Before we begin to make arguments of our own, it’s important to understand the arguments made by those who came before us. For this assignment, students will individually collect six pieces of evidence from the prompt for the week. Students will submit a document including six citations, written as complete sentences, that accurately represent the claims made in the prompt. Of the six citations, two should be quotations, two should be paraphrases, and two should be summaries.

Introduction
Each person owes a duty to himself or herself and to the world to study ethics and to engage in thoughtful debate about what is right, and what is wrong. It is this habit of thinking about and reflecting on ethics that will help you determine the right choices when faced with an ethical dilemma.

Initial Post Instructions
Articulate a moral dilemma wherein one has to show a specific virtue or virtues (it can be any virtue or virtues including honesty, courage, charity/generosity, compassion, etc.)

What is the moral dilemma about?
What virtue or virtues should be shown? (You are here selecting the best course of action)
Why is that virtue or those virtues to be shown?
How should the virtue or virtues be expressed, and why in that manner?
Apply Aristotle’s golden mean to the dilemma.
Tell us how the dilemma involves conflict moral duties (loyalty to community versus to self, professional versus familial duties, national or personal obligations).
The dilemma must be a situation in which a choice has to be made.

Be sure you told us why your chosen course of action was best.

Environmental Health Hazards

Question 1: There are many environmental hazards found in the home, work, and environment. Describe at least two hazards from each of these 3 areas. What type of influence do these hazards have on populations?

Question 2: Environmental health disparities refer to vulnerable populations (such as the poor, homeless, immigrants, etc.) having greater exposure to environmental hazards compared with non-vulnerable populations. Discuss the factors that contribute to these disparities. Describe an environmental disparity in your community or one near it. What interventions could be used to mitigate the risks to these populations? How would you advocate for these populations?

1. Using the course materials for Political Science, provide a general overview and description of the main characteristics of the discipline.  (e.g. What is the definition; are there subfields in the discipline; how does the discipline approach understanding human beings; are there particular topics or issues that they focus on)

2. Identify 2 key concepts or theories from the Analyzing Politics text and describe why they are useful for understanding human society for Political Science.  Pick concepts that are not typical words that we all use regularly but unique to the discipline or unique in the way that the discipline uses the concept.

3. With their permission, observe a human in your household (or somewhere else) for 5 minutes.  Briefly, describe their behavior.  What aspects of this person or the activities they are engaged in would a Political Scientist be interested in; or what kinds of questions would they ask about them or their behavior? (I highly encourage you to use the information from your definition and/or 1 or 2 concepts to develop your response to a Political Scientists interests or questions)

4. Identify 1-2 findings from Dr. Mario Guerrero’s article research that you found interesting/disinteresting and discuss why. How does this research help us to understand human society? How can you relate to this study?

For this journal you will write three paragraphs.

In chapters 2-9, several characters experience significant changes in their destinies as a result of powerful people’s decisions.
