Organization of the Paper: (further explanations and examples can be found in the Survival Guide handout)
1. The Introduction. (Not necessarily in order.)
A) Write a Short Description of the Work You Have Chosen. Include identifying subject matter or forms, setting or space, color, and medium, artist and current location.
B) State Your Main Argument. A thesis statement related to the overall effect or meaning of the object.  (i.e. What does this work mean?)
C) State (Briefly) the Ways in Which You Will Prove It. (Forecast your main points.)

2. The Main Body:  You will describe three or four pieces of evidence from the work youre looking at to support your thesis statement.  This evidence can be from any of the following areas. You dont need to use them all.
A) The medium (the material the work is made with), the mediums traits, and the artists use of the medium.
B) The relevant visual elements (i.e.: line, shape and space, composition and relative scale, light and color, style)
C) The composition (i.e.: unity/variety, balance, emphasis, focal point)
D) The subject matter, if the work is representational.  (What does it picture. If there are people, how do they react to each other or the viewer.)
E) The relationship the formal elements and composition have to the subjects meaning (or overall effect).

3. The Conclusion.
A)Restate the Main Argument.
B) Place this work of art into the big picture. Relate it to a larger issue, art-historical movement, etc.

4. Attach an image of the object (This can be a postcard purchased from the museum bookstore, a photograph, or your sketch. Your own sketch does not need to be professional quality.)

Choose any ONE of the following topics for your research paper.  It is not necessary to email me which topic you chose, but you must write about one of these topics from the list below:
1. What caused European colonialism, who were the major colonial empires, and what was the impact of colonization on India, South Africa, and Indonesia?
2. What is the Israeli-Palestinian conflict about? What are the motivations and strategies of the actors involved, and how has that conflict affected (or might affect) international relations broadly?
3. How and why did Russia annex Crimea from Ukraine? How has the conflict between Russia and Ukraine affected the region and international relations broadly? Be sure to include the effect it has had on U.S.-Russian relations.
4. How have human rights affected international politics? What state and non-state actors have had the most direct impact on expanding international human rights? What role have human rights considerations played in the formulation of American foreign policy?
5. Why has North Korea pursued nuclear weapons and how has that affected its relationship with South Korea, China, and the United States? Provide an overall analysis of U.S. foreign policy toward North Korea.
6. Choose a country in South America and describe the relationship between that country and the United States. How has that relationship evolved and what is the current status of that relationship? What role does that South American country play in regional politics and more broadly in international politics?
7. What role does the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the primary judicial branch of the United Nations, play in international politics? What supranational powers, if any, does the ICJ possess? How have recent political trends affected the ICJ and other international organizations?
8. Choose a country in Africa and describe the relationship between that country and the United States. How has that relationship evolved and what is the current status of that relationship? What role does that African country play in regional politics and more broadly in international politics?

10. Describe the historical relationship between the United States and China. How has that relationship evolved over the years? What is the current status of the relationship between the U.S. and China? What role does China play in regional politics and more broadly in international politics?

Students will write one research paper. The paper must be typed and double-spaced, with Times New Roman 12 font (four to six pages/1,000 to 1,500 words) in MS Word and/or PDF. Papers must be in Chicago style format (author-date) and contain at least five peer-reviewed academic sources.

Since the topic of the paper is the choice of each student, objectives will include number 8 but at least one and most likely more of the following:

1. Identify key filmmakers, films and advancements in the history of film.

2. Identify characteristics of different types of films and film genres.

3. Recognize proper definitions and use of technical and aesthetic film terms and production strategies.

4. Demonstrate critical understanding of the cultural role of film as a medium of communication and expression in society.

5. Analyze different creative elements that go into making a film.

6. Assess the effectiveness of the different creative elements in a specific film.

7. Recognize how modes of production and contexts of viewing effect the interpretation of a film.

8. Demonstrate understanding of proper academic format and use of film terminologies in writing about film.

Final research paper: 20% of the overall grade. Late papers will drop 5 pts. automatically on the same day and 10 pts. off each day it passes by (check under Calendar). Also please dont forget to send an electronic copy of your final research paper to BlazeView.

