Instructions
This assignment is the first step in a three part project. You only need to focus on part one at this point. Each step will build on earlier steps. However, it is not a matter of providing a rough draft of all or even part of the entire project here in week three. That is, further steps might require completely new and original text.  At the same time, completing each step will aid you in completing a future step or future steps. And, you should use the same topic in all steps.

First, select a topic of moral controversy, debate, disagreement, and dispute, Examples of such topics are euthanasia,  cloning, etc. You can pick any such topic. It need not be listed here.

Next, detail the positions of each side of the ethical debate. Note at least two moral reasons each side presents to show their view on the topic is correct.

Now, we want to evaluate these positions using the moral theories we studied this week:

What would an Ethical Egoist say about this topic? What side would the Ethical Egoist take? What would the Ethical Egoist say to justify their moral position? Is there a conflict between loyalty to self and to community relevant to your topic? If so, how so? Note what you feel is the best course of action.
What would a Social Contract Ethicist say about this topic? What side would the Social Contract Ethicist take? What would the Social Contract Ethicist say to justify their moral position? Does your topic involve a collision between personal obligations and national ones? If so, how so? Note what you feel is the best course of action.
Finally, reference and discuss any professional code of ethics relevant to your topic such as the AMA code for doctors, the ANA code for nurses, or any other pertinent professional code. State whether and how your chosen topic involves any conflicts between professional and familial duties.

Cite the textbook and incorporate outside sources, including citations.

What does Manuela Thurner argue is the reason women campaigned against their own suffrage?

Analyze the Anti-suffrage leaflet on page 215. Whose argument does that primary source best support?

Early theories of developmental psychology often treated women as though they were somehow less than men. Consistent with changes in culture as a whole, today s theories recognize differences between men and women, but do not assume one sex is superior or more complete than the other. Which of the following would historians of psychology be most likely to say has changed?

Task: Write a formal research report

Audience: An interested, professional audience

Length: ~2500 words, plus front matter and back matter like title page, abstract, and bibliography

Write a research paper on a current topic of interest in your discipline or profession.  If you are a business major, your topic must address some issue of diversity in businessfor example, gender or race issues in the workplace, or communication with people from different cultures.  All other majors are free to choose your own topic from those within your major.

Your topic does not have to be cleared with me, although for most of you I will see the topic in your proposal. You are not required to use the same topic as the proposal, but I encourage you to do so. You will save yourself time and and build a better project this way by letting your research and thinking work on a particular problem at length. If you decide on a more specific, or slightly different version of the project after your proposal, youre welcome to shift the focus of the report without clearing it with me.

You will be expected to gather information from outside sources (books, articles, personal or phone interviews, government documents, etc.).  The documentation format to follow is APA.

Format

If your major is anything other than English or history, you are to use the format specified by APA.  English and history majors are to use the format specified by MLA.

Evaluation

Grading will be complicated to reflect the complexity of a research report, so please examine the online rubric carefully to see the precise grading criteria. But generally here is what I will be looking at.

the correct format of the paper (using APA )
the accuracy and completeness of the References list or list of Works Cited at the end
the location and content of the parenthetical citations in the text itself
the accuracy, usefulness, and smoothness of insertion of quotes, paraphrases, and summaries
effective use of a logical organizational structure for the essay
a clear and effective statement of the thesis in paragraph one of the paper
effective body paragraphs that are unified, coherent, and complete.  I will choose at least one at random at look at it very carefully
research that is recent, scholarly, and relevant to your topic, and sufficient in scope to make your case.

All responses mustinclude page # listed where you found the answer in the book. Read textbook chapters attached. Fill out attached assesment, create powerpoint.

In this Assessment, we focus on the 3-5 age range of preschool through Kindergarten and observation, documentation and assessment. Choose a literacy-based lesson appropriate for this age group and create a powerpoint presentation  (12 slides) demonstrating it and including how you would plan for observation and documentation throughout the lesson. This should be for a general education class in Preschool should be a class of 15-18 . Include an assessment and/or documentation tool that you would use to measure student learning and provide a written rationale (2 single space pages) for this choice in addition to addressing it in presentation. The assessment or documentation tool created or shared makes sense for the lesson and stated objectives. Comprehensive evidence is provided as well as references to textbooks about why this tool is efficient and captures appropriate and useful data to inform instruction.  Fill out the Assessment Self-Assessment questionnaire provided attached to analyze your approach to assessment and how you did/would provide feedback throughout the lesson.
At least one of the two textbooks are referred to in the presentation a minimum of 3 times total in presentation and rationale.

In  1940,  newly-elected president Manuel vila Camacho  declared  that  the  Revolution  had  entered  into  an  evolutionary  phase.    As  a  result,  the  institutional  revolution  would  embark  on  a  new  path  starting  in  the  1940s.    Often  referred  to  as  the  Mexican  miracle,  the  country  would  experience  unprecedented  growth, industrialization, and political stability.    How did  the  state go  about  constructing this miracle?    How did the state manage  to  keep  this  development drive  going  and  who  ultimately paid  the  price  for  it?    Why  did  the  miracle finally collapse in 1982in other words, what  went  wrong?  All in all, how much of this miracle would you say was fact and how much was fiction?

Reference to a reading can be made by using the authors last name (e.g., Sackett shows . . .) no page citations or works cited page are required.

Doremus and Sackett articles are more useful sources, but if you think any other two readings can provide a better quality paper then please use it. Thank you!
