For this paper assignment, I would like you to consider the particular perspective from which Vasari was writing these biographies. Every piece of writing can be considered to contain a degree of bias driven by the authors own personal preferences or prejudices.

Begin by reading the Payne article and your chosen Vasari bio. You may want to start your three-page paper by reflecting upon Vasaris dedications to Cosimo I de Medici that precede the biography. Think about the fact that Vasari was himself an artist, whose most important patron was Cosimo I, who was the Duke of the Florentine Republic from 1537 to 1569. Next, consider the way that Vasari has framed your chosen artist and how he has used them to construct a hero narrative. How did Vasari spin these narratives to reflect well on the region and on the Medici? It is not necessary to read any additional material outside of these two readings. If you make reference to a particular passage in either text you should cite the page number using the format of your choice (Chicago Manual of Style or MLA).

1. When Raymond Dart discovered the Taung Child, Australopithecus Africanus, how
was he convinced that it was a human ancestor? What mistakes did he make when
attempting to prove this to other paleoanthropologists? It has often been said that
Dart attempted to do this at the wrong time in the wrong place. How would this
explain his failure to convince the scientific world that he had discovered the oldest
human ancestor? Consider where the Taung Child was found and also keep in mind
other paleoanthropological discoveries occurring at the same time. Additionally, keep
in mind the Zeitgeist. of the time; i.e., the way people thought in the early 1920s.

Paragraph 1 How do we plan for the next time a hurricane hits New York City? Do you think since the storm has come and gone that city is now better prepared for the inevitable to happen again? Climate experts say that sea levels in the region have not only increased but will likely get higher as time goes by, so the question is: Which is the right path forward for the City of New York? Does the city continue to build sturdier and higher sea walls? Or do you just accept the consequences of flooding and implement smarter methods to make the local infrastructure more elastic and easier to recover?
Paragraph 2
(“The Power of Resilience” By Yossi Sheffi)
In this week’s chapter the author speaks about the Procter & Gamble Company (P&G) and how they saw the value in helping their employees after the hurricane struck. Please provide an example(s) of another company that has helped their employees significantly when there was a disruption of service in their community. Try to take examples from the book to compare things that could have been done better or are similar to what you read.

Pull the companys most current K-10 report and attach it with essay. Use this to answer the below questions. In a Microsoft Word document briefly describe the company(corporation), product, and the industry within which it operates. When is the fiscal year end for this company? What are the company’s total assets, liabilities, and equity, Income (loss) for the most recent year? (Be sure to provide the actual numbers provided in the report)

APA FORMAT “3” REFERENCES

Read Chapters 10 and 11 of “Hey, Whipple” and post your comments in the Discussion.  We’re all reading the chapter so your comments should be a critique and personal analysis, not a synopsis. Bring something new to the discussion – your own insights, opinions, and viewpoints.

In 1-2 few paragraphs, discuss how correlations (as depicted by scatter plots) and the normal curve help to describe test results.

Think about examples from the natural world that were depicted in the two videos on statistics that you watched earlier in the unit (available here: scatter plots and correlationand the normal curve “”).

How do these examples help you understand how to interpret test results? When discussing the normal curve, think about the continuity of the two variables being correlated and the frequency of various test scores.

Go to a valid job website such as http://www.monster.com, http://www.hotjobs.com, or http://www.careerbuilder.com. Pick a job that might be interesting for you to have when you graduate from college with a business management degree. What is title of the position? What kind of organization is this? What is the salary range? What is the job description? What are the job specifications? What makes this interesting to you? Were you surprised by anything in this listing?

Keep in mind the following when choosing a job-
The selection techniques and procedures that companies use when deciding which applicants should receive job offers

Selection is the process of gathering information about job applicants to decide who should be offered a job. To make sure that selection decisions are accurate and legally defendable, the EEOCs Uniform Guidelines on Employee Selection Procedures recommend that all selection procedures be validated. Validation is the process of determining how well a selection test or procedure predicts future job performance. The first selection devices that most job applicants encounter when they seek a job are application forms and rsums. Nearly all companies ask an applicant to provide employment references, such as the names of previous employers or coworkers, whom they can contact to learn more about the candidate. Background checks are used to verify the truthfulness and accuracy of information that applicants provide about themselves and to uncover negative, job-related background information not provided by applicants. Unfortunately, previous employers are increasingly reluctant to provide references or background check information for fear of being sued by previous employee for defamation.

When previous employers decline to provide meaningful references or background information, they put other employers are at risk of negligent hiring lawsuits, in which an employer is held liable for the actions of an employee who would not have been hired if the employer had conducted a thorough reference search and background check. Selection tests give organizational decision makers a chance to know who will likely do well in a job and who wont. The basic idea behind biodata is that past behavior (personal background and life experience) is the best predictor of future behavior. In interviews, company representatives ask job applicants job-related questions to determine whether they are qualified for the job. Interviews are probably the most frequently used and relied on selection device. There are several basic kinds of interviews are unstructured, structured, and semistructured interviews.

Ownership and Fraud

For-profit hospitals exist to secure a return on investment for their owners. Nonprofit hospitals act as a community benefit. Regardless of ownership, all hospitals are required to comply with state and federal laws.

Focus your discussion on the following:

Discuss the similarities and differences between for-profit and nonprofit hospitals and possible debt financing patterns.
Using scholarly resources, ascertain which is more apt to practice unethical executive behavior.
