In what ways is the State Constitution of Florida similar to the U.S. Constitution? In what ways is it different?

Please write a formal essay with 4 paragraphs on the similarities between these constitutions and 4 paragraphs on the differences between these constitutions. Please remember that a paragraph is 5-7 sentences in this class. Each paragraph must contain 2 specific examples, one from the Florida Constitution and one from the U.S. Constitution), and a total of 8 paragraphs.

In an essay, answer one (1) question from the list of several questions:

ENUMERATE THE ANSWER AT THE BEGINNING OF THE ESSAY.

1. Discuss the origins, spread, and fracturing of Protestantism between 1517 and 1550. Be sure to note: 1) the theological and/or organizational differences among the various Protestant leaders and their churches; and 2) specifically where in Europe their new churches take hold and what political factors influence the process of ecclesiastical change.

2. Discuss the Catholic Churchs official responses to the rise of the call for reform in the Lateran Council (1512-1517) and Council of Trent (1545-1563). Why does the former council fail to stop what becomes known as Protestantism? Why does the latter council take so long to begin? Be sure to identify and discuss those things the Council of Trent changes and those it does not. Why does it change what it changes? Why does it not change other things?

3. In what ways was the European exploration and conquest of large parts of the New World after 1490 driven by the intersecting motivations of religion and politics at home in Europe? How did these varying motivations help drive the Columbian Exchange? What was the latter? How did human trafficking become an integral element therein? (This question does not violate what I said about the exams coverage. This material was assigned reading from Hunt and comes specifically from the period of the Reformation and the Catholic response.)

4. Identify and discuss the preconditions which, combined, create the possibility for a religious explosion in the Western Europe of the early 16th Century. (Nota bene: Mere identification of the preconditions simply by listing them will not suffice.)

discuss three works of art. Select at least two examples from the lectures on Linear Perspective in Practice and Disegno and Artistic Practice and compare both with an example from any of the previous lectures, discussing the use of perspective or the role of drawing. Be sure to think particularly about form – how does the introduction of perspective or focus on disegno affect the style and appearance of the works? You should also discuss the subject and context for each as well. Make sure you fully identify each work by artist, title, and date.

please read and respond to the following two chapters by Gyan Pandey, A History of Prejudice: Race, Caste and Difference in India and the United States, Cambridge, 2013:

Introduction
Chapter 2
Both chapters are in Files under ‘Pandey’

In your response try to address the following points: (i) how does Pandey go about comparing two communities that are historically, geographically and ethnically unconnected? (ii) How does Pandey understand and situate the concept of ‘difference’ in relation to these two communities?

briefly state the topic of the paper is going to be and what your working thesis is. Don’t just tell me the title; describe your topic

Also, provide links to three sources you are going to use in completing the paper.

Pick a particular organization, group, movement leader or population that identifies with one of the broader social movements, and explore how that organization/group both allies itself and differentiates itself from other groups in the broader movement. The paper should also explore the historical origins of the broader movement from which your organization, group, or movement leader emerged, and the specific circumstances which led to its creation.
Your central research question should be How does this organization, group, or leader fit into the broader movement of which it is a part?

You are encouraged to choose an organization or individual whom you have direct access to, and for which you can incorporate interviews, site visits, and fieldwork into discovering more about.  This can be a currently operating movement or organization, or one which had been active in the past. However, this is not a requirement.  You can also approach the paper from strictly a research-oriented perspective, especially if you are interested in a movement which you may not have direct access to (i.e. the Chinese democracy movement of 1989.)

Example: If you would like to write about the history of the environmental movement, you could contact a current organization in the NYC area, and interview the director of that organization. Or, you could specifically study a particular environmental organization using library research.  Your paper about that organization would discuss not also its history, its mission, and the issues in the movement it focuses on specifically, but also other organizations or strands of the movement to which it is related and interacts.

You are to write an essay of no more than one single spaced page. You must use standard margins and cite all sources using either MLA or APA, your bibliography may be on the second page. Failure to cite your sources can result in an F for the assignment. The link for submitting your essay is inside this folder.

Instructions: Read and analyze the information below. Answer the questions given with at least 135 words per answer.

