Write an argumentation essay responding to the following statement:
The promotion of simple forms of positive psychology can potentially be detrimental to
peoples wellbeing.
Organize your essay content according to either of the two patterns discussed in this
class (ppt slides can be found on Bb).
Develop your argument with evidence from the readings discussed in this class and from
credible scholarly sources.
End your essay with a conclusion that states a solution, suggests recommendations, or
a call to action.
Follow the argument model:
Claim: The statement being argued (a thesis)
Data: The facts or evidence used to prove the argument
Warrants: The general, hypothetical (and often implicit) logical statements that serve as bridges
between the claim and the data. Explore warrants that show how the data logically is connected
to the claim.
Qualifiers: Statements that limit the strength of the argument or statements that propose the
conditions under which the argument is true.
Rebuttals: Counter-arguments or statements indicating circumstances when the general argument
does not hold true.
Backing: Statements that serve to support the warrants (i.e., arguments that don’t necessarily
prove the main point being argued, but which do prove the warrants are true.)
You also need to adhere to the following academic writing standards:
Use parallel structure where needed.
Provide examples to support your argument and refute the counter arguments.
Choose accurate vocabulary to express your ideas.
Use correct grammar.
Use APA conventions when you cite sources.
Use academic writing style; avoid using spoken/slang vocabulary and structure.
Avoid using fallacies.
Use information fairly.

In ONE -Two paragraphs – Historical Events notes provided below, Blake is a product of an evolution in thought. Based on the Brief Biography of William Blake (and his art work!), Blake may be considered somewhat of a revolutionary in both thought and in action. Considering the information provided and, of course, the poem, who do you think William Blake may be rebelling against in his poem The Chimney Sweeperand what is the irony of the final line of the poem, So if all do their duty, they need not fear harm?
Brief biography of William Blake

William Blake British (1757-1827) grandfather of Romantic Movement

Very spiritual
Not formally educated although he went to art school at ten. Check out Blakes, much later in life drawings at William Blakes Paintings Image Results. Very cool.
Apprenticed to an engraver at 14 years old.
His family was of modest means. He had to work.
Married at 24 to Catherine Boucher. Catherine was illiterate, so Blake taught her to read.
1794 publishes Songs of Innocence and of Experience.
According to the Norton Anthology of English Literature, the turning point of Blakes life came in 1803 when he attacked by a private in the Royal Dragoons (British military) who refused to leave his property and threatened and cursed Blake and his wife. Blake pushed him (soldier) 50 yards to the inn where he was quartered. Blake was charged with sedition but beat the case. (Abrams) NOTE: One might suggest that the British Crown was threatened by Blakes writing. You be the judge as we read his poetry.

Historical events in relation to the Romantic Period (1785-1830) in literature 2) Brief Biography of William Blake (1757-1827) 3) Read The Grey Monk www.bartleby.com/235/138.htm  (You will  have to type in The Grey Monk and William Blake as this site doesn’t come up by clicking on it)  and The Chimney Sweeper www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/43654 by William Blake. 4)  The Chimney Sweeper by William Blake.

Historical Events

Prior to, and occurring during, the Romantic Period (1785-1830) in literature, there are significant events that may have played a part in influencing the authors of the Romantic Period and allowed them to flourish.

The Enlightenment Period (1715-1789).
The Industrial Revolution (1760 est. 1840/1860).
The American Revolution (1775 1783).
Declaration of Independence (1776).
The French Revolution (1789-1799) Storming of the Bastille July 14th 1789. Reign of terror follows. *Note: For a classic film version of this historical event check out A Tale of Two Cities (1935 I know! black and white, but worth it) based on the novel by Charles Dickens. Or read the Dickens novel if you are interested. It really does capture the glory of the storming of the Bastille and the horror that follows during the Reign of Terror.
The Romantic Period in literature begins in 1785
We can see the word revolution has a real cachet at this time in history.  And it is important to consider the Romantic Period as a revolution in writing. Prior to the Romantics, writers were restricted by form and in many ways content. Consider writers, for centuries, were writing for the part of the population who were literate, and writers were also writing at the behest and for the pleasure of the nobility.  The Romantic Period changes that…somewhat.

Also note: In England, unlike in France, the citizens within the country were not uprisingor were they in their own way?  Nevertheless, the American Revolution was taking place an ocean (Atlantic) away.  In England, even to this day, a monarch still sits on the throne.

One variable that I believe is the most important to take note of when Im selecting a teaching strategy is my students. Heredity, culture, and past experiences have tangible effects on how students learn (Fressola & Patterson, 2017). While it would be ideal to be able to use the same teaching strategy every time in my career, it may need changes or adjustments depending on my students. One of the first activities I will do when I meet a new class is to assess their learning styles. By doing this, I can determine how congruent their styles are with my teaching style (Fressola & Patterson, 2017). Because of this, I should have various learning styles in my toolbox. It will be prudent to incorporate blooms taxonomy to ensure I am creating a space for learning for all of my students. Because my students will be the most diverse, I must not get too comfortable with my own learning style to ensure I am incorporating others (Fressola & Patterson, 2017).

