Week 1 DB: Barriers to Effective Teaching

Consider when you may need to fill the role of educator while caring for your patients. What are the three (3) greatest barriers (other than time) to effective teaching in any type of healthcare setting (or yours specifically if you are currently practicing in healthcare)? What strategies do you recommend to overcome these indicated barriers?

Here are some barriers noted by health educators.  Please feel free to use three of these or any other that impacts your role as educator.

Lack of: teaching tools; new scientific sources; good education environment; tendency for patient leaning; common language and culture for communication
Existence of: shame for learning; anxiety; frequent shift rotation

 

Assignment 1: Difficulties of Defining Terrorism

Due Week 2 and worth 75 points

There is no universal agreed-upon definition of terrorism. Terrorism means different things to different people, governments, and organizations based upon context.

Write a 2-4-page paper in which you do the following:

  1. Summarize, with citations, at least four different definitions of terrorism. Note: The definitions must come from sources such as U.S. government agencies (e.g., FBI, DOJ, CIA, DOD, DHS, DOS, DIA, NSA, etc.), international agencies and / or foreign governments (e.g. United Nations, England, Israel, etc.), or terrorism experts (e.g. Bruce Hoffman, Walter Laqueur, Brian Jenkins, Paul Pillar, etc.).
  2. Compare and contrast two of the four definitions summarized in Question 1. Provide a rationale for the differences between the two definitions based upon the context of the people, governments, and / or organizations that developed the definition.
  3. Select one of the four chosen definitions of terrorism that you believe most accurately defines terrorism. Recommend at least one change or enhancement that you would make to the definition. Provide a rationale for your response.
  4. Create your own personal comprehensive definition of terrorism. Identify the key criteria inherent in your personal definition, and explain their importance.
  5. Use at least three quality resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and similar websites do not qualify as quality resources.

Identify a possible technology-mediated collaboration (hypothetical situation). Identify the stakeholders, their roles, and strategies for engagement. Propose methods for the collaboration process that would be successful through technology-mediated interaction using the course readings to support your points. Why would your recommendations be successful? And, How are the strategies for technology-mediated collaboration different from F2F? What are some of the pros? What are some of the cons of each method? How do nonverbal cues factor in each method? Resources to be used will be given to writer

The student will be responsible for preparing a 2-3 page typed summaries* of a reading related to issues of human diversity in working with individuals of minority status. The readings will be chosen by the student, but must be from social work journals.

*The student may choose an alternative format.

The summary must include the following elements:
a. Title, author and source of the reading.
b. The main issues and findings reported in the reading. Special attention
should be given to issues of human diversity and populations at risk as presented in the reading.
c. The relevance of the reading in understanding human behavior in the
in the social environment.
d. The potential relevance of the reading for generalist social work practice.

Submit an annotated bibliography upon which your first paper is based. This will act as the foundation of your research materials and help summarize the articles books etc. you will be using in your case analysis.
Submit an annotated bibliography with at least seven (7) valid sources that you will use as the basis for your paper. Submit your work in APA format.
The topic for the annotated bibliography is a high profile contemporary criminal case, the Aaron Hernandez case.

Course: Information Governance

Chapter 3 starts with the identification and the introduction of the principles, and the characteristics of a successful Information Governance program.  Identify these Principles, explain their importance, and apply them to a scenario in your workplace.

1. Information security

2. Information accessibility

3. Continuous improvement

Using the article on the 20 companies who have made the most impressive change according to HBR, conduct outside research and present your findings on the 4 key areas they made change in. ( https://hbr.org/2019/09/the-top-20-business-transformations-of-the-last-decade )
Please include what the “as is state”-meaning how it originally looked and then describe the change they made and how it looks now. What were the key motivations. Who were the change agents of the company. Was the change mono centri or polycentric.

Please use concepts from the Powerpoints in course materials to craft your answers. 2 full pages- 12 font double spaced normal margins. This requires outside research. Also, provide all the detail statistics from https://www.statista.com/, https://www.bloomberg.com/, if possible.

Choose a country, other than the United States, that you are interested in and write an essay on that country’s place in the world economy. The paper must include (but doesn’t have to be limited to) answers to the following questions:

Your final paper must be typed and be a minimum of 8 double-spaced pages and the maximum of 12 double-spaced pages, not including the cover page, appendices, and bibliography.  The font size must be 12, the page margins not greater than one inch, and the pages must be numbered (do not number the cover page).  If you decide to include any charts, diagrams, or tables, they must be placed at the end of your paper in an appendix (before the bibliography) and appropriately referenced within the paper. You are expected to use at least 8 references for your paper.

Format of Paper 
The paper must have the following format:
1.    Cover Page:  Title, Name, Date, etc.
2.    Body of Paper: Make sure you have an introduction and a conclusion to the paper.
3.    Appendices:  If you have any charts, tables, etc., place them here.
4.    Bibliography:  A Listing of all the sources you have used in writing your paper.

This is the fourth (of five) Critical Thinking Posts for the course. It must be posted on Canvas by 8pm on Tuesday, January 14th, 2020.

Remember, this is an opportunity for you to take a position on a media and culture issue using your informed opinion by the theory and concepts you are learning about in this course.
