Antibiotic resistance

Policy Brief – Two Countries

Research Paper (Policy Brief Format)

Congratulations!  You have been appointed by the President as the new United States Ambassador to the United Nations.  As part of your duties, you have been asked to write a policy brief that relative merits of two countries that have been nominated to fill a seat on the United Nations Human Rights Council and specifying which of the two you believe is the best choice for the position.

Choose one of the five regions listed at the United Nations statistical website.  Once you’ve selected your region, choose two countries other than the United States. Some regions will have more than two candidates and some regions have more seats than nominees.  For the purposes of this assignment, however, you are to assume that the two nations you select are competing for a single opening in their region.

Papers should include 6-8 pages of content (1750-2500 words).  The title, executive summary, and reference pages do not count toward that total. 

Papers should be double-spaced, with standard 1-inch margins and a standard 12 point font and there should be no additional spacing between paragraphs.  Avoid excessive subheadings.

1-SWOT Analysis

Here you should provide a matrix showing the SWOT elements of your company.  Remember, Strengths and Weaknesses are internal and currently possessed by the company.  Threats and opportunities are external to the company.  Please be specific and do not say “competition” is a threat.  This is always a threat and therefore, too general.  Instead, indicate which companies and products represent threats along with any other threats to the industry.  If you need to research the library for threats in one of the sensor segments, please do so.

2- Porter’s Five Forces Analysis

To complete this section, if you need to supplement your data with actual research on one of the sensor markets in the library, please do so.  You should end your analysis of each of the Five Forces with a statement about whether the force is weak, moderate or strong.  Then, make an overall, overall statement about how attractive the industry is as a whole based on the strengths of the individual forces.

Based on the SWOT Analysis and Porter’s Five Forces describe any strategic recommendations you would make for your company over the next five years.
