Discuss the contrasting themes of courage and cowardice in Pushkins The Shot.

Essay should be around three to four pages in 12-point font, double-spaced (not including the bibliography).
Your essay should have a title that reflects not only your topic but your argument about that topic; an introductory paragraph that introduces your topic, suggests how it will be approached in regards to the text, and closes with a clear and specific thesis statement; supporting paragraphs organized around points that support your thesis and that open with a strong topic sentence; specific evidence from the primary text itself; a sense of sound and logical transition from supporting point to supporting point; and a strong conclusion that reinforces your thesis and suggests something about its wider implications.
Be specific, be organized, and be sure to make good use of the text when making your case.  When it comes to quoting from the text, be sure to comment on the quotes you use and incorporate them into your larger argument.

Essay 2 Topic: Choose to write about either Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare OR Doctor Faustus by Christopher Marlowe.
The Unit 2 essay must follow classic essay structure: the introduction with thesis, the body, and the conclusion. The thesis must make an arguable claim about the meaning of the text you’ve chosen to write about (or some major aspect of that text). The thesis may not be focused on the author or the author’s life. You must analyze and interpret the text on the page. The body of the essay must support the thesis by using information and examples from the assigned readings and must include additional, documented information from at least three credible sources from the library databases. Your textbook may count as only one source, regardless of the number of literary works that you cite from it. You are required to obtain at least three sources from the librarys databases, such as the Literature Resource Center and the History Study Center. Wikipedia, Shmoop, eNotes, Spark Notes, and other such sites are not credible sources for academic writing, and if you use them, they will not count towards the requirements for this assignment.

All paraphrases, summaries, and quotations from your sources, including your textbook, must be documented in strict accordance with MLA eighth-edition standards.  The documentation must include attributive phrases and/or in-text citations and a works-cited page. You may refer to the “Resources” area of our blackboard page for guidance on citations and formatting.

To eliminate plagiarism, you are required to submit your essay to obtain the Safe Assign Originality Report. In the Originality Report, do not be concerned if sources are highlighted.  This highlighting merely indicates that other students have located the same credible sources as you have located. Also, do not be concerned if quoted material is highlighted. You must be certain, however, that you have enclosed quoted material in quotation marks and have provided corresponding attributive phrases and/or in-text citations. If paraphrases or other material that is not from a source and is not a quotation is highlighted, this highlighting indicates that the percentage of similarity is too high, and may be cause for concern.

To be graded and to receive credit, your essay must be submitted as a PDF (.pdf) or Microsoft Word document (.doc or .docx) to the correct link. Email submissions will not be accepted.

The works assigned in this module explore topics related to families, such as:

father/son relationships
physical abuse
a childs need for parental approval
the role of mothers
heritage
Respond to one of the following prompts:

Option 1:

Select one or two works from this module and write an essay that explains how the author develops a theme about a family-related topic. You may choose from the list above or another topic that interests you, but the subject must relate to families.

You might, for example, select a text that contain images of physical abuse; however, your essay will do more than explain the presence of these images. Instead, your goal is to explain what the author is saying about physical abuse in a family; point to specific elements of fiction, such as the connotations of the words, tone of the work, setting, characters, etc. to show how he or she develops this theme in the work.

Your essay must use information from at least one secondary source from the library’s databases (preferably Literature Resource Center) to develop the analysis and support the thesis.

Option 2:

Write an essay in which you examine a specific problem faced by families (or individual family members – sons, for example) and present an argument about how to approach, solve, or prevent this issue. You may choose from the list above or you may choose something else that interests you, but the subject must relate to families.

The essay must use information from at least two scholarly sources to develop the subject and support your argument. Use at least one article from the librarys databases by entering your search terms in the search bar on the librarys website; narrow the results to articles published in the last 10 years. The other source may come from a scholarly internet source, a TED Talk, or a podcast.

Use one work of literature in the introduction to provide context for the subject. Your essay might, for example, advocate for more education for mothers by presenting research on how a womans feelings about her pregnancy affect the childs development. Your introduction could use Plaths poem to introduce this subject, the body of the essay must explain the issue as it occurs in today’s world with support from the two scholarly sources.

