Week 6: Group Discussion Board Topic: Integration of Mixed Company textbook assigned reading, websites, and articles readings and exercises. Discuss the 3 most important concepts you have learned.

Groupthink

Access and read The New Yorker article, “Groupthink: The brainstorming myth”. https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2012/01/30/groupthink (Links to an external site.)

Then access and read, the Inc. article, “10 Longtime Brainstorming Techniques That Still Work”.

https://www.inc.com/john-boitnott/10-longtime-brainstorming-techniques-that-still-work.html (Links to an external site.)

Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of group work. Identify and describe a work situation that may be better suited from individual work versus group work and vice-versa. Identify four of the ten classic brainstorming approaches outlined in the Inc. article that you have experienced first-hand or observed.  Were they successful or not?  Why, or why not?    Remember, there is no best brainstorming technique. It’s all about finding what works best for you, taking into account learning styles, preferences, and any props available. The next time you’re stumped about a decision or can’t move forward, which of these traditional approaches would you be tempted to try?  Explain.

APA format. Must be 5 pages (excluding title page and references) So it needs to be 5 pages of topic content. Use critical thinking, intuitive perceptions and creativity. More instructions are attached. Please read CAREFULLY.
Topic: Talk about medication errors and nurses practicing unsafely in the hospital settings. Use five professional, researched-based references in APA format.
You can also talk about other ways nurses practice unsafely in the hospitals. (MALPRACTICE)

Prompt:

True Christianity carried out to its fullest measure is not groupthink at all. It rejects conformity of the mind and thinking, which is dominated by majority rule or peer pressure. God made us as unique individuals with unique perspectives, and never intended for us to give up our individuality for the acceptance of a group.

The Bible says,

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:2, NIV)

Rachel Miller, of Savvy Sheep, breaks it down. (1) If we disobey God, we are conforming to the rebellious mindset of the unbelieving world. (2) Worse still, conformity with the world prevents us from knowing God’s plan for our lives. (3) If God is not part of the plan, Scripture promises us that the plan will fail. (4) Without God’s instruction (the “renewing of the mind”), we can only succumb to Groupthink. http://www.savvysheep.com/2009/03/dont-conform-to-pattern-of-world.html (Links to an external site.)

Why is information overload such a problem when we have labor-saving technologies such as personal computers to process huge quantities of data? Why are collective inferential errors more likely when issues are emotionally-charged?

Why, do you suppose, the Bible is the best solution for the problem of Groupthink? How can it help individuals cope with information overload? And, help individuals filter, sort, and test worldly information? Why is the church is in the best position to carry out this solution?

gain, in this Module, you will find several websites to review. Please do so. After reviewing ALL the links, please comment on the following issues:

— FGM and Psychological Repercussions

— Cultural Differences and FGM

— Human Rights and FGM

Write a no less than 6 page (including Title page and Reference page) paper reacting to the information presented on the websites, utilizing the discussion items above. Some websites posted should be used.  Plus, YOU MUST do additional research outside of what is posted on Blackboard to support your paper.

Use proper writing techniques (APA format only). There is the Purdue Owl link in this Module and under Learning Materials that discusses various writing formats. DO NOT use an abstract nor the author’s note.  This is not a research design paper presented on Purdue Owl but a research paper.  The format is a bit different.  If you have any concerns on formatting, I STRONGLY SUGGEST using the Tutoring and Learning Center at TRC as they can help with proofreading and formatting your paper email me with your questions.

Remember, this is a small paper but it should be written in proper APA writing format, including the basics: title page; headings; the body should reflect an intro, body, and conclusion; reference page, double spacing.  I expect to see information from the required websites utilized. This paper should be written in APA, 7th edition, format.  Again, use the Purdue Owl link for APA writing format and the TLC at TRC.

The total points for this paper will be 100 points.  It is the same as an exam.  I do grade following the Social Science Rubric.  I expect that each student does his/her best on this assignment, just as one with with an exam.  Following directions is also considered when grading.

The paper will be graded on the following areas:

Knowledge and Content
Communication
Analysis, Interpretation, and Application
The Diversity of the Human Condition

Instructions
After selecting a historical topic to research further, the next step in the research process is to create a research plan that compiles primary and secondary sources.

First, applying what you just learned about narrowing research questions, revise your research questions from your Topic Exploration Worksheet.

Explain how you approached revising your research questions to assist your instructor in understanding your approach. This will help you draft an introduction to a hypothetical research paper with a strong thesis statement.

Finally, applying what you have learned about comparing primary sources and analyzing secondary sources, do a deeper dive into the primary sources you listed in Part 3 of your Topic Exploration Worksheet to help you start your research plan. Describe what these sources add to your understanding of your selected topic.

The feedback you receive from this assignment should be implemented as you work towards your Research Plan and Introduction for Project 3.

To complete this assignment, complete the Research Plan Preparation Worksheet Word.

For more information, see the Research Plan Preparation Guidelines and Rubric PDF document.
