1. I am interviewing a woman, May Snyder, who is from Japan. Before I interview her, I have to write this essay about Japanese Culture. You may use any type of resources to help write this essay.

What does research tell you about your interviewees culture? Are they from a collectivist or an individualistic culture? What challenges do persons from this culture face? What advantages do they have as a result of their culture? What are the presumed values of the culture? Find out as much as you can about your interviewees culture and write about it in Step 2. Your paper should be 2-4 pages of text (not including title page and reference page).  It should be APA format with a title page and a reference page.  No abstract needed. Please submit your paper in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx).

In this project, students will write an essay that discusses some cultural, political, and identity (mainly issues) in relation to South Asian Cultures. The topic areas are not limited to within any specific subjects; meaning, students can choose any topic/s and their essay/s can address  any topic area that is related to South Asian culture. For instance, South Asian culture, identity (gender, ethnic, and Indigenous identities, etc.), visual art, and popular music, etc. In this project, students are required to use some reading materials from this course as sources to draw some theories, philosophies, practices, and cultural issues as evidence.

When students write this paper, they will focus on the following elements:
1.    What is the purpose of the essay?
2.    Who are the targeted audience/readers? To be more specific, students writing style depends upon their audience.
3.    Who is the writer? Meaning, the writers situated (cultural or geo-political) identity–say where you (students) are from and what you know about the subject/topic)
4.    What is the subject or issue? How do you (student/s) want to address it?
5.    What is the context?
6.    What is the situation?

This week, you will use role theory to apply to your chosen case study. In other words, your theoretical orientationor lensis role theory as you analyze the case study.

Use the same case study that you chose in Week 2. (Remember, you will be using this same case study throughout the entire course). Use the Dissecting a Theory and Its Application to a Case Study worksheet to help you dissect the theory. You do not need to submit this handout. It is a tool for you to use to dissect the theory, and then you can employ the information in the table to complete your assignment.

To prepare:

Review and focus on the same case study that you used in Week 2.
Review the websites and guides for developing PowerPoint skills found in the Learning Resources

Submit a narrated PowerPoint presentation should includes 11 to 12 slides.

Each slide should be written using bullet points, meaning no long paragraphs of written text should be in the slides.
The recorded audio takes the place of any written paragraphs, while the bullet points provide context and cues for the audience to follow along).
Your presentation should address the following:

1. Identify the presenting problem for the case study you selected. (Remember the presenting problem has to be framed from the perspective of role theory. For example, the presenting problem can be framed within the context of role functioning).
2. Identify all the relevant roles assumed by the client.
3. Analyze the social expectations and social and cultural norms revolving around the role, social position, and role scripts of one of the roles assumed by the client.
4. Explain the role and social position of the social worker in working with the client in the case study.
5. Describe how the role(s) and social position(s) assumed by the social worker will influence the relationship between the social worker and the client.
6. Identify three assessment questions that are guided by role theory that you will ask the client to better understand the problem.
7. Identify and describe two interventions that are aligned with the presenting problem and role theory.
8. Identify one outcome that you would measure if you were to evaluate one of the interventions you would implement to determine if the intervention is effective.
9. Evaluate one advantage and one limitation in using role theory in understanding the case.

Be sure to:

Identify and correctly reference the case study you have chosen.
Use literature to support your claims.
Use APA formatting and style.
Include the reference list on the last slide.

(Chapter 9)

There are major differences between U.S. privacy laws and those in the EU. After reading the information presented in this chapter and other sources, identify five differences.

List three U.S. companies that have been sued by the EU for not following their privacy laws.
For each company, summarize the case (support your claim with a reference to an article) and list one violation.
Respond to at least two of your peers. Make sure to include your references list at the end of your initial post content.

Need a refresher? Review APA style format, in-text citation.

Be sure to organize the essay clearly. Essays such as this should be divided into at least three separate paragraphs (an introduction with a thesis statement, at least one body paragraph, and a conclusion). Do not turn in an essay made up of one long paragraph. Make sure that your essay is double-spaced and formatted as a Microsoft Word (or compatible word processing program) document or it will not be graded.

SUMMARY OF THE WORK

There are 2 parts to the work over the weekend:
1. Reading responses (2) due September 9, at the beginning of class.
a. The reading responses will include three questions for the class about each
reading (6 questions total). We will use these questions to explore the
issues raised by the readings. {HOW SHOULD WE DOCUMENT/COLLECT?}
2. Two images, one for each reading, which raise a theoretical concern related to the
readings. One image should relate to the first reading. One image should relate to
the second reading by Harris. We will use these images to raise questions for our work
in relation to the readings. {HOW SHOULD WE DOCUMENT/COLLECT?}
a. Prepare an approximately 200 word reading response for these readings:

1. Define the big idea or central claim or claims
2. Summarize the important points or evidence the writer uses to
support those claims
3. Draw comparisons to other readings in your topic or similar
things you have read
4. Speculate on how this reading might influence an architectural
project.
5. List three questions related to the reading you want to pose
for discussion in class. We will use your questions to organize
our discussion.
a. Try to develop three different types of questions.
Such as:
i. A question about a fact or term you dont
understand or is unclear in the text.
ii. A question about a passage you dont
understand.
iii. A question that critiques or comments on a
problem or issue with the writers ideas or
work.
iv. Tips for compressing your reading notes 200 words:
1. Try to write one sentence for each point above (big idea,
important evidence, comparisons, influence); often that will
get you to 200 words.
2. Concision is a form of analysis and synthesis

Discussion Board

This modules discussion board assignment requires two threads:

Thread one: In your first thread identify the predominant leadership style, as described in the Borkowski text, where you work (transactional, transformational, servant, or collaborative). Describe the positive and negative outcomes that result from that leadership style.
Thread two:  Maccoby, in Chapter 9, discusses theories both learned and personally developed, and theories that are descriptive (categorical) and normative (predictive). He discusses the concept of single- and double-loop learning. In this thread explain how you relate the styles described in Borkowski, with single- and double-loop learning as described by Maccoby. (note: there is not one correct understanding of how leadership style and single- and double- loop learning relate in this thread explain how you think they relate.
