Prompt
I’d like you to write paragraph about  your ICE CORES research paper in which you tell us:

1 Why ICE CORES related to climate change have piqued your curiosity and may form the basis of your big research project.

2 How you think you might go about attaining reliable sources to pursue answers to your research inquiry. (This can include long-term intentions to do field studies; I really enjoyed your answers as to whether or not you’d ever be interested in performing ice-core analyses,

3 Finally, post the first draft of your research question that focuses on your specific area of curiosity at the intersection of climate science and your intellectual enthusiasm.
For your Draft Research Question (RQ): Try to avoid a question that can be answered by Yes or No! For example, the question: “If re-elected, will Donald Trump reverse his denialist stance on climate change?” – The answer to this is probably “No.” And I could put my pen down right there. However, I could ask, “What events or influences might alter Donald Trump’s current denialist stance on climate change if he is re-elected?” Then, I could undertake significant, albeit highly speculative!, research into possible sources of influence on his Administration’s future climate policies.

Try as we may, whether economies have markets that are laissez faire, loosely or tightly regulated, or
whether the government is the major decision maker, markets do fail. That is, they fail to register the
appropriate/proper/efficient prices and quantities in the marketplace. Costs and/or benefits may, in
some markets, spill over onto people outside of the market transactions thus, the externality. Some
are positive (my neighbor who lives to the left of me, has a flower garden that improves my quality of
life and hes done all the work) and some are negative (my neighbor to the right of me lowers the
quality of my life with the two broken down cars he keeps on his front lawn). Noting what has been
mentioned above, take a positive externality or a negative externality and explore it in detail. Examine
the role of social costs and benefits, private costs and benefits, what role, if any, can the government or
even the private sector play in correcting the externality, is there a free rider problem associated with it
and can it be corrected? As we attempt to correct for the externality what additional tradeoffs may the
private and/or pubic sectors make? You should use graphs to help reinforce and bolster your argument.

Sabina Maglioccos book The Two Madonnas deals with a number of broad themes: the relationship between the sacred and the secular, the relationship between popular faith and orthodox religion, the intersection of religion, power, prestige, and politics, the impact of globalization and change on religious traditions (the relationship between the local and the global), the important relationship between religion and community. In your paper, discuss and critically analyze two of these themes and how they play out in the celebration of festivals in Monteruju. Support your discussion and argument with well-chosen examples from the text. In two to three final paragraphs, draw some comparisons with other material we have discussed in the course that have similar importance with regard to the two themes you have chosen to write about. Here you may also bring in examples from your own experience as long as they are pertinent to the argument and the comparison. Finally, tell me what your reading of this book adds to your understanding of religious diversity.
Please be thoughtful and thorough in your essay and bring in examples from readings (you should use some direct quotes and when you do cite the page number and author: as in Magliocco, p. 7).