Requirements:

Write an essay of at least 800 words in response to one of the above prompts. This includes the first word of the essay to the last word of the essay; the essay title, heading, and Works Cited page are not included in the word count.
Follow the MLA Format instructions from Module 0.
Use information from at least two sources as indicated above.
Use in-text, parenthetical citations in MLA format each time you paraphrase, summarize, or quote directly from a source.
Include a corresponding MLA-formatted Works Cited page.
Use third-person academic voice for all essays in this course. Do NOT use first person (I, me, my, us, our, we) or second person (you, your).
Use the literary present tense (say “the author writes about her life” not “the author wrote about her life”).
Save and submit your work as either Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) or a Rich Text Document (.rtf).
The Originality Report generated by Turn It In must not exceed 25%. Submit work early to review the report and contact your instructor with questions.
Essays that do not meet the requirements of the assignment will not receive a passing grade.

I am an ethical leader

Overview and Rationale

Writing a journal provides you with an opportunity to critically assess your leadership capability through introspection and self-analysis it makes you aware of who you are as both an individual and a leader.  This assignment serves as a reflective exercise and a self-assessment to help you learn more about yourself, as an ethical leader. It will also serve as your mid-term project.

Assignment Objectives

Students will be able to connect personal experiences with the information learned to date, citing course readings, lectures, and discussions.
Students will be able to analyze their personal progress as ethical leaders by reflecting on the content and activities learned during the first half of the course.
Students will have an opportunity to recognize obstacles and strengths to their own development as ethical leaders, and to identify solutions or plans on how to overcome those obstacles or develop those strengths.

This assignment focuses on your personal level of ethical leadership. You will work on understanding, analyzing and implementing choices related to ethics-related situations. In doing this, you are expected to demonstrate an understanding of the theoretical foundations of ethical thoughts when you reflect on your personal challenges, apply course frameworks in analyzing your choices and dilemmas, and move to the level of defining a direction for personal growth as an ethical leader.  Using lecture materials, readings, and the various discussions you have had with classmates and the instructor, you will incorporate leadership theories to create an ethical leadership model and definition.

Essential Components

Using the prompt provided below, provide a clear, concise, and well written journal that will be reflective in nature and effectively showcase your thoughts and perspectives on ethical leadership.  It comes from an article titled, The Ethical Mind: A Conversation with Psychologist Howard Gardner (the article is included in this week’s readings).  Gardner argues that:

A person with an ethical mind asks herself, What kind of a person, worker, and citizen do I want to be? If all workers in my profession adopted the mind-set I have, or if everyone did what I do, what would the world be like? Whistle-blowers display ethical minds. Many people might see a top manager doing something unethical, but they wont do anything about it because they want to keep their jobs, and they feel that they must respect the boss. A whistle-blower steps back from those concerns and considers the nature of work and the community in a larger way. He takes a mental leap past daily doings; his allegiance is to the workplace or the profession. He acts ethically even though it may cost him his respectful relation to his supervisor and, ultimately, his job and relation to his colleagues. He is able to do this because his own momentary well-being is less important than the broader mission he has endorsed.

Consider the following when writing your journal:

Do you have an ethical mind?  If so, explain your thoughts and provide one or more specific examples.  If not, how would you define your ethical thinking?
How have our readings or discussions, during the first half of this course, changed or reinforced the opinions you previously held about yourself as an ethical leader?
What connections can you make between your ethical thinking and your personal and professional leadership style?
What leadership models do you value and identify with and how do they support an ethical mindset (i.e. transformational, participative, authentic, servant, etc.)?
What strengths do you have that will help facilitate your development as an ethical leader?
How do you model ethical leadership in your personal and professional life?

Chapter II is missing 4 pages. Incorporate more literature review and expertise on method and design conducted in prior studies use Cheney’s method & design located throughout the study. Take the ones used already throughout the paper and make it all flow together. Make sure topics and subtopics flow together. Paper needs to be no less than 30 pages not including references. See below recommended edits from DBA chair and make corrections. There is already a total of 27 pages add 4 more on Cheney’s method & design. Please highlight all additions and changes made.

Chapter 2  is also missing the expertise on method and design conducted in prior studies (there is some throughout, but the flow makes it hard to pick which references to add to a Method and Design Literature section). There are still APA heading and citation concerns throughout, which will not prevent defense. See attachments for guidance.
