Since this week’s reading topic was HR related,  I felt the ‘Zero Policy’ article was appropriate which is found in the ‘article’ tool.  HR is the department that often develops and finalizes company policies in larger organizations.  The V.P. of HR is part of the strategic management staff of the organization, so policies would need  the approval from the strategic management staff of the organization.  :

Applied Devices implemented a zero-tolerance policy.  You are hired from someone outside the company to review the policy. Based on the details of the article, what is your recommended  position on Applied Devices zero-tolerance policy?  State clearly the advantages and/or disadvantages you see with such a policy.  Be sure to substantiate your position.

Examine the impact that Alexander the Great’s conquests had on the Afro-Eurasian world. Don’t just talk about how “great” he was. Sure, it’s in his name, but there’s much more to examine, such as how his military operations shaped cultural interaction and diffusion. Also, analyze the lasting impacts his conquests had on the areas stretching from the Mediterranean eastward to China.

Fundamental to individuals both learning and retaining new movements is the reinforcement they receive during the learning process. For example, a coach simply saying, no, that is incorrect is a type of external reinforcement that can provide incentives for the athlete/learner to change their movement efforts. Almost no learning occurs without some type of reinforcement. Meaning, feedback that provides support for the accuracy of the movement, or lack there-of. In Banduras classic Social Learning Theory work, he presents a strong case that humans are very social beings. And as such, what we see, feel, hear, and experience have profound effects on our behavior.

Bandura makes a strong case for principles such as distinctiveness of a model that may be demonstrating a movement. If LeBron James is demonstrating a free throw as compared to you, it is reasonable to expect that the learner will attend to his presentation and ideas with much greater focus. An individuals arousal level and past reinforcements will also have great influence on a learners motivation to both attend to relevant information and meaningfully engage in the learning process. What we are talking about here are those factors that will affect an athlete/individuals willingness to practice, dig deeply, repetition, repetition, repetition!

What reinforcement you provide, and how you deliver that reinforcement to a learner will set the table for their understanding, eagerness, and ultimately success.

In assignment 2 you are asked to illustrate your strategy in providing reinforcement to a learner,

-First, select a skill of interest different than that chosen in assignment one. (Different than Running)

-Second, explain the learners ability, experience and learning situation

-Third, find and summarize two peer reviewed journal articles (one-page review + APA reference per article). One article supports your thoughts on the importance of reinforcement, and the second article provides application of goal-setting principles.

-Fourth, identify:
Three external reinforcers you could use
Three vicarious reinforcers you could apply/recommend
Three internal reinforcers you will nurture
Three negative reinforcers that may be used
Three punishments that are frequently used

Conclude your presentation with a one-page explanation of how you will teach this skill using the reinforcers identified: the order, frequency, and type of rewards. Include the possibility for temporarily failure and corresponding reinforcement as well.

The goal of this assignment is to explain various perspectives on the land through the study of a biblical passage.

Read the narrative about Naboth and his vineyard in 1 Kings 21:1-29. Note that there are 4 significant characters in this narrative: Naboth, Ahab, Jezebel, and Elijah. The assignment is to view the land through the eyes of each of these characters. What was his or her perspective of the land? Make sure that you know a little bit about each individual as you read the narrative and then determine their view of the land in this situation.

Write 1 short paragraph on each of the 4 individuals that summarizes their perspective of the land in this situation. How does each individual visualize or think about the land? Feel free to interject your own evaluation of the land of Israel during Old Testament times as you interact with each of these characters.

The goal of this assignment is to demonstrate how an understanding of ancient culture enhances the understanding of a biblical passage. This assignment provides an opportunity for students to demonstrate how an understanding of ancient culture, including the environmental aspects of ancient Israel, and the daily life and times of the Old Testament people aids in the understanding of a biblical passage.

For this assignment you will need to select 1 of the biblical passages listed below:

Isaiah 5:1-7Song of the vineyard (agriculture: wine and vineyards)
Isaiah 28:23-29Parable of the farmer (agriculture: farming)
Isaiah 44:12-17Idolatry polemic (craftsmen and idol making)
Jeremiah 32:6-16Sign of land purchase (land transaction)
Jeremiah 36Burning Jeremiahs scroll (writing: literacy, scrolls)
Ezekiel 27:4-9Sinking of Tyre (ship building, ships)
Ezekiel 34:1-19Good and evil shepherds (shepherding and herding)
Hosea 7:3-9Israels sins (baker and bread making)
Habakkuk 1:14-17Fishing allegory (fishing industry)
Read the passage selected from the above list and take note of any aspects of ancient Old Testament culture. Research the primary cultural references mentioned (or alluded to) in the passage. Create and upload a PowerPoint presentation (about 5-8 slides) that teaches the cultural relevance of your passage and how it enhances the understanding of the passage. Suggested points might include the following areas:

Illustrations of the cultural backgrounds of ancient Israel from the passage.
How an understanding of ancient culture enhances the meaning of the biblical passage.
An application of the passage for believers today.

Please give the Power point a cover page and make other slides creatice as well, thank you for all your hard work.

Imposter syndrome (spelled also as impostor syndrome), generally describes high-achieving individuals, who despite achieving obvious success, fail to internalize their accomplishments, resulting in feelings of ‘feeling like a fraud’ in their work, personal, or academic lives.  In this assignment, you will apply the principles of imposter syndrome to your personal experience as a transfer student entering the College of Engineering and Applied Science at the UC . In this assignment, you are to address two main questions:

1) In what particular areas of your academic journey have you noticed imposter syndrome the most?  This may include reflections on:

->Academic settings (courses, subjects, secondary or university campuses)
->Co-curricular activities (clubs, sports, organizations, leadership opportunities)
->Personal identities (gender identity, Person of Color, first-generation college student, non-traditional student, transfer student, geographic background, income status, etc.)

2) What are some tools, tactics, or practices you can use in your own life to overcome imposter syndrome?  To discover these, please consider:

->The class presentation and discussion on imposter syndrome
->TED Talk, or other informative video resources
->Published, peer-reviewed research on imposter syndrome
->Discussions with family members, friends, or peers on similar topics
->Personal experience in overcoming feelings of being a fraud

Although the assignment is primarily a personal reflection on this topic, it should include one reference to support your description of imposter syndrome and ways to overcome feelings of being a fraud.

Alternatively, if you do not identify as experiencing imposter syndrome at all, please use this paper to explain your stance, and ways in which you can collaborate and build up others (in your classroom, workplace, social gatherings) who may be feeling like an imposter in those settings.  Please still cite one reference.