The second variable that needs to be considered prior to selecting a teaching strategy is what the outcome is. There are so many different forms of teaching, but it depends on what concept or topic I am trying to get across. For example, flipping the classroom is a student-centered method of teaching (Fressola & Patterson, 2017). It reverses the table and makes students accountable for accessing course content outside of the classroom. If I wanted to show relationships among concepts, I would incorporate concept maps. They are designed to help students develop logical thinking as they explore relationships among ideas. This would result in an understanding of the big picture (Fressola & Patterson, 2017). There are so many different forms of teaching strategies out there, but it all depends on what I am trying to accomplish with my students.

Teaching strategies should promote critical thinking, reflection, and skill development while being designed based on the student’s needs (Senthamarai, 2018). Students learn in various ways, so considering different learning style preferences when selecting a teaching strategy is imperative to all students’ success. Factoring in different learning styles will also improve student engagement which will increase the learning that occurs. It is known that engaged learners are more motivated and have a higher desire to achieve their learning goals (Billings & Halstead, 2016). Engaged learners can also apply the concepts taught in the clinical setting (Billings & Halstead, 2016).

Another factor to consider about your target audience is the age of the learner. Based on adult learning theories, adults use their past experiences to help them learn new things and solidify new learning (InstructionalDesign, 2020). When considering a teaching strategy for an adult, one must choose a method that allows them to draw on their experiences to get the most out of the experience. It is also important to consider generational differences and how they impact learning. Each generation has different characteristics and has lived through different times, which impacts who they are. Although not everyone born in a generation will have the same values, they share common circumstances of what was happening in the world while growing up that shape their worldview. In general, older generations will not be as knowledgeable and comfortable with technology as younger generations who grew up using it and don’t remember when the information was not just a click away. These differences impact how they learn best.

Case Study #3 Report
Case 4-29

Answer each question as if you were the managerial accountant for the company and are presenting to the company vice-president regarding the information requested in the case study. You must not only give the correct numbers but also explain to management what variable costing is, why variable costing is useful and why the net income is different for absorption vs variable costing, and also why net income is different for LIFO vs FIFO. Then follow the explanation up with a recommendation for management reporting.

For each answer explain the terminology and concepts used. For example, rather than just give the product cost/net income, explain the calculation – this is a professional report from a managerial accountant to the company vice-president.

Use outside sources when necessary BUT MAKE SURE YOU CITE THEM!

When giving a recommendation, back it up with numbers. Make sure you address the original dilemma – lowest bid in different situations.

This particular answer should be a managerial accounting report to the company president that is no more than 2 pages in length.

Please note that the questions you are required to answer are:
How might one characterizer the architectural paint coatings industry and Janmar Coatings’ trade area?
How might one segment Janmar Coatings’ market area?
Which segment(s) represent opportunities for Janmar Coatings?
What is Janmar Coatings’ competitive position in its market area?
Which segment or segments should Janmar Coatings pursue?
What strategy should Janmar Coatings adopt to reach the segment(s) sought?

I found a study that incorporated Universal Design for Learning (UDL) strategies to 70 educators who taught anywhere from Pre-K to college courses. UDL is a scientifically based framework that appreciates the diversity of all learners (Evmenova, 2018). Along with the varied grade levels, there was also great variability in subjects observed. This included language arts (28.6%), math (20%), social studies (14.3%), foreign language (7.6%), science (7.1%), and art and music (5.7%) (Evmenova, 2018). The three main principles of UDL includes multiple means of engagement, representation, and action/expression. Multiple means of engagement include ongoing feedback to students, timely response to students questions, use of office hours, and learning objectives for each module. Multiple means of representation are geared toward providing learning opportunities for the diverse learners. This includes content in text, audio, video formats, and PowerPoint presentations. Simulations for nursing students is another example of this principle. Lastly, multiple means of action/expression include how weekly activities and assignments are to be completed, giving students the choice to submit assignments in various formats like a PowerPoint, video, or audio discussion. In this exploratory study, the 70 educators were given an online course to learn about UDL implementation. The data was collected through end-of-course surveys for both the educator and the students to evaluate the success of UDL implementation (Evmenova, 2018). I thought this study was great because it already understood and appreciated that all learners are diverse. Everyone learns a different way and expresses what they learn in a different way. Some previous courses we have taken have asked us to present our findings in our preferred way. For example, I created a PowerPoint for my assignment, whereas I saw others create a video. Like previously stated, part of the UDL principle is celebrating different forms of expression when it comes to learning. When I become an educator, I will keep the UDL principles in mind to make sure I am catering to my students needs. For example, one week I may require my students to write a paper to cater to those that express themselves best in that way. The next week, I will cater towards those that like to present in a more creative manner.

Diverse voices are heard by our patients and our nursing profession. Supporting both is an ethical, moral, and professional responsibility. Described in the research article, Issues influencing success: Comparing the perspective of nurse educators and diverse nursing students, differences between diverse nursing students and educators in a baccalaureate nursing program were presented. Nursing students saw a lack of relationships with faculty and students, and nurse educators saw the biggest challenge with language proficiency (Fuller & Mott-Smith, 2017). The research study used a mixed method design and included three focus groups with nursing students whose native language was not English. The educator study group had an average of 12 years of teaching experience.

The results of the study by the educators and the students identified the following:

Workload a major challenge
Teaching practices ineffective, diverse students wanted more visual aids compared to stories.
Test taking difficulties.
I chose this article because we need to be reminded that diversity in all aspects of healthcare is around us every day. As a future educator, I need to support and promote academic achievement of diverse nursing students with self-reflection, dialogue, and effective teaching strategies.
