Read Exemplary Company Showcased: Netflix, Inc. (NFLX) on page 90 of your course textbook. As you read, pay close attention to Netflixs strategy, and write a case study describing the points listed below.

What are Netflixs internal strengths and weaknesses?
Who are Netflixs competitors?
Do you see Netflixs strategy as effective or ineffective? Why?
Your case study must be at least one page in length, not counting a title page and reference page. Outside sources are not a requirement for this case study, but if you choose to use them, they must be cited and referenced according to APA standards.

1) Managers in more advanced analytics companies give more weight to analytics when they make key business decisions. Employees frequently look for signals about what is important to management, and whether what is important today will be important tomorrow.
How can management help employees understand what analytics are important to monitor on a regular basis and what analytics could fluctuate as the business cycle runs its course?

2) The manager of a large manufacturing firm is considering switching to new and expensive software that promises to reduce its assembly costs. Before purchasing the software, the manager wants to conduct a hypothesis test to determine if the new software does reduce its assembly costs.
Would the manager of the manufacturing firm be more concerned about a Type I error or a Type II error? Explain.
Would the software company be more concerned about a Type I error or a Type II error? Explain.

1) What is machine learning? How does it differ from statistically learning? Give an example of each. Are both still relevant and important when making business decisions? Explain your answer.

2) There are a number of learning scenarios, or types of learning algorithms, that can be used depending on whether a target variable is available and how much labeled data can be used. These approaches include supervised, unsupervised, and semi-supervised learning. Explain the difference between each type of machine learning. Give an example of how each is used.

3) What are todays primary ways through which machine learning tasks are tackled? Explain the concept of deep learning and how it differs from machine learning. How are organizations using deep learning to help make business decisions?

4) Most organizations are just scratching the surface of what they can learn and accomplish through the analysis of unstructured text. Opportunities for large and small businesses, as well as applications, are expanding. How can text analytics be applied to solve todays business problems? What are some of the challenges organizations face when implementing text analytics solutions?

5) Suppose your company takes orders for its products, which are supplied to your company by vendors. You want to create a relational database of this information. Discuss the relationship between orders and products and between products and vendors. What tables would you create for this database and what would you include in these tables?

6) Suppose you are an HR (human resources) manager at a big university, and you sense that the university is becoming too top-heavy with full professors. That is, there do not seem to be as many younger professors at the assistant and associate levels as there ought to be. How could you study this problem with a simulation model, using current and/or proposed promotions, hiring, firing, and retirement policies?

Using your favorite search engine, research the mission and vision statements of different fortune 500 companies. Then, you will write an essay in which you compare and contrast the mission statements of two companies and the vision statements of two companies. You may use the same companies for both the mission and vision comparisons or separate companies.

Within your essay, include the information below.

Explain the principle value of two vision statements.
Explain the principle value of two mission statements.
Compare and contrast vision statements of each organization in terms of composition and importance.
Compare and contrast mission statements of each organization in terms of composition and importance.
Do you think organizations that have comprehensive mission statements tend to be high performers? How do mission and vision statements assist in selecting an industry-specific strategy?
Explain why a mission statement should not include monetary amounts, numbers, percentages, ratios, goals, or objectives.
Your essay should be a minimum of three pages in length or approximately 750 words, not including the title and reference pages. You must also include an outside source from the CSU Online Library to support your explanations.
