Literature Review: The Use of Clinical Systems to Improve Outcomes and Efficiencies

New technologyand the application of existing technologyonly appears in healthcare settings after careful and significant research. The stakes are high, and new clinical systems need to offer evidence of positive impact on outcomes or efficiencies.
Nurse informaticists and healthcare leaders formulate clinical system strategies. As these strategies are often based on technology trends, informaticists and others have then benefited from consulting existing research to inform their thinking.
In this Assignment, you will review existing research focused on the application of clinical systems. After reviewing, you will summarize your findings.

To Prepare:
Review the Resources and reflect on the impact of clinical systems on outcomes and efficiencies within the context of nursing practice and healthcare delivery.
Conduct a search for recent (within the last 5 years) research focused on the application of clinical systems. The research should provide evidence to support the use of one type of clinical system to improve outcomes and/or efficiencies, such as the use of personal health records or portals to support patients newly diagnosed with diabetes.
Identify and select 4 peer-reviewed research articles from your research.

The Assignment: (2-3 pages)

In a 2-3 page paper, synthesize the peer-reviewed research you reviewed. Format your Assignment as an Annotated Bibliography. Be sure to address the following:
Identify the 4 peer-reviewed research articles you reviewed, citing each in APA format.
Summarize each study, explaining the improvement to outcomes, efficiencies, and lessons learned from the application of the clinical system each peer-reviewed article described. Be specific and provide examples.
In your conclusion, synthesize the findings from the 4 peer-reviewed research articles

Reminder: The College of Nursing requires that all papers submitted include a title page, introduction, summary, and references. The sample paper provided at the Walden Writing Center provides an example of those required elements (available at https://academicguides.waldenu.edu/writingcenter/templates). All papers submitted must use this formatting.

Remove these points I’d encourage you to take out details about career – salary, passion, anything about the individual career.  Salary and the requirements of the dental hygiene degree, even the description of the major, you can take those out.

I emphasized Argument in a similar way but now, I’d like you to think of this assignment as being important information delivered to someone who needs to know it, with argumentative elements.

Add these points:  focus more on how to help support patients. we don’t know is the advancements made, the various lengths dentists go to now to get patients in the chair. I’m seeing the fear that many people have about going to the dentist being focused on here.
Write an MLA-formatted report. No cover page, 3-4 pages of text, 1 Work Cited page with at least 4 sources (so 1 actual page but if you need 2 Works Cited pages, thats fine).

Public Health Issue I have chosen: Negative effects of excessive screen time among children and teens. I chose city Seattle, Washington.

Community Action Plan Outline
For this option, you will submit a detailed two-page outline (in outline format, not in essay format) of the final paper for your chosen public health issue and community action plan. This is helpful as it will allow your instructor to give you specific feedback as you bring your ideas for your final Portfolio Project together.

For the detailed outline:

In the introduction, briefly describe the public health issue and the community you will use for your Portfolio. Include the community’s history and be sure to cite supporting sources.
Include the following sections for your selected issue:
Symptoms
Diagnosis
Cure
Prevention
In the Symptoms section, describe the public health issue that you have observed in your community. What “symptoms” does it exhibit? Think about whom it affects, where it affects them, and how (Refer back to Module 5, CT 1).
In the Diagnosis section, discuss the causes of the issue and give examples of other communities that have suffered the same problem. How did those communities solve or attempt to address the issue?
In the Cure section, discuss possible options for a cure for this public health issue. How can you eradicate it or reduce its occurrence in your community?
In the Prevention section, discuss possible options for prevention of the public health issue that you have selected. How can you reduce the chance of people being impacted by your issue in the future?
    3. The detailed outline should be approximately two pages in length, in outline format not in paragraph format.

Your full sentence outline should be 2-3 pages in length, not counting the title page and reference page which you must include. Your outline should include a minimum of 3 scholarly references.

Your purpose will be to critique the strengths and weaknesses of the articles writing. Here you will look not only at what the article provides in terms of facts, data, and viewpoint, but also in terms of what makes a credible and persuasive article.

When I have read your paper, I should be able to see that you have read the article carefully, but I should not be able to tell what your own opinion of the topic (of reading) itself is until the last paragraph (if at all).

Expected length and format:  Essays should run approximately 600 words; the final draft must be typed in 12 point font Times New Roman and be double-spaced with one inch margins on all sides. Use MLA headers.

Features of article critique include:

a clear thesis with the overall strengths and/or weaknesses of the articles writing
specific references to the article you are writing about (This means directly quoting important sentences or paraphrasing particular sections, but not mere summary.)
make sure you stay focused on critique/evaluation/analysis and do not just summarize the article
evaluation should be about how well the author does/does not advance the articles claim (your essay should not be about the topic of the article)

Use this writing prompt as a space to discuss what stood out to you in this week’s readings. What did you find useful? What did you find intuitive? Why do Lamott and the author’s of They Say I Say both talk about writing as a process and not a product?

Or, use this prompt as a space to discuss your own writing process. How do you begin writing? How many drafts do you proceed through? How might you improve your writing process?

SLP Assignment Overview
Groups and Teams at Work

A 2014 study by Judge and Papata found that all personality traits are more predictive of job performance when the work was performed in an unstructured environment where employees have the freedom to make personal choices. In addition, the study found that the employees’ traits also indicated how they would act in a situation because of those same traits.

You took a test about your own personality traits for the Case Assignment in Module 1. Did you find that the results were what you expected? Most people find that they are generally correct, but they all have a surprise or two. Did you know that if you were to wait an hour and retake the test that your results would be different? This is because as you read your first test results, you rationalize why the findings were correct or incorrect and then you try to change up your answers in an attempt to change your results. If you were to take the test after a much longer period of time after taking it the first time, your results may also be different. This is because your frame of mind when taking a test also impacts the answers you select.

To combat people changing their answers to get a better result, test designers reframe questions in several ways, inserting multiple ways to ask the same question. Some test-takers are bothered by the repetition of questions, most likely because they do not realize it is done intentionally. If they were to list all of the repeat questions, though, they would find that each is written differently from the others.

SLP Assignment
In the Module 1 Case, you were required to take a personality exam, such as the one recommended by PsychCentral because of its similarity to the Myers-Briggs (MBTI). The results may have been very close to what you think are your personality characteristics, although some of them may have been a surprise to you. Keeping those personality characteristics in mind and after reading the descriptions of all of the characteristic categories, think about how these characteristics affect your own work attitudes and job performance.

For this SLP assignment, address the following questions related to topics covered in this Module in a 2- to 3-page paper, not counting the cover and reference list pages. Note that when the assignment calls for a submission of 2-3 pages, this means the professor is hoping for three pages, but is willing to accept two as long as those are two full pages.

What are your personality characteristics? In what ways do they affect your attitudes at work?
How does your work attitude affect your job performance and behaviors?
Then, meet with your manager or a coworker who knows you well, and discuss your findings in your personality test. Discuss how they see you compared to your test results. In the final submission, include a paragraph of at least 75 words covering the highlights of your discussion with that person.

(If you are not currently working, you can select a family member, friend, or someone else who knows you well to complete this part of the assignment.)

Support your responses to the questions in this 2- to 3-page assignment with at least one high-quality reference from the (University) Online Library. High-quality references come from peer-reviewed academic journals and text books. All references must be properly cited and included on the References page
