Use the issues you glean regarding the case analysis and reply to the post with a critique.
Write a 300 word critique of the analysis in Word (or equivalent). Apply the usual APA formatting for titles, headings, and any references you may use.

Ask questions and make observations about the case methodology, type of data and sources used, and manner in which he or she approached the analysis.

Your essay should include several MLA-formatted, parenthetically-cited quotations from Educated. Use your judgment to choose and reflect upon a number of quotations that will help you support your thesis. Your primary task is to analyze the memoir Educated, but you must also include at least one quotation from a secondary source. A secondary source might be an article or any related resource mentioned in class or located on our class’ web page. You might include a statistic from the Library database Statista or define a term from one of the specialized encyclopedias in Gale eBooks. Be sure to cite any secondary source(s) in MLA format.

1) A brief summary of the assigned materials. What are the most important points in the text or film? What is the authors main argument?
2) Discussion of one key aspect of the text(s) or film(s). Pick out one thing that stuck out to you as you were reading and discuss it. How does it relate to what we have been discussing in class? Does it highlight a different point of view or reiterate things we have already discussed? Do you agree or disagree with it (this should be an informed analysis based on course readings, not your personal opinion)? Does this text speak to any other texts we have discussed? This should comprise the bulk of your paper. Remember: analysis, not a book report.
3) Two or three discussion questions that arise from the text. Do not ask for explanations of things you could easily look up. Discussion questions should make you think critically and analytically about the course material. These questions can
and often should be longer than a single sentence.

The paper should discuss the following above.

examining previous writing assignments

This discussion topic is designed to give you the opportunity to peruse the assignments that a previous student in WRTG 394 wrote as she successfully completed the class.

This task will allow you to begin thinking about and planning for your WRTG 394 research writing assignments, the Synthesis Literature Review, the Research Proposal Memo, and the Research-Based Report.

NOTE: This is not your first writing assignment. This is a discussion topic designed to help you begin thinking about the three research-related writing assignments in WRTG 394.

In the Content area of the 394 classroom under the heading Sample Papers, open the “Wellness Program” and you will find the following:

sample synthesis literature review (WA #2)
sample research proposal memo (WA #3)
sample research-based report (WA#4)
Note that the student used the same topic for all three of these assignments. NOTE ALSO: the student cited sources and created the reference pages using APA 6th Edition.

Please use these sample papers to help you answer the following questions:

1. Peruse the sample Synthesis Lit Review (WA#2). This assignment calls for the student writer to use scholarly (academic) and professional (trade) sources. Does the student do this successfully? Name one example of each type of source used in this sample student-written assignment.

2. Examine the sample Research Proposal Memo (WA#3). Has the writer identified a problem and suggested possible solutions? What has the writer asked permission to do? What kind of primary research has the writer proposed to do?

3. Take a look at the sample Research Report (WA#4). Has the writer followed through on conducting and using the primary research proposed in the memo in the report? How has the writer presented the research?

(Due to the Corona virus pandemic you may not be able to do primary research for your later writing assignments, the proposal memo and research report; however, it’s important that you know how and why this research is used in business reports.)

4.  One final task. Look at the secondary research sources used in the Synthesis Lit Review and the Research Report.  Writing on the same topic for WA#2 and WA#4 made the writing of the research report an easier task than it would have been if different topics had been chosen.  Comment on how the writing on the same topic for both these assignments helped the writer.

Diversity in Aviation

During WWII, women turned out in record numbers to work in factories manufacturing aircraft, fly aircraft, and perform countless other aviation-related jobs. Women Fill Men’s Factory Jobs During World War II. After WWII, women stayed in the workforce, but not many chose to remain in aviation careers. Even today, the numbers are dismal regarding women and minorities working in aviation/aerospace positions. What happened to Rosie?

For this assignment, conduct research on the lack of diversity in the aviation and aerospace workforce. Then formulate a short paper of 3-5 pages stating your opinion as to why so few women and minorities enter or stay in the aviation and aerospace workforce today. Briefly reflect on methods to change this dynamic in the aviation and aerospace workforce. Remember to support your opinions with facts gathered from primarily scholarly sources.

The Health Gap: The Challenge of an Unequal World

This is not just a summary of the article or chapter, but a critical review of the reading. A good critical review will have a summary component (about 1/3rd of a page) that draws out the main thesis of the article or chapter, the evaluation of the article for strengths and weaknesses (About 1/3rd of a page), general impression or recommendations of the article, and two key questions raised. The review should take the length of a page. A critical review does not mean providing only a negative critique of the book chapter or article. It requires a reflection and the ability to develop an appropriate evaluation based on what others have written, understanding of current global health issues, and whether you agree with the author or not.