Students will write a short comparative paper (between 6 pages minimum and 8 pages maximum) based on a specific topic mentioned in our textbook (for instance, poverty, mysticism, love, devotion, religious art, war and peace, nonviolence, education, religious beliefswhich one?, rituals or practices, etc. but narrow them down and be specific!) using one major Eastern/Asian (Hindu, [Zen] [Tibetan] Buddhist, Jain, Sikh, Daoist, Confucian, or Shintoist) religious thinker and one Western (Zoroastrian, Jewish, Christian or Muslim) religious thinker mentioned in our textbook. Choose a specific topic that you are passionate or curious about it!!! Narrow it down and avoid overgeneralizations.

Important Note: You must use the topic approved in the Proposal paper or send me a new Proposal paper if you change your mind for approval many days ahead before the deadline.

Rubric: You will lose half a point for each mechanical error that it is not repetitive both in the final research paper and in the Works Cited page. You will lose 5 pts. for missing a clear similarity and/or 5 pts. for missing a clear difference, 3 pts. for each missing quote, and 1 pt. for each missing source. You will drop up to 10 pts. off if there is no use of personal pronoun I as part of the personal input.

A) Write a thesis statement at the beginning of your paper explaining why you chose this topic and what you found interesting about it. One good paragraph will do it. Have a good conclusion at the end explaining what you have learned anew after doing research on your topic.

B) Students will select one major religious or spiritual theme or motif (See Sample). Find out one major similarity and one major difference between one Eastern/Asian (ex. The XIV Dalai Lama as a Tibetan Buddhist) religious thinker and one Western (ex. Elie Wiesel as a Jewish) religious thinker based on your researched topic mentioned in our textbook. Cite good examples and rational arguments to back up your opinions with scholarly sources throughout your paper. I recommend at least 4 quotes (at least 2 of them must come from our textbook) for the similarity and 4 quotes (at least 2 of them must come from our textbook) for the difference (so at least a total of 8 scholarly quotes must be used throughout your final research paper).

All answers must be in print. Use the new MLA style. The minimum of pages is 6 and the maximum of pages allowed is 8. Use pagination numbers (ex. Serrn-Pagn 1). Use double spaced. You are required to use the pronoun I (such as I think, I agree, I disagree) in all your papers. Combine facts, personal input and scholarly sources throughout your paper. Select at least 8 scholarly quotes and cite the sources in parenthesis throughout your paper. For instance, .. (Fisher 112). Then cite at least 6 complete sources (at least 1 from our textbook, 2 from scholarly books, and 3 from scholarly articles in the Web written by religious scholars or found in religious peer-reviewed journals published online) in the Works Cited page (on the back of final paper).

6 pages minimum and 8 pages maximum. The first page should include the introduction of your topic (thesis statement) and the history of the problem you are trying to tackle. The second/third page should address the similarity (give an example with 4 quotes and 4 sources, and your personal input). The fourth/fifth page should focus on the difference (give an example with 4 quotes and 4 sources, and your personal input). And the sixth/seventh/eight page should be the conclusion. Have a paragraph at the end indicating what it was the most interesting thing you have learned about your researched topic. Explain it in your own words.

**Please find other secondary sources as well and if you can acquire the textbook Living Religions by Mary Pat Fisher 8th Edition (chapters on Buddhism and Christianity that’s a bonus)**

US History to 1877 Current Event Exercises: An important aspect of this course is to connect aspects of history to the present; therefore, you will complete four current event exercises. You will write a 500-word paper on a current event and discuss its connection to our class. Topic can include industrial revolutions just so as you connect the event to history. The current events will use APA citations and be submitted via Safe Assign

OBJECTIVE In the Risk Management Course, many different risks related to life, health, and loss of income exposures were identified and discussed, as well as various insurance products available for dealing with these risks. This project is a critical thinking exercise that provides the student with the opportunity to assess their personal situation related to financial planning, estate planning, and a personal risk management analysis, and the possible solutions related to each area. This paper will only be seen by you and your instructor.

