These two cases provide examples of markets that are characterized neither as perfect competition nor monopoly. Instead, these firms are competing in market structures that lie between the extremes of monopoly and perfect competition. How do they behave? Why do they exist?

The Temptation to Defy the Law
Laundry detergent and bags of iceproducts of industries that seem pretty mundane, maybe even boring. Hardly! Both have been the center of clandestine meetings and secret deals worthy of a spy novel. In France, between 1997 and 2004, the top four laundry detergent producers (Proctor & Gamble, Henkel, Unilever, and Colgate-Palmolive) controlled about 90 percent of the French soap market. Officials from the soap firms were meeting secretly, in out-of-the-way, small cafs around Paris. Their goals: Stamp out competition and set prices.

Around the same time, the top five Midwest ice makers (Home City Ice, Lang Ice, Tinley Ice, Sislers Dairy, and Products of Ohio) had similar goals in mind when they secretly agreed to divide up the bagged ice market.

If both groups could meet their goals, it would enable each to act as though they were a single firmin essence, a monopolyand enjoy monopoly-size profits. The problem? In many parts of the world, including the European Union and the United States, it is illegal for firms to divide markets and set prices collaboratively.

Please answer the following questions as you write this cover letter. Also, please refer yourself as a finalist.

What are some of the biggest challenges facing Minnesota that you are passionate about? We recommend you research news articles, different initiatives led by the Walz/Flanagan administration, and other major initiatives that line up with your area of interest. Without sounding prescriptive, showcase that you understand a wide breadth of the major challenges that Minnesota is facing and are curious to learn more.

Why you are called to serve Minnesota? Why do those challenges matter to you? Why do you care about the Minnesota community and what  personal connection do you have? We recommend you approach this question with a deep sense of cultural humility, offering ones self for service.

What experiences do you bring to the table? What special skills, work and personal experiences do you have that will help Minnesota communities address our challenges? We recommend that you connect your work to the breadth and flexibility of needs.

What would be your overall impact on the Minnesota and local government workforce? How can you contribute to the overall development of Minnesota and its local government workforce? This is a good place to speak about your goals for investing in the community long-term, and about any diverse perspectives you may bring to the community and to local government.

**please refer to mental health and how MN/Minneapolis is the hub for East African communities**

PLEASE REFER TO THIS AS MUCH AS YOU CAN: About 5 years ago, I wrote a personal mission statement that read, I want to improve myself and the lives of all living things. I have lived by these words since the day I wrote it in my journal. As a young adult, I have always enjoyed participating in neighborhood volunteering events that catered to East Africans. It was an opportunity for me to support individuals that endured similar traumas as my family and I. Ive also helped start an initiative called CTN (Changing the Narrative), which is an organization  built on the foundation of broad-spectrum education and discussion throughout underrepresented communities. The mission is to spark a culturally competent dialogue in mental health by creating safe and meaningful spaces to ultimately educate our youth, families, communities, and leaders.
In my experience, Ive realized that the greatest way to help improve the lives of others is not by financial handouts. It is by building connections with people and giving them a sense of belonging and making them feel valued.
I have seen firsthand the hardships and injustices that befall on underrepresented communities and I feel a sense of duty to be part of the positive change and assist with providing much needed services. Services that include programs that move away from poverty, to educating and establishing direct care for individuals suffering from mental health. I want to empower people so that they can escape from the cycles of poverty and access opportunities that they are passionate about. I would absolutely love to give back to the community I was born and raised in and hope to use my knowledge and personal experience to help educate and uplift my community.

For your initial response (your answer to my question) and all responsive posts (to classmates) must be between 150-300 words and include 1 textbook references (more details in the “Instructions” below).

REVIEW THE LAWS FOR THE STATE OF FLORIDA ONLY

Under the ADA, reasonable accommodations must be provided to allow a qualified employee to perform the essential functions of a job. These accommodations range in everything from reserved parking to a specific software program to allowing service animals in the workplace. Consider a situation in which a person with a physical disability is hired in a car manufacturing company.
As his manager, how would you determine a reasonable and appropriate accommodation for your new hire?
Consider if the new hire requested an inappropriate accommodation. How would you respond?
What are two resources you could use to support your effort?

Discuss your responses and provide links to the resources.

Instructions
For full credit each substantive post should:

Integrate theory, research, and/or professional experience
Include specific examples and/or substantiating evidence
Include in-text citations and references in APA format
Stay on topic and address the course objectives

Answer the following questions.

1) Annie says “you can’t run a linear system on a finite planet indefinitely.” Another way to say this is you can’t have unlimited economic growth with limited resources. What does this mean and what does it mean for the future?

2) What changes are needed to ensure that our way of life supports rather than undermines the planet’s biological systems on which we depend? (Use in your response 2 of the following terms, externalizing costs, dioxins, perceived, or planned obsolescence.)

3) Annie says that in the United States, most of our leisure time is used to watch TV and shop. How much of your time per week do you spend watching TV? How much to you spend shopping? Be honest! 🙂

Revise the PICOT question you wrote in the Topic 1 assignment using the feedback you received from your instructor.

The final PICOT question will provide a framework for your capstone project (the project students must complete during their final course in the RN-BSN program of study).

Research Critiques

In the Topic 2 and Topic 3 assignments, you completed a qualitative and quantitative research critique on two articles for each type of study (4 articles total). Use the feedback you received from your instructor on these assignments to finalize the critical analysis of each study by making appropriate revisions.

The completed analysis should connect to your identified practice problem of interest that is the basis for your PICOT question.

Refer to “Research Critiques and PICOT Guidelines – Final Draft.” Questions under each heading should be addressed as a narrative in the structure of a formal paper.

Proposed Evidence-Based Practice Change

Discuss the link between the PICOT question, the research articles, and the nursing practice problem you identified. Include relevant details and supporting explanation and use that information to propose evidence-based practice changes.

We have looked at the issue of social inequality and its impact on health. Some social organizations and doctors are encouraging people to start viewing poverty as a disease, given its significant impact on our health.

See the following clip and article: Treating poverty works like medicine, doctors say

Should health care providers be concerned with treating poverty as an illness? Is this the right model?

The Code of Ethics for Nurses (American Nurses Association, 2015) Principle 9.4 calls nurses to “advocate for policies, programs, and practices within the healthcare environment that maintain, sustain, and repair the natural world” (p. 37). During a recent testimony for the Minnesota Climate Caucus, it was reported that nurses are ethically bound to recognize that “Social justice extends beyond human health and well-being to the health and well-being of the natural world” (p.37). Further, the Executive Summary of the 2019 Lancet Countdown report warns: The life of every child born today will be profoundly affected by climate change, with populations around the world increasingly facing extremes of weather, food and water insecurity, changing patterns of infectious disease, and a less certain future. Without accelerated intervention, this new era will come to define the health of people at every stage of their lives.

Like a debate, a position paper presents one side of an arguable opinion about a topic or issue. The goal of a position paper is to convince the audience that your opinion is valid and defensible. Ideas that you are considering need to be carefully examined in choosing a topic, developing your argument, and organizing your paper. Paper should be 5-7 pages in length or longer of necessary.
Select a topic related to how the environment affects the health of a population or how disasters affect communities or the effect/impact of infectious disease on populations. Review and present the relevant literature. Your job is to take one side of the argument and persuade your audience that you have well-founded knowledge of the topic being presented. It is important to support your argument with evidence to ensure the validity of your claims, as well as to refute the counterclaims to show that you are well informed about both sides. Be certain to consider all sides of the issue and present it in a clear manner:
