In this assignment, students are asked to analyse the content of an interview provided.  Four interviews are provided with managers currently working in senior positions at multinational organisations. This interview will consist of three questions related to the topics covered in class and a question in which the manager is asked to identify a problem that they face in their current work that psychology could help with. Students are asked to relate the concepts discussed in class (and in any further research that they carry out) to the real-life experiences of managers. This should demonstrate a strong theoretical understanding of the concepts described, as well as a justification for why the concept relates to the content of the interview. our leaders try to really regain some

form of control

in this really big change situation and

however to overcome the crisis like the

current one it needs

really transformational leadership and

engagement in an organization are of

we started to to really to to support

our leaders we started an open

and an open dialogue with our leaders

they talked about that and this has been

and then the next step was really to

and this was really done on a personal

level on the one hand

since we are a large organization we did

platform but this was really essential

this process

really took time and a long breath

because it’s not done in one day

and it’s not an easy way because you get

they’re very active on these platforms

for their opinions their their

and they role model the way in sharing

coming to the second questions what kind

we have for example a kind of initiative

it’s called stronger together

engaged and they shared their learnings

even their their fears but coming out of

this situation they discussed new

approaches to solve problems and they

kind of signal for psychological safety

in our organization at the moment is

even in this really massive crisis

in response to dealing with the current

we have established plenty of really

diverse teams working on a variety of

projects

to renew and to transform our

organization

and this is one of our answers to really

with the crisis so i would like to give

you one example because i

am myself i’m working since last july

in a project team with a mandate to

create

people engagement initiatives to guide

the organization through this

massive period of changes and

our project team for example consists of

a really diverse range of thinkers some

of whom
11:58
had no previous experience with hr

topics at

all so this is really quite something

new so

the team is made up as follows so i i

just like to mention that because then

you see it’s really a diverse

range of people so there’s a pilot there

are two cabin crew leaders

there are two colleagues from ground

operations and there’s one colleague

only from really classical hr we have
12:21
four colleagues from culture and
12:23
transformation including one change
12:24
expert

and a project leader she’s from sales so

this is really diverse as you can see so

at the first glance

when we established that team and i i
12:35
entered into that process

i thought hey establishing such a
12:39
diverse team seems to be
12:40
quite complicated not easy to manage

and it is true looking at the practical

aspects it needs a high degree

of collaboration capabilities and
12:51
openness
12:52
and tolerance and respect for the
12:54
different views
12:55
and ways of working of course and
12:57
perspectives from all the team members

involved

and yes you have to get used to this and

it can be a challenge in certain

situations

however my experience i also would like

to share is that

the last 10 months have shown that the

advantages

far outweigh the challenges especially

in overcoming

this current really drastic situation

for us

to mention some advantages i have just

noted some of those so i would like to

share them with you

the project team itself for example

represents the organization’s various

employee groups

which makes our project team really fast

and more accurate when it comes to

determining the requirements

of any initiative so at first we didn’t

realize that but then suddenly we

thought hey

um there’s everyone here in the room so

we can decide

on any initiative quite fast and

you think your colleagues will accept

reaction in one of our largest

a very fantastic experience and it makes

then the team offers very different

perspectives and approaches to the daily

challenges

which lead to a more creative and

innovative

form of dealing with it and we have

wide range of ideas you know to get one

so this is if you have a diverse team

really valuable for them because it’s

their peer and it’s kind of really

kind of you know present giving the peer

to the peer and this is kind

really powerful so i think this is when

going to high performance and people not

just hearing this feedback but

really taking it and doing something

peer group counseling is really a kind

key factor in this regard when it comes

takes courage it takes courage from the

it takes confidence and of course the

also oneself emotionally as well as

this is really quite a challenge

Business Model Reverse Engineering

Reverse engineering is the process of discovering the (technological) principles of a device, object or system through analysis of its structure, function and operation. B.K. Behera, 2011

The task is to analyze a business model case through the concepts and methods practiced in class. To do so, students will choose a case of an established company, research about its early beginnings, and discuss the changes applied to its business model over time.

The analysis must include:

A brief introduction (1 paragraph) that summarizes how the company started compared to how it is today.
A clear identification of the main and secondary changes of the business model (Canvas) over time.
A description of the problems/discoveries that may have prompted those changes.
A reflection on how design and design thinking methods may have facilitated this transformation.

Overall, the analysis should uncover the key components and assumptions of the given cases business model specifying the blocks of the canvas chosen to build their analysis. Students can support their findings with information/content found on the firm’s website as long as it is referenced and argued accordingly, however, this information might only be used to support the responses. The required word count is 1200 words (+- 10%), excluding references.

References like diagrams are optional but might help illustrate or support your analysis (Canvas before and after, etc.)

This is a term paper that has been written, but needing for revision and extension. The file “individual project” is the original paper, requirements are in the files “Detail” & “Modification”. The files naming “Sample1” & “Sample2” are examples (the requirements aren’t the same, just for reference).
