You will write a short mini-play that explores or comments on some local South Florida social, political, and/or economic topic or problem.  If it is a problem, do not preach or directly offer a realistic solution.  It can have a leaning towards a side of the issue, but of should not feel like a one-sided argument.  It can also simply not lean toward any side, but rather show the complexity of the issue that could engender a discussion of the topic after a performance.

The piece should be approximately 3 to minutes long.    That tends to about three pages of dialogue, at 12 pt. font.

All the possible views and angles and solutions of your chosen problem should be discussed thoroughly before the creation of any theatre piece.

Once youve explored the issue, decide what kind of style best addresses the issue.  You have to think of not only the topic/problem, but what would be the best way to present a story concerning it.

The purpose of this assignment is twofold:

Explore how theatre can be a tool of social commentary, causing dialogue among both the artists and audience on the complexities of the issues. Immediate solutions wont pop up from these. If the answer to any situation were easy, it would have been done already.
Get a taste of what its like to do theatre, at least write a play.

You will get to choose the topic/problem.  It may be a problem that is very specific to South Florida, or something that is common to many U.S. metropolitan areas, but has its own flavor in SoFLA.  Examples

Problems with Immigration
Traffic
Crime
Race/ethnic relations
Sexuality
Comparison/contrast to rural America
Problems due to suburban sprawl
Religious issues
Medicare fraud (a big topic for South Florida)
Language barriers
Political rivalries
The sky is the limit!!!
The scene may present a beginning middle and an ending (like the Aristotelean plotline we discussed in class), and it would probably be best if it did. However, it does NOT have to.  It can present a more static or loosely written plot (think back to our lecture and readings of certain Asian styles of theatre).
It can be ANY style of theatre.
Straight up Realism
Poetic Drama
Satire
Dance/movement oriented theatre
Sky is the limit!
The scene may have a personal resolution for the characters without clearly offering a solution for the social/political/economic problem on a larger scale. In other words, the scene can show the effects of the problem on individuals, and through that the audience gets a sense of the bigger picture.
As far as format, remember its a playscript,, not a short story.  You may search online for templates and examples; there are a multitude of sites.

Please read the academic article, Virtual Teams Research: 10 Years, 10 Themes, and 10 Opportunities, by Gilson, Maynard, Young, Vartiainen, and Hakonen (2015) and write a short essay (about 200-300 words) by answering to the following questions: 1) what are the major challenges to the functioning of leadership in a virtual team context? 2) what do you think are some possible solutions to deal with these challenges in leading a virtual team? 3) what is the most intriguing part to you in this article regarding virtual teams or leading virtual teams?

Zeus Modification

Recreate the Zeus world.  In this world, a philosopher has been zapped by lightning and is scorched to show he has met a tragic ending.  However, the philosopher is still in the scene and the user can zap him again.

Revise the program to allow the user to zap each philosopher.  Make each zapped philosopher fall down below the ground, where he can’t be mouse-clicked again.

Include comments for each major instruction in your program.

-Download the initial scene for the project
-Create the methods and events
-Once you have it ready, then perform the modifications  in this project
-Each philosopher that is zapped should fall below the ground where he can’t be zapped again
-The Lightning Bolt should not be seen as it returns to the cloud
-The sound should play

I am supposed to be writing a paper for my Comp 2 class on solutions and recommendations to my overall assigned topic which is climate change and the impact it has on polar bears. It is 700 words minimum and needs 4-6 citations from 2 different sources. And each solution should have at least one citation from a valid source. I pasted the full list of instructions that are shown on the assignment page for the paper.
I would like this paper to sound educated but not overly informative, but enough where it shows that a decent amount of research was done if that makes sense. Thanks.

You will be researching solutions and making recommendations.  Your solutions need to be supported by research.  Look at what has been tried in the past and evaluate how well it worked.  The number of solutions you propose is up to you.  You might want to propose three solutions and then make a recommendation based on which solutions you think would work best.

Recommendation reports usually begin with a description of the problem.  You have already completed this section when you wrote the technical description paper defining your problem.

This report is going to focus on the solutions to the problem you presented in the technical description.  The recommendation report answers the question, “What is the best option?”

Your job is to do more than provide your client with a recommendation.  You need to provide data to support your conclusions.  The reader will check your research, your logic, and your conclusions before accepting your recommendation.  This means that you must provide research to support your recommendations. You will set up your recommendation report as follows:

Introduction

Your purpose statement should indicate that the document is a recommendation report.  You should provide an overview of the main points to be presented in the paper.

Solutions

You need to decide which possible solutions you are going to present.  You should present more than one solution.  You might want to discuss solutions that have been tried in the past but have not been successful.

When you present the possible solutions, make sure you are very clear and have research to show that this solution is a viable and logical solution that has been tried in the past.  If the solution was successful, give data showing that it was a good choice. Clearly describe the solution as well as its advantages and disadvantages.

