Read the article by Van Houten et al. (1988) available at http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/articlerender.fcgi?artid=1286137. Think about some difficult decisions that might need to be made when deciding what is best for someone else.  Use the article to guide a discussion of a controversial ethical dilemma, such as one of the following (or one of your own choosing): A consumer is engaging in dangerous self-injury. The only motivating reinforcer that has been found for him is ice cream, which is a typical dessert for the whole group home. The staff don’t want to withhold his ice cream on the days that he doesn’t earn it, and they don’t want to limit everyone else’s access to ice cream.

For this assignment, you choose (1) a specific subgroup of individuals with SPMI, and (2) a specific life milestone or other rehabilitation/recovery focus, (3) intersectionality. The goal of the assignment is to develop a well-reasoned intervention plan that reflects recovery principles and incorporates critical elements of social work practice.

8 pages not including the title page or reference page

Group:  Young adults with 1st onset SPMI (Serious and Persistent mental illness)
Focus:  Education, relationships & sexuality

Your written report will consist of a well-written synopsis, a reference list, and a will be shared with classmates. You are free to use readings that we have completed during the course, but you should plan to include additional scholarly resources that address the specifics of your topic (and the specific questions below).

Please use the following questions/sections to guide the development of your report:
1.    Help us to get to know the group you have chosen. Consider gender, age, socioeconomic status, ethnicity, lived or shared experiences, and/or other characteristics of relevance.
2.    What is your rationale for choosing the milestone or rehab/recovery issue that you did for this particular group? Consider things like developmental tasks and trajectories, community inclusion, experiences of oppression and discrimination, and other relevant rationales.
3.    Review the evidence regarding psychiatric rehabilitation and related interventions with this issue/group. Are there any that might be considered efficacious or promising? What questions and challenges remain? If research has not been conducted on your specific issue/group, what can be learned from the research on related populations?

4.    Propose an intervention to address this issue with your chosen group, incorporating responses to the following:
1.    Identify the primary outcomes you would address and the services or program elements you would include
2.    Develop a name and/or a logo for your program that captures its focus on recovery.
3.    Identify one specific skill that you might want to address in your program. Why would this skill be important? Provide a brief outline of the steps you would use to assist in the development of that skill.
4.    Identify any clinical or social justice concerns that might be of special importance (e.g. cultural responsiveness, the inclusion of families, the perpetuation of oppressive power relations, stigma). How might you address these?
5.    Finally, evaluate your proposed program in terms of ways it is consistent with recovery principles and systems and social work values. If it is not entirely consistent with these, discuss some of the contexts of challenges that might contribute to this.

Hello Professor and Classes,

This week’s discussion talks about technology in the workplace. The technology that I use at my workplace is a desktop computer and I also use my android cell phone. The doctors and the medical assistants in my office also use tables when seeing their patients.
Therefore the article that I am interested in talks about How Consumer Technology Is Remaking the Workplace. In this article, it talks about how people are using technology on their phones more because they feel comfortable.  “Now, instead of relying on IT-sanctioned desktop computers and centrally deployed software, youre much more likely to find people using their personal mobile devices to check work email, review company data, manage projects, and create content, often using apps that lie far outside the corporate firewall”.
What also stood out for me in the article was the fact that people use tables more.  It says ” Tablets have made huge inroads, too: 33 percent of companies say that most of their employees use tablets for basic work tasks. More remarkably, the same number says that most of their employees use tablets for advanced tasks such as customer relationship management (CRM), project management, content creation, and data analysisall of this less than three years after the introduction of the first iPad”.

Greetings:

This week we are focusing on narration which requires a ton of details, but not just any details. I absolutely love vivid details. As a writer, it is your responsibility to show me, not tell me the details. Let me repeat that one more time. It is your responsibility to SHOW ME, not tell me the details.

Here is an example, so you will better understand the task at hand.

Telling Me: I was really hungry, so I went and got a burger.

Showing Me: My stomach tossed and turned as it whispered, “L-A-Tonziaaaaaaaaaa, it is time to eat. I am dyinggggg.” Immediately, I ran across the room, and I opened the gate to heaven. I saw a lovely BLT awaiting me as the cool air from the fridge hit my toes.

Please note the following differences based on the two statements:

There are a lot more words when you complete the “Show Me” details. Word count matters.
You can picture what is happening in your mind as you read the “Show Me” details.
“Show Me” details are small moments filled with action and life.

Your assignment is simple. I need you to express yourself using your words. Now is the time to practice collecting details to strengthen your narrative, complete this activity. Study the photo below. Write one paragraph using specific, descriptive details about the photo. (In case you forgot, a paragraph is 5-8 complete sentences.) You can include conversation you think was going on or the emotions that were felt. You can add smells as well. I need you to literally bring the photo to life.

Below is the link to the image you will be describing. I look forward to the response on this assignment.

Locate a current (medical or scientific) news or journal article based on Alterations in Cerebral Hemodynamics.

As you read through the article, think about how it connects to Pathophysiology and why is it relevant.

2. Provide a write-up summarizing the article.  Within your document, include how the information connects to Pathophysiology, and why it is relevant.

3. Aim to include 150 – 200 words in the summary.

4. Remember to cite your source(s) in APA Format!

To attach to scholarship applications a “statement of educational goals and career objectives” is what specifically is being requested.  Please note I am an older student who has had many occupations including owning my own business, in my early years I was a CNA and have a long list of community volunteer help including my husband and I run my son’s Cub Scout pack. I genuinely care about people and want to help and so that will be applied in my career in Respiratory Care once I graduate. (I will be 52 when I graduate).  It actually says no more than 500 words. So maybe 300-400 (for quoting purposes)
