A 78-year-old female comes to your office escorted by a neighbor who is a patient of yours. The neighbor, who has lived next door to the older woman for years, relates that a week ago the elderly womans sister died and that she had been her caregiver for many years. The neighbor relates that although she would occasionally see the older woman, she did not visit the home. At the funeral last week, she noticed that the woman appeared fatigued, confused, sad, and gaunt in appearance. Later the neighbor approached the woman, inquired about her health, and determined that the woman had a very difficult time the past couple of months, caring alone for her sister until the end when hospice care was initiated. The neighbor convinced the woman to seek medical care and today is the first appointment with a provider that this 78-year-old female has had in 3 years. The older woman states that she is very fatigued and sad over the loss of her sister. Neither her sister nor the patient has been married. A distant niece came to the funeral but lives about 30 miles away. The woman states that she is not taking any prescription medication and relates no medical problems that she is aware of being diagnosed.

Assignment: online photography exhibition for history of photography class
Turn In
Written Paper minimum of 3 pages long separated by part 2 and part 3, typed in 12 pt font double-spaced. Do not include images in your paper, only the link with the 3 chosen images.
Write part 2, your personal reaction to the images you have chosen (make sure you address all the question from the prompt below)
Here are the 3 images I have chosen;
Write part 3, the exhibition review
Go to Ann Arbor Art Center (Photography): http://www.annarborartcenter.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/ART-NOW-Photo-2020_Exhibition-Catalog.pdf
This assignment is about looking at images and involves critical thinking, creating a review of an exhibition, and making some art yourself! Looking, in this context, is really about seeing: you will describe, interpret, evaluate, and theorize. Ask yourself questions such as: What is here? What is this about? How good is this? Is it art and why? Follow up your visit and review by making some of your own images inspired by your museum exhibit selections.
Part 1: Take a walk through all of the photography exhibits.  ( I ALREADY DID THIS STEP AND CHOSED THE 3 IMAGES)
Part 2: Write Up, 3 images: Pick 3 (from any exhibit) and record your personal reactions to the images selected in your own words. Remember, its about seeing photographs; refer to purpose above. Look at design elements that went into creating the composition, the subject matter, the photographic process used, any message or story, the scale of the photograph, whether its color or BW, etc. Detect any other technical evidence used to make this image. Make notes describing the work: Give the artist and title, the medium, size, subject matter/content, design elements (light/dark, line, shape, texture, pattern, color, tonality, contrast). How do the images you chose relate to one another? What is the concept in these images?  Why does the work resonate with you?
Please address all of the prompt questions above. If the online gallery does not provide information about the artist or images, please look up that information elsewhere BUT MAKE SURE YOU CITE. First, come up with your own conclusions and see if they align with or contradict the artist’s message.
Here is the title for the 3 images I have chosen; please click on the link and go to the online exhibit and escrow down for the pictures, just look for the titles.

Part 3: Write Up, Exhibition Review
Use the same exhibition above (one cohesive set of images). Talk about the overall look of the exhibition youve chosen. Is the work sequenced well (how do images relate to one another and what is the flow like)? Are there enough photos or too many? Is there enough text information or not? Do some photos depend on the text to give them meaning? How do you like the overall gallery look?  What is the concept of this exhibition? Does it successfully represent its title?

As city dwellers, were often busy working and/or going to school. Many of us leave our homes and get in our cars, or bikes, or skateboards, and get on the road. At this speed, (especially if we drive) we miss or ignore many environmental conditions that make our landscape. You are assigned to explore your local environment, the Central Valley of California, and compare that to a foreign environment. Throughout the semester we are covering different topics of the environmental conditions of Earth (ex. insolation, wind, humidity, hydrologic cycle, clouds/storms, plant and animal life) As we cover each of these topics, you should be examining your local and foreign environment and documenting your findings.  You will then research another region in another country that you would like to explore. Compare and contrast the environments of California’s Central Valley and your chosen foreign environment. What are the weather conditions or climatic patterns of each landscape? What wind patterns dominate the areas? What temperature ranges do you experience? How do you experience moisture such as storms, clouds, or fog? Use weatherspark.com (Links to an external site.) website to find weather patterns of different environments (only use this website for reference, you must connect this information to topics learned in the textbook/lectures, or with real examples that you either experience, or information from your sources.

