PLEASE NOTE: The purpose of this assignment is for you take information from the first two articles and apply it to the third reading, not to necessarily express a political view one way or another.

Even though I assigned this article about Trump’s lies, I do not mean to offend anyone who has different political beliefs than me. I value all viewpoints, and a range of different ideas is part of what makes a college class interesting. I am always open-minded when  reading somone else’s opninion that is different from mine, so don’t hesitate to be honest about whatever political beliefs you have.

Assignment:

Find one point from the article “Why We Lie” to explain and argue either for or against something Chris Cillizza writes about in “3 theories on why Donald Trump’s lies don’t seem to faze him….”

Then, find one point from the article “What’s Good About Lying” to explain and argue either for or against something Chris Cillizza writes about in “3 theories.”

For example: Chris Cillizza begins his article with the example of Donald Trump lying to the NATO General Secretary about his father being born in Germany. This is an obvious lie because the fact is that Trump’s father was born in New York, while his grandfather was born in Germany. Why would Trump make such a blatant lie?  Jeremy Adam Smith explains that one reason people lie is to make others feel better. Smith calls these lies ‘proso cial lies’falsehoods told for someone elses benefit.” In this case, maybe Trump was trying to establish a connection with the Secretary General by pointing out something they had in common. So, who really cares? The reason this small lie is important is that it shows Trump’s pattern of lying, As Alix Lickerman explains, this kind of lie “unmasks a character defect we then have the opportunity to change.” The character defect here is that Trump lies about big and small things, and many of these lies are damaging to other people, as can be seen with the large number of deaths due to COVID 19.

Create a 1,750- to 2,100-word matrix to compare and evaluate three current leadership styles (identified in Discussion 1, Current Leadership Studies and Theories) which are emerging in the new world of work. Critically analyze what type of leadership will best suit a changing and future environment. In your response:

Define what shared, emergent, and collaborate leadership are, their characteristics, and how they will meet future leadership challenges related to a VUCA world.
Compare and contrast these leadership styles and recommend which leadership style will be the most suitable for a fast-changing environment.
Synthesize and integrate your arguments into your own understanding of how you would like to develop as a leader.

Support your evaluation and recommendations with five to seven scholarly, peer-reviewed sources.

Read the article,  Grossman, R. J. (2011, August). The Care and Feeding of High-Potential Employees. HR Magazine, 56(8), pp. 34-39 to identify why high-potential employees become dissatisfied with their employers and eventually decide to leave. Researchers have found that a major factor of high attrition among high-potential employees is the difference between what employers believe can motivate these employees and what can actually motivate them. A list of strategies to enhance workplace morale and engagement of high-potentials is presented.

Write a 300-word response to the following question(s)/prompt(s), include at least one APA-formatted citation/reference to a source from this lesson.

Question 1
Technology has improved on agricultural business and as a result new smart agribusinesses are enhancing
agricultural value chain. Farmers are provided with marketing opportunities that help them link their products
with potential customers. Other agribusiness entrepreneurs are adding value to raw materials and selling new
products at competitive prices. There is the need to create an online trading platform for farmers to trade their
commodities at favourable prices or store them to receive warehouse receipts. The receipt system will give
farmers the opportunity to deposit goods (mainly grains) in order to acquire a warehouse; a financial
instrument that shows deposit proof with the quality and quality of the goods in question. Farmers can delay
the sale of their commodities to a period when prices are more favourable. Warehouse receipt systems can
therefore mobilize credit for agricultural sector and improve agriculture trade.
One of the main criticisms of existing initiatives is that they do not cater for the needs of smallholder farmers
and market Queens and traders. For example, to become a member of the Ghana Commodity Exchange, you
need to have a valid business registration certificate and a business net worth of GHS80, 000.
The Ministry of Food and Agriculture in collaboration with National Board for Small Scale Industries
(NBSSI) are at the forefront of leveraging technology to ensure an efficient agriculture value chain.
Required:

iii) Define the scope of the solution.

What is “Whole-Person Management”? What does this approach integrate the leadership skills you need to manage an organization?  In the MacGregor, you will examine the idea of sustainable executive performance (SEP), which is an experiential approach for whole person learning. With your peers and Faculty Mentor, discuss the core commonalities of these two concepts and what influence they have on managerial performance and on executive function in the workplace. Reflect on how are the two ideas addressing sustainability, well-being and the welfare of the wider society?

Read and listen to the internet resources provided and synthesize the information provide on “whole-person management” and “sustainable executive performance.”

Towards whole person learning through sustainable executive performance from MacGegor, S. and Semler, K. (2012), Journal of Management Development, 31(3), pp. 231-242

Examine the ideas and concepts of Whole-Person Management in the workplace as an overhaul approach to manage workforce and enhance a sense of belonging and well-being both in and outside the work environment. HR Spark Ep6 Whole Person Management.

Synthesize what the author might mean by the following key points:

1.We see a logical link between both perspectives since innovation and the long-term success of a company should not be swayed by actions focused on short-term gain which often lead to irresponsible practices that destroy value for stakeholders in short, the values-value interplay cited by many corporate leaders but perhaps not as present in practice as we are led to believe.

2. In the same way that an organisation ought not be a machine that outsources innovation as a commodity, people are not machines who have an incomplete view of their whole self. A new type of leadership is critical to the sustainable competitiveness of a firm, which further permeates throughout the organisation.
