Professional Context
Concept maps are widely used in nursing care. They can be effective tools for organizing workload, prioritizing patient care strategies, and developing personalized care approaches. In addition to organizing care, they can aid in ensuring that the a patient’s care is individualized to not only their health conditions, but also their familial cultural, and environmental situation.

Scenario
You created a draft of an evidence-based concept map to illustrate an approach to care for a patient in the Evidence-Based Patient-Centered Care media piece. For this assignment, you will build upon and refine your draft of the concept map, as well as develop a narrative to support your concept map. Your concept map and narrative for the individualized care of your chosen case should demonstrate that you have considered and researched the following.

Instructions
The bullet points below correspond to grading criteria in the scoring guide. Be sure that your map and narrative address all of the bullets below, at minimum. You may also want to read the Evidence-Based Patient-Centered Concept Map Scoring Guide and Guiding Questions: Evidence-Based Patient-Centered Concept Map (both linked in the Resources) to create an outline for your assignment and to better understand how each criterion will be assessed.

When creating your concept map and narrative, be sure to note the areas where you need to include your evidence-based support. Also, be clear about what your communication strategies are for relating information to the patient and their family.

Part 1: Concept Map
Develop a patient-centered concept map based upon the best available evidence that has been individualized to treat your specific patient’s health, economic, and cultural needs.
Part 2: Narrative
Analyze the needs of both the patient from your chosen case and their family to determine how they will influence a patient-centered concept map.
Justify the value and relevance of the evidence you used as the basis for your patient-centered concept map.
Propose criteria that can be used to evaluate the degree to which the desired outcomes of the patient-centered concept map were achieved.
Apply strategies for communicating with your chosen patient and their family in an ethical, culturally sensitive, and inclusive way.
Integrate relevant sources to support assertions, correctly formatting citations and references using APA style.
Submission Requirements
Length of narrative: 4 single spaced, typed pages. Your narrative should be succinct yet substantive.
Number of references: Cite a minimum of 35 sources of scholarly or professional evidence in total between your Concept Map and Narrative. Be sure you are citing evidence in both parts.
APA formatting: Resources and citations are formatted according to current APA style.
Please submit both your concept map and your narrative as separate documents in the assignment submissions area.
You must submit both documents at the same time. Make sure both documents are attached in the assignment area before submitting your assignment.

In Chapter 3, you read about Logical Arguments, and in Chapter 6, you read about Counterarguments. In this post, we will explore an argument for or against a contemporary issue. Write a brief but reasoned argument for or against the following. The goal is to be logical, but recognize that I am forcing your classmates to disagree with you.

Argue for or against: “Self-driving cars are the way of the future. They will reduce vehicular deaths because they will always make decisions where the least number of people die. So, for example, if your car is certain to be in an accident, the self-driving car may drive you off of a bridge to keep you from crashing into a full school bus and sending them into the icy water below.”

Individualizing Care in Your Practice or Organization
This discussion will focus on professional discourse about your personal experiences and observations of individualizing care for patients in your practice and care settings.

For this discussion, please address the following, being sure to adhere to the guidelines in the FEM:

Describe an experience you have had working to individualize care for a patient (or describe a time in your care setting that you observed care being individualized for a patient).
Briefly explain the patient’s considerations that were addressed as the care was becoming individualized.
How were the patient’s other health concerns taken into account?
How were the patient’s culture and beliefs taken into account?
How were the patient’s economic and daily environmental realities taken into account?
What ethical considerations, if any, were there for working with this individual patient?
Reflect on things you would have suggested doing differently, if you could revisit that patient’s case.
Note: Remember to not disclose any confidential patient or organizational information in your post. Also, citing outside sources is optional for this discussion.

You are required to provide a thread in response to the provided topic. Thread is to be a minimum of 250 words, cite at least 2 academic sources, and demonstrate course-related knowledge. Acceptable sources include the textbook, peer-reviewed journal articles, government sources/websites, and professional association websites. In addition to academic support, you must apply a Chrisitian worldview perspective and integrate Biblical scripture support for the post.

Topic:

Officers are trained to handle emergencies first, before securing the crime scene, even if valuable evidence could be lost or destroyed.
Why is this critical?
What factors should the responding officer consider when he realizes that he is on a “hot” call a potentially dangerous situation that is currently unfolding?
Which one of these factors played the biggest role in your decision-making and why?
Integrate a Christian worldview perspective to support your discussion.

As a nurse educator, you will primarily be teaching adults; therefore, understanding adult learning theory and how various learning theories apply is important. It is also important to develop your own teaching philosophy, similar to your nursing philosophy but applied to nurse education.
Using your understanding of adult learning theory, learner-centered education, and applicable learning theories, discuss how you will apply these ideas as an educator. What theories will be most important to you in your teaching role? Explain why you selected those theories. How do they fit with your developing nursing education philosophy?

Tripartite Model Reflection
Write a short paper (1 page) reflecting on how you will meet the three aspects of the tripartite model for nurse educators: teaching, service, and scholarship. The reflection paper should include the following:
State clearly the role of nurse educator that you plan to have after completing your MSN.
Briefly analyze the teaching, service, and scholarship expectations for that role as you understand them.
Discuss how you might meet each aspect of the tripartite model: teaching, service, and scholarship. If you have specific goals, such as writing for publication, please include them.
Analyze any specific additional qualifications that you believe you will need for this role and how you see being a change agent in this role (additional education, certifications, skills, and so on).
Additional Requirements
Use correct APA format, including running head, page numbers, and a title page.
Use 12-point Times New Roman or Arial font.
Your paper should be free of grammar and spelling errors that distract from content.
Citations and references (if used) are to be in correct APA format.
This is a reflection paper and is largely your own views. The use of references is optional; if you do reference, follow correct APA format. You may write in first-person point of view.

Imagine you have your own child and you notice that her/his urine turns from yellow to black after a couple of minutes. Through the years, you also notice that her ears, areas of her/his face, hands, and eyes begin to turn gray or even black (see photos below).  What is going on? Is this a bacterial infection? A virus? Eventually you found out your child has Alkaptonuria – a genetic condition.  What is alkaptonuria? Why those symptoms? How common is it? How complicated is it? Is it lethal or does it have a cure? What is it about our genetic material or our genes that would make a human have alkaptonuria? Does it come from our parents or grandparents and then we inherit it? Why would anyone would have alkaptonuria in the first place? If this is a mutation, why would a mutation cause alkaptonuria and not another condition? What would you do if you have alkaptonuria or some relative or close friend? Do you think this condition makes the person who has it a disabled person? Why, or why not? about alkaptonuria and write an essay about it.  The questions provided above are to motivate you to investigate about this topic; you do not need to answer them one by one. The essay must be at least five paragraphs long, and each paragraph must contain at least five sentences (you can write more than five paragraphs and more than five sentences per paragraph if you wish to do so). The content of your essay must be written entirely in your OWN words.  Use in-text citations in parenthesis, APA style, if you paraphrase information from other authors. Paraphrasing is not copy-pasting or copying and changing a few words from other authors’ writings – it is writing it in your OWN words to explain the authors’ writings. Only when necessary, you can quote, but these quotes do not count towards the last tally of the number of paragraphs and sentences required from your OWN writing.  You must cite at least three references you used to investigate about this topic at the end of your essay (use APA style).  You must submit your assignment using SafeAssign; your assignment will not be evaluated if it is not submitted through SafeAssign. This assignment can be submitted twice, and only the last submission will be evaluated