DELIVERABLES

Your paper must include:

1. Status of financial planning for your family. Describe whether you have established financial goals, developed and implemented a plan for achieving those goals, and identified a process for reviewing and revising this plan.

2.Describe any steps that you have taken for estate planning for your family. If no estate planning has been done, explain whether this is something that you may consider for the future and why.

3. In developing a comprehensive financial plan, risk management is a vital component.  Conduct a personal risk management analysis for you and your family.

4.Be sure to include:
-The Facts of the Case
background information to set the context.
-Analysis of the risk of completion of all goals and objectives and any significant others in your family.
-Identify the income needs in regards to family goals and objectives.
-Identify all possible solutions addressing the problems.
-Analysis of the risk of loss of health for yourself and any significant others in your family.
-Identify the income needs related to disability, sickness, or premature death.
-Identify  possible  solutions  addressing  the  problems  associated  with  disability, sickness, or premature death.

5.Wrap up the paper with an action plan of steps to be taken to solidify the financial/risk management plan for your family.

6. Conclude by discussing what you have learned from this exercise.

7.Reference all material. Minimum of 3 references needed outside of textbook. (4 total).

The paper must be properly cited using APA methodology.

Managing cancer care amid pandemics such as the global COVID-19 faces a number
of challenges and constraints, not only in relation to cancer care processes and
systems readiness to cope with, but also in relation to legal, social, ethical and
professional (LSEP) issues. The situation becomes more severely challenged in the
absence of readily available national polices, processes, standards, and quality
requirements to deal with pandemics. This, however, exerts further and unplanned
pressure on cancer care centres and their associated nodes, which are already already
under severe resourcing issues including targeted timescales for the cancer care life
cycle of cancer patients, availed resources for the different cancer care processes such
as diagnosis, treatment, nursing, social, financial support, etc.

In addition, it may not be surprising that many cancer care organisations do not have
well-documented and formalized process architecture (PA) reflecting cancer care
processes whether being strategic, management, or operational. Therefore, in
pandemic times – such as COVID-19 – specific characterisation not only the absence
of a PA has serious implications, but also the readiness of the organisation structure,
agility of its processes, readiness of related information technology systems, alignment
with cancer patients specific circumstances, and their socialising circles pose particular
challenges to cancer care professionals working in a cancer care organisation in
different process roles endeavoring to deliver compassionately and safely cancer care
to patients, but also saving themselves and their societal circles from COVID-19.

You will need to conduct a critical literature review to identify an issue that (you
consider) needs further research and development but is also anticipated to benefit
cancer care organisations from the application of (and readiness of) cancer care

process architectures, service learning, and fitness-for-purpose related cancer care
information systems in their cancer care organisations, with the aim of delivering
compassionate and safe cancer care by cancer care stakeholders, and operatives not
only for themselves but also their societal circles.

Furthermore, the research issue that you identify should set out the background to
the design of an insightful research proposal that you need to develop using the Design
Science Research Methodology (DSRM), building on at least the notions of Riva-based
process architecture and alignment to service learning. Your proposal should explore
and reflect on the justification of why this research issue should be attempted, and
how it will be carried out using well-designated DSRM increments/loops along with
risk management discussed and aligned with each of these increments/loops. You will
need to justify, detail and reflect on the approaches and methods that will need to be
utilised in each of these increments/loops, and what any possible problems that might
be encountered.

Moreover, you will need to reflect on the resources (time, cancer care professionals,
researchers, etc) required for the delivery of the final product of your research
proposal with a time plan considering the nature of pandemics and the agility required
in the solution provided in a time span that you have in the research design for the
solution delivery. Use Cancer Center as the case study for your research framework design taking into consideration potential
LSEP requirements.

*** Finally, provide 500 words essay with a critique regarding the adoption of the DSRM
process approach in the context of your research proposal reflecting on this process
appropriateness, effectiveness, and efficiency.