1- Reconstruction to the Gilded Age:
“I Will Fight No More Forever” – Chief Joseph, 1877
The following is the emotional speech given by Chief Joseph of the Nez Perce (c. 1840-1904) upon his capture.

“Tell General Howard I know his heart. What he told me before, I have it in my heart. I am tired of fighting. Our Chiefs are killed; Looking Glass is dead, Ta Hool Hool Shute is dead. The old men are all dead. It is the young men who say yes or no. He who led on the young men is dead. It is cold, and we have no blankets; the little children are freezing to death. My people, some of them, have run away to the hills, and have no blankets, no food. No one knows where they are – perhaps freezing to death. I want to have time to look for my children and see how many of them I can find. Maybe I shall find them among the dead. Hear me, my Chiefs! I am tired; my heart is sick and sad. From where the sun now stands I will fight no more forever.”

What is your reaction to this declaration? What emotions do you detect? How is Joseph’s speech representative of many native sentiments during the end of the 19th century?

2- American Imperialism to the Age of Anxiety:
The Christmas Truce of 1914
On December 25, 1914, the armies of the Central Powers & the Allied Powers laid down their arms & celebrated the holiday of Christmas together in a stunningly uncommon act of human solidarity. Watch the following re-enactment & record your observations & reactions:

Can you imagine opposing forces engaging in such festivities today? Why or why not? What has changed (if anything)?

World War I Propaganda – 1914-1918
The following posters attached are pieces of wartime propaganda from The Great War, aka World War I (1914-1918). The emergence of highly dualistic materials became a common feature of war hereafter, and it became all too easy to dehumanize the enemy in the interest of a unifying message.

Pick a couple of the images and provide some commentary. What message(s) are these attempting to convey and why? What is/are their purpose(s)? What audience(s) are they geared toward?

3- The Reactionary Twenties To The Red Scare:
WWII in Color – “The Rise of the Third Reich”

In this outstanding series from the Discovery Channel, WWII in Color provides colorized film footage from the events that shaped the world during the second world war, much of it never seen before. This short excerpt, narrated by actor Kenneth Branagh, details Hitler’s rise to power.

Considering Hitler’s methods concerning politics when compared to that of Mussolini, which do you think is more effective? Which is more haunting in retrospect? Record any other reactions or questions you may have.

Thank you in advance.

For this essay, you are asked to compare Confucian, Daoist, and Legalist ideas about how people should be governed. To do so, review what happened in China during the long Zhou Dynasty and the Qin Dynasty (Chapter 3, pp. 122-134; Khan Academy, The Philosophers of the Warring States). As the book explains, during the later Zhou Dynasty (the Warring States Period), China fell into disarray as several states warred with one another for the right to rule the land. It was in this context that individuals engaged in philosophical reflection on what was needful to restore order and a good society. These individuals were later categorized as belonging to different schools of thought. Confucianism, Daoism, and Legalism were three of the most important.
For this essay, review that historical background and then read selections on governing from Confuciuss Analects, the Laozi (Old Master, also known as the Dao de jing), and the Han Feizi (Master Han Fei). These are, respectively, Confucian, Daoist, and Legalist texts, and the selections introduce the author or the person to whom the writing is rightly or wrongly attributed.

To write this essay, introduce the historical setting (time, place, events), these three texts and their authors (or putative authors), and the topic of the paper. The topic for this paper is Confucian, Daoist, and Legalist ideas about how people should be governed, and their similarities or differences. Explain these ideas based strictly on these three primary sources (be sure to read the entire selection). This highlighted point is important. Go to these ancient sources for yourself, and develop your insights based on them, and explain your reasoning based on them. That means quoting or paraphrasing them as necessary to explain your thinking. Then conclude.

Writing Guidelines:
Your completed assignment should be roughly 1000 words.
You must write in complete sentences and paragraphs. Bullet points or lists will not be accepted.
Please cite your sources internally using parenthetical citations or footnotes, and include a complete bibliography at the end of your paper.
Introducing materials from other sources risks plagiarism and should be avoided.
Use simplified internal citations just for this exam, ie (Berger, World History, 53) (Laozi, 1)  (Analects, 1:5) (Khan Academcy).
