Movie:”Assassination”
Two paragraphs. Each paragraph should have one clear point or question, and all the sentences within the paragraph should be supportive of the main point. Primary information on the writer or the text, such as a plot summary, should not be included. Instead, the response papers should be venues for the expression of original and creative ideas and readings.

Students are free to write about what they liked or disliked in the text, what they think the main point of the text is, and if they agree or disagree with the approaches of the text.

Students also should demonstrate that they have read ALL of the required readings for the week. When citing a passage from a text, indicate the page number in parentheses at the end of the sentence.

America became a free independent nation. With the signing of the Treaty of Paris in 1783, the former mother country, England, recognized that its children, the colonies, were now on their own. A constitutional republic was birthed, and thus the challenges began. Slavery, the Peculiar Institution, was a monumental issue facing the country. Would it die or would it survive and possibly take a nation divided with it? This sectionalism followed Americans up into the Civil War. Dissect this crisis by addressing parts I and II below.

For the next part of this assignment you will create an outline of the main points you want to address in this paper. This will serve as the basis for your Assignment 2.2 Final Draft. (Note: Please use the Purdue Owl website to assist you with this assignment; this website can be accessed at: https://owl.english.purdue.edu/engagement/2/2/55/.)

Part 1:

Write a thesis statement that is one to two (1-2) sentences long in which you:
State your thesis on the significance of this slavery issue, as exemplified in your research. Justify your response.

For the first part of this assignment you will create a thesis statement. A thesis statement is usually a single sentence somewhere in your first paragraph that presents your main idea to the reader. The body of the essay organizes the material you gather and present in support of your main idea. Keep in mind that a thesis is an interpretation of a question or subject, not the subject itself. (Note: Please consult the Purdue OWL website with tips on how to construct a proper thesis; the website can be found at: https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/545/01/.)

Can You please narrow the topic.  Do you have statistics to indicate that MOST teens end up indulging in substance abuse?
Please proofread your goal.
Do not use the phrase “It might.” I look forward to seeing specifics as you move forward.

Title, Need, Goal and Synopsis

1.    Title: Drugs and substance abuse prevention
2.    Topic: Substance abuse

( Think about narrowing your topic.  Substance abuse is a very big area to cover.  Ask yourself “What about substance abuse do I want to teach them to be able to do?”

3.    Target audience: Parents
4.  A 1-paragraph needs statement stating why there is a need for this particular type of training. Refer to any research or personal observations you have in order to declare the need.
Teenagers are always in a constant struggle to establish their identities. Therefore, in the effort to overcome self-doubt and momentarily forget about their struggles, most teens end up indulging in substance abuse. As such, the family is regarded as the fundamental unit in society hence having a major influence on childrens emotional and social development. Based on an array of psychological researches, parental and family factors have a chief position to substance abuse in the long run (Coatsworth & George, 2019). Therefore, parents behaviors and parenting styles directly affect the childrens behaviors, abilities, and self-esteem. Children who grow up under positive parenting are more likely to possess lower behavioral problems hence more likely to overcome temptations to substance abuse. On the other hand, children who undergo negative parenting such as rejection are more likely to become substance users. Generally, parents have a major impact on their childrens decision not to use drugs hence the need to equip parents with proper training on parenting skills to prevent substance abuse among teenagers.
5.    A brief and general goal statement phrased as To provide parents with the knowledge and skills to enhance family bonds and strengthen parents to prevent teen substance

6.    A 1-paragraph training synopsis. This is an informal statement in general terms of what will be detailed very formally in the training.  It is what will happen during training. For now, describe how you will go about training the target audience.
Parents are the strongest influences and the primary role models for children hence necessitating the need for parents to talk to their children about substance abuse early. The training involves strategies aimed at enhancing positive family relationships, family observation and management and communication of family principles and anticipations (Meja et-al, 2019). This training is aimed at strengthening parenting skills such as increasing emotional attachment, increased communication, problem-solving skills, and family management practices. It might also include opportunities for the parents to bond with their children by spending positive time together.  The program will combine; efforts to shape family management by training parents to enhance their parenting skills and further incorporating family practice sessions. That is, sessions will involve parents attending their training groups and eventually combining the parents and children for practice sessions to monitor progress.
