Interview someone who is from a different cultural, religious, or ethnic background than you and ask them about a tradition or ritual that is associated with death and bereavement. For example, you might ask a Jewish colleague to describe what happens after someone dies and through the first month after death. Or you might ask a friend from India to describe the funeral and bereavement customs in their country of origin. Write a brief paper on your interview (at least 2 pages), including significant facts that you learned, elaborate on assumptions, and/or similarities and differences between your customs and theirs.

Interview one person (via google meet, zoom, FaceTime, Skype, etc.) who has experienced a recent loss (less than 1 year). Ask them how did they cope emotionally and practically (remember Wordens four tasks and relate them to the active and passive ways of coping). Some questions you might ask include: Did anyone or anything (ex. Religion or spirituality) help you cope with this loss? What did they do that was helpful? How did this give you comfort? Record this interview submission, with the interviewee’s permission. Write up your experience aboutthe interview in at least a two page reflection paper

Describe the communication technique called motivational interviewing and discuss why motivational interviewing is a technique commonly used by case managers and those in health care professions.  Reflect on one of the clients in the virtual experience and describe how/why that client could benefit from motivational interviewing techniques used by the community/public health nurse.  And finally, give an example of how you as a Registered Nurse could incorporate motivational interviewing into your practice.  Use at least two professional references in addition to your textbook.

Compare the Res Gestae Divi Augusti to the Lives of the Twelve Caesars (source 6.3). How is the power of the emperors portrayed? Are there significant differences from Augustus to Caligula or Claudius?
Compare and contrast the lives of St. Benedict and Muhammad. What similarities and differences are there in Gregory and Ibn Ishaq’s depictions of these figures? How do these accounts reflect the values of their respective religions (Christianity and Islam)?
How do Peter of Blois, in his letter to Eleanor, and Heloise in her own letter to Abelard, describe the relationships between men and women, especially married women? What characteristics seem to be expected about female behavior?
Comparing the Wife of Bath to the Trail of Joan of Arc, in what ways did women challenge gender expectations of the later medieval period?

Identify the argument in Anna Quindlen’s Newsweek essay, “We’ve Been Here Before,” and assess the quality of that argument. What kind of argument is Quindlen making? What are the potential problems with this kind of argument? Does she prove it? What is the quality of her evidence?
Identify examples of fallacies in Quindlen’s essay. Quote examples and explain how they fit the definitions of specific fallacies. Also, use the Stoker essay as a counter-point to Quindlen’s argument. What could Quindlen learn from Stoker? Remember, you are not debating the war in Iraq, or the successes or failures of the Bush presidency. This is an analysis of Quindlen’s argument. The fine print: The paper is to be 3 – 4 pages in length. It is to have a works cited page – even on the first draft. All drafts are typed, double-spaced, and in a 12pt. Times Roman font and in MLA Format.