Recommendations

After you have presented all of the options, choose the one option that you feel would best meet your client’s needs.  This should be based on effectiveness, cost, support needed, etc. At this point in the report, you can argue for this recommendation over the others by stressing its advantages and providing data to support your argument.

Media Analysis Paper

Directions: This assignment asks you to serve as a cultural critic towards the end of the semester. Write a 3 page paper, double-spaced, 12-point font, using the cultural analysis techniques/topics that we have employed/learned about in this course this semester. Follow each of the steps detailed below and answer each of the questions in their entirety..AKA deal with the 4 Focus Areas.

Four Focus Areas for Media Analysis Paper

Select a specific item within a media form studied in this course for a textual analysis/interpretation. Examples of a specific item within a media form might include a film, an episode of a television series, a graphic novel, an album by an artist or musical group, a radio broadcast, a podcast, a website, a book, etc. Please consult with your instructor if you have any questions about your specific item within the media that you are choosing.

Focus Area 1. What is the text saying AKA what is the media form saying? What values does it endorse? Choose one issue such as popular culture, race, class, gender, sexuality, violence, authority, individuality, responsibility, duty, conformity, success or happiness and other such issues and address how your item reflects/addresses the issue? (HA 1)

Focus Area 2. What role does your item play in reference to popular culture, the media and society? (HA 2)

Focus Area 3. How does the item of media build on the tradition of its genre or medium? (HA 3)

Focus Area 4. How does the item use the potential/tools of its medium in order to communicate a message? (HA 4)

Review Chapter 5 in your textbook, God with Us: An Introduction to the Old Testament.
Review the following from a standard translation of the Bible as noted in the syllabus:

    Judges
    2 Samuel
    Genesis 12
    Proverbs 110

Write a three  (3) page paper addressing the following:

Summarize the characteristics of the covenant that you see in Joshua 5:112 and Joshua 24, where the Hebrews said, We will serve the Lord our God and obey Him.
Discuss your thoughts as to why the book of Joshua begins and ends with these repetitions of the covenant.
Select one judge from the book of Judges.
Briefly describe the surrounding historical context of Israels sin, its oppressor, their cry to God in repentance or cry for mercy, and Gods deliverance through the judge.
Detail how the general behaviors of each party fit into covenant agreement or covenant violation (God, the judge, and Israel).
List and describe the major contributions of Davids monarchy to the establishment of the nation of Israel.
Discuss Gods promise to David in 2 Samuel 7.
Describe how these promises compare with Gods promises to Abraham in Genesis 12.
Describe how these two covenants are still meaningful in our time.
Billy Graham is said to have read through the book of Proverbs each month for many years of his life.
Discuss the value of this habit.
Describe the Important Themes in Proverbs as described in your textbook.
Discuss the basic black and white issues described in your textbook and the contrasting results of choosing wisdom and choosing folly.

Be sure to cite and reference your textbook where you quote or paraphrase the authors thoughts.  Cite scriptures you use in your paper.  All citations should be formatted using correct APA format.
Copy the questions into the body of your paper and answer the questions in well-written paragraphs.
Your responses should demonstrate understanding (synthesis) of the material.  Simple lists or sentence fragments are not acceptable.
Whenever possible, apply the principles learned to life in the twenty-first century.
When you have completed your assignment, save a copy for yourself and submit a copy to your instructor using the Assignment submission page, by the end of the workshop.

In a 5 page paper, please address these questions in their entirety. Merely answering each question in isolation from one another is insufficient for full credit. What I expect from you is for you to form a thesis that binds your thoughts together. While no outside sources are required, you must cite any source you use, and I expect you to reference the material presented in both lecture and from the book. The paper should be 5 pages, double spaced, with 1 inch margins, 12 point font, and a widely used font (no odd fonts that either decrease or increase your papers length) Times New Roman, Calibiri, Arial are all appropriate.

Questions:

How has the fear of a strong central government influenced the creation of our government, and how does that fear shape contemporary politics? How should the government ensure that the rights of both the majority and the minority are protected? What specific rights do you feel are under threat? What justification does the opposing side of those rights have for their viewpoint? How would you ensure that the rights you identify are protected?

You must cite all sources used for this paper, and I strongly encourage you to use relevant and vetted sources to both learn about your topic, and as sources to support your analysis. Wikipedia is an excellent starting point to learn about any topic, but it has no place in an academic paper. Any use of Wikipedia, Sparknotes, or the dictionary as a source will result in your paper being graded down.

In your paper, you should discuss the types of systems, capabilities, structures, limitations, payloads, support equipment, and users. It is not enough to merely list what is the same and what is different. Why is it important to see what is the same and what is different? Compare and contrast essays to promote critical thinking. Ensure you apply critical thinking; do not just list or discuss two separate UAS. The following requirements must be followed in your research paper.
Compare and contrast both UAS together, throughout the whole paper.