Do not quote the articles, summarize them in your own words instead.

A couple of days after the family fight in the The Gift story, Larry spends hours into the night hesitating and thinking about the prospect of losing both his parents support and the financial rewards of being the new owner of the family business. He finally gives in and reluctantly accepts his parents gift without consulting with Joan, his fiance. Upon hearing the news, Joan is hurt, furious, and hopelessly disappointed at Larry to the point of reconsidering her upcoming marriage with him. A few hours later, she calls her best friend, Aisha, who for having taken Dr. Rofougarans course on negotiation and conflict resolution recently, tells her about the class discussions, Difficult Conversations, Beyond Reason, and the The Seven Elements of Integrative Negotiation. Joan borrows and reads both books avidly and she spends a few hours thinking about possible ways to use the tools provided by those sources to talk with Larry. Empowered by the new light shed on resolving conflicts, she decides to use the insights she has gained in order to negotiate a way out of the impasse. Please, write an essay explaining how Joan might prepare for her difficult conversation with Larry.

Scenario:
Larry, a 26-year-old man, and his fiance, Joan, visit his parents for Christmas. Larrys parents, Jack and Alice, have met Joan before and like her very much. Generally, it is a positive situation all around. They all get along fine.

During the dinner, Jack announces, We have a big gift for you this Christmas!
You do? says Larry suspiciously.
We want to entrust the business to you, Larry and Joan, Jack replies proudly, and have you move to Billings and run it!
Larry gasping for air, says: Oh, uh, thanks.
I dont think that would work for the two of us, Joan says.
Alice becomes nervous. She says: More pie, Larry? and Joan, would you like some more turkey? Alice continues to fill the silence with: Jack, what do you think about this new gravy?

And a family fight follows.

If there is one thing that separates leaders from managers (and there are many), it would have to be ‘vision’.  Managers are tasked with implementing a plan of action.  Leaders “create compelling visions that guide people’s behavior.” (Northouse, chapter 7).  But what is vision?  According to Northouse ), “it creates a picture of a future that is better than the status quo, …represents a change in the status quo, …is about the values…that people find worthwhile, …provides a map…that gives direction, …and challenges people to transcend the status quo to do something to benefit others.”

To understand the role vision plays in your life, we will explore your vision for your life, how to develop vision and how you can act on it.  First, complete the Leadership Vision Questionnaire (attached).  Next answer the following questions.  Be sure to number your responses (i.e. do not write your paper in a narrative form).  Do not include the questions in your paper.  Be sure to support your answers using concepts (citations) from the text or other sources.  Link your reactions to the text citing the referenced page. Of course, papers should be organized, thorough, with proper sentence structure.

QUESTIONS

1) Stephen Covey (1991) contended that effective leaders begin with the end in mind (p. 42). These leaders have a deep understanding of their own goals and mission in life. How would you describe your own values and purpose in life? In what way is your leadership style/philosophy  influenced by these values?
2) Creating a vision usually involves trying to change others by persuading them to accept different values and/or different ways of doing things. Are you comfortable influencing people in this way? Give an example of a time when you have persuaded others to accept different values or different ways of doing things. How were you able to influence this change?  Use what you have learned so far about leadership skills, behaviors, traits, etc to explain your influence.
3) Analyze your score on the Leadership Vision Questionnaire and use it to assess your ability to create a vision for a group. Identify two specific ways you could improve your abilities to create and carry out visions with others.
4) Write a brief vision statement describing your vision for your life.  Next, identify the parts of your vision: a picture, a change, your values, a map and a challenge to yourself.  Be sure to read Guide to Writing Vision Statements to assist you in constructing your vision statement.
