a. What was the goal of the research study (i.e., the research hypothesis–there may be more than one). The places to look for the goal of the student may be the abstraction, the end of the literature review, and/or the methods section of the paper.

b. How did the author(s) conduct the study (look at the methods section of the research article). What was the sample, what type of sampling design was used, what type of research design was used, what were the procedures for the study (how was the study conducted)?

c. What were the MAJOR findings of the study as they relate to the stated hypothesis (there may be more than one) being tested. You may find this information in the discussion/conclusion section of the article.

Suppose that you are a psychologist who studies motivation.  You are working with a nutritionist whose goal it is to design an informational flyer appropriate for a middle school lunchroom.  Your common goal is to motivate children to make healthier food choices.  Design a flyer (you will not write an essay for this assignment) that includes information from psychological theories or literature to encourage middle school children to eat healthier.  Be specific.  You must cite a source from your textbook and at least 2 other academic sources (a separate Reference Page should be submitted with your flyer). Creativity is encouraged!
Remember- YOUR flyer must include information from psychological theories or literature! The Food Pyramid or MyPlate food recommendations should NOT be the main focus of your flyer.  Your flyer should address the psychological motivators that lead to overeating and obesity and provide recommendations for middle-school aged children about how to overcome and/or avoid them.

While still in Vevey, Winterbourne knows that approaching and talking to Daisy in public would not be acceptable in Geneva. However, he allows it to happen. He also transgresses social codes by inviting her to see the castle with him. Winterbourne is very critical of Daisy’s behavior.

(600 words). In rhetoric, an ekphrasis is traditionally an elaborate visual description, meant to use words to bring a vivid image for an audience to picture and behold. For your ekphrasis, I will allow expansion of this visual tradition into the five senses: vision, hearing, smell, taste, touch. Using Anthony Bourdains Kitchen Confidential (Food is Good excerpt, under files) and How to Survive a Plague as models, consider applying one or more of the five senses to a particular item or text. By item, I mean a print text, image, setting, artifact, or pattern of your choice (this can include digital media as well). It will help, for this short assignment, to stay focused in a particular direction, item, and sense or two. Be as descriptive and detailed as possible. For this stage, do not yet attempt an analysis; here, you are representing through words a particular sensation and observation of a specific element.
