Investment potential in healthcare

Your brother-in-law, Representative Howard Hughes, lost his bid for reelection. However, thanks to your efforts, he established himself while in Congress as an astute analyst of the health field and, as a consequence, has taken a position as partner at the prestigious Atlanta investment firm of Keller, Keller, Keller, Keller, and Disher. You have decided to take him up on his offer to join him as a manager in the healthcare division.

The other partners have little insight into healthcare other than receiving care. Your brother-in-law has been asked to give a presentation (narrated PowerPoint) on the current status of the health sector and opportunities for investment.

Your job is to provide him with information on the healthcare industry. Key interest items are in the below questions. To be effective, detail needs to be specific, complete with sufficient depth.

The presentation PowerPoint slides must answer the following questions.

How is the role of government likely to change?
Will government be more or less involved in the health sector?
What impact will increased government involvement have on healthcare as a business opportunity?
Where do you see a potential for growth in the health sector?
What opportunities would make for wise investments (e.g., hospitals, home health, mental health, rehabilitation services, managed care, physician group practice management, etc.)?
Is technology a good investment risk? If yes, what sort or types of technologies are likely to be in great demand, assuming a national shift to an integrated delivery system model and a focus on prevention along with treatment?

Description of criterion
The 1015 slide presentation provides information organized in a logical sequence and it follows acceptable best practices. There is good contrast between font and background on all slides. Slides are enhanced with images and illustrations to help the audience understand the content. The layout is visually pleasing.

Organization and Cohesiveness
The presentation is well organized with the content properly subdivided into sections, and the conclusion includes recommendations, strategies, and solutions. It shows transitions, using appropriate relevant vocabulary, concepts, and theories. Logical flow is maintained throughout the presentation. All slides present one idea and a few supporting facts.

Text and Notes
The text on the slides is used to convey key information. The information displayed is clear and easy to understand

The final assignment is a 10-12 page paper identifying and discussing a social problem, due at the end of the last week of the term. This paper is designed to increase students skill in conceptualizing a social problem/need and interventions that address it, using the human behavior and the social environment framework. The paper defines and describes a social problem or the need of a specific population and discusses the manifestations and impact, causes and contributing factors, and responses to the problem/need, including analysis at the micro, mezzo, and macro levels. Students will utilize online databases to search for peer-reviewed articles, with a minimum of 5 peer-reviewed references. The paper will address five key areas:

Definition of the topic and description of the population of interest; discussion of what is known/hypothesized about the impact of the problem/need

Two major social theories (from course content) used to understand the causes and effects

Select one “US based” company that exports its products or has locations outside of the United States.  Research the company using internet sources.

DON’T pick the obvious companies, such as (Apple, Microsoft, Google, etc.)  Pick more obscure companies.  I don’t want to have 5 of the same companies….your grade will reflect this!
In your own words, write a brief summary of the company and its global marketing strategy using the terms from the chapter.  If you copy and paste the companies website information, you will NOT receive credit.

Reply to following discussion on(what you have learned in this class, how will you apply this class to your daily life and degree, and how would you improve this class.  Responses should be a minimum of 200 words and include direct questions.

1. his class really surprised and scared me.  The math was the scary part for sure, I knew we were going to have math but I was not prepared for the type of math.  Knowing that I am not really good at math and when seeing the first assignment I was freaked out.  But after getting through the first math assignment and with help from the professor it was not that bad.  The one topic that surprised me the most was visual impact and how much it was taken into account within the transportation field.  I knew that developers considered the surrounding area when starting new developments but I did not know how much consideration was taken.  When writing our group paper it was interesting to learn how architects considered all the visual impact of each little detail.  The one thing that I did not think would go well but which went great were our group projects.  This was the first time I had ever done group work online and I had no clue how it was going to go.  My group was just wonderful and we worked together really well which made the process so simple.  I do not have any complaints about the class it was interesting and challenging which made it perfect for me.  I do not think any changes need to be made. 
The prediction from the video I believe came true and still holds to this day is that the global imbalances would worsen.  There were an enormous amount of mistakes made that lead up to the global economic and financial crisis.  This crisis showed the world how really connected we all are as a world, and that if one country falters others could follow.  Global imbalances have had an important causal role not at the international level, in the form of currency recycling, but at the domestic level, in the form of credit recycling to the agents spending more than their income, who are the other end of the external deficit. The breakdown occurred in the credit recycling mechanism (Wade, 2009).  This is how the crisis was created and knowing that; we still continue to operate in the same manner.  Yes, new regulations and principles have been put in place but the root of the problem still lingers credit recycling within governments and the public sector continue to be a problem.

Program Proposal Presentation: Prepare a 7-minute presentation of the Program Proposal. Through a presentation to a local community group, each student will present the concept of their program proposal and will provide an executive summary that outlines a plan for executing the program concept.

The presentation must be in PowerPoint or Prezi (or similar presentation format) and include an overview of the idea and how it addresses building capacity within the community and meeting a need that is not addressed by other organizations. Slides should be submitted in the course site.
Theoretical Foundation of Program: Select a theory that would be the basis for the program and integrate core concepts of the theory into your explanation of the theoretical foundation of the program/agency. Explain the rationale for your selection and the relevance of the theory to practice. Another option is to show how you are using another existing program as a model for your program and the efficacy of that mode program.

Policy: Identify any policies within the organization that would affect implementing this program with the proposed group of clients such as an intake policy or policies based on regulations.
Funding: Discuss the potential funding needs and describe the sources of funding. Is there money in the current operating budget to fund the program or will you apply for grants from outside sources?

Marketing: Describe the specific strategies that you would use to market the new programboth internally and externally.

Program Evaluation: Describe your program evaluation plans. Include the rationale and specific plans for formative and summative evaluation such as specific measures you would use at the micro and macro levels (e.g., for micro: changes in clients behavior; for macro: how the agency will report outcome measures to the funding agency). Define what way your program evaluation plan is consistent with the mission, objectives, theory, and practice model of the agency. Further, include the rationale for the research methods (qualitative and/or quantitative measures), research tools (e.g., survey, interviews, video ethnography, etc.), research instruments, research design, specific data collection procedures, and data analysis plans.

The topics are either questions or statements, so you basically need to discuss the options available (yes, no or proposal 1, proposal 2 ), supported with evidence based on data, and/ or literature, practical examples are also welcome (countries, companies) and then propose a conclusion.

This is what I am going to look at for the grading.
