriage is one of the most insidious forms of institutionalized racism? Sharon Holland.

You cannot use this quote in your essay, though. Explain what position the above statement takes by citing one of the assigned readings from class. Gay marriage has been upfront in mainstream struggles for same gender couples. How can LGBTQ Studies grapple with issue of race and gender when it comes to marriage?

Give a short description of what they stand for, and their history.  Do you think the group that you chose should be allowed to do what they are doing?  Take a side and explain if you think what they are doing is free speech or hate speech and should it be allowed to occur.  One last thing, do you think, that either one of these groups could become a terrorist organization.

You must use social media to do this assignment. Please list all urls that you viewed and used to come to your conclusion.  I recommend that you use YouTube to review speeches given by either of the two groups.

Comment upon a recent social media campaign which you have experienced, personally.
What was the subject of the campaign, and by whom?
What venue did the campaign use (instagram, facebook, google ads, etc)
What language, messaging, or other communication techniques did it use? Why, do you believe, did this marketing communication arrive in your online experience, or be shown to you?
What data did it attempt to collect from you?
What actions did it prompt you to take, or how did it try to compel you to act, in relation to the brand?
How impactful was the campaign, in compelling you, as a consumer, to act?
Did the marketer learn more about the demographic it targeted? If so, how, or why not?
Assume the campaign targeted several groups, and how did it spur them to respond. How did it measure its impact?
Did you observe any advertising technology, used by the campaign? What tools did the campaign appear to use, to analyze the viewer?
Research the concept of relational database schema. What would the database schema look like, for this project?

Vanessa Lazo was an amazing high school student and so it was no great surprise when she was accepted into Prestige Private University (PPU). To entice Vanessa to attend PPU, the school offered her a reduced tuition of $13,000 per year (full-time tuition would typically be $43,000 per year). PPU also has a scholarship program thanks to a large donation from William Gatos. Vanessa was the Gatos Scholarship winner and will receive a scholarship for $20,000. Vanessa is required to use the scholarship first to pay her $13,000 tuition and the remainder is to cover room and board at PPU. Lastly, PPU also offered Vanessa a part-time job on the PPU campus as a student lab assistant in the Biology Department of PPU for which she is paid $1,500.

Required 1: Go to the IRS website (www.irs.gov) and locate Publication 970. Review the section on Scholarships.

Required 2: Write a letter to Vanessa Lazo stating how much of the PPU package for Vanessa is taxable. Make sure to reference the IRS Publication in your letter.  (An example of a client letter is attached to this assignment.)

News, and news sources, are critical to the way we see the world. How do we determine if a news source is credible and the information is both thorough and accurate? This assignment challenges students to compare online articles about the same criminal justice-related or ethics-related issue from sources that fall into loosely “liberal” and “conservative” websites and which show distance difference in coverage. The assignment combines digital literacy (findings and identifying articles on the same topic from two discrete sources) and critical thinking (analysis of the impact that biased information may have on readers). The final version of the assignment is an expansion of the directions outlined above. You will NOT submit an outline, INSTEAD, in a narrative format, the student should briefly explain the subject of the articles, the areas of commonality, and the substantive differences in their coverage. The student should then address the impact that reading only one of the two articles might have on the average reader. Will the reader fully knowledgeable about the issue? Finally, students should blend the information between the two articles into a complete and true explanation of the issue presented such that the reader is well and thoroughly informed. Students should ensure that copies of the two comparative news articles are included as part of the assignment, and not as an attachment to a separate document. The easiest way to do is maybe to combine the narrative and two sources into a single PDF.

Begin with the story and tell it in its entirety. After the story, state your claim in the resolution paragraph. This option is more difficult to pull off as you need to make sure the story is compelling enough so that the reader does not become lost.  Regardless, make sure your thesis connects to your story.
