Type Your Title Here (Suggestion Teaching Philosophy)
Before you begin to write your philosophy reflect on the following questions: 1) What is the ultimate purpose of education, 2) What is worth knowing, 3) What is the role of students in the teaching and learning process, 4) What is the role of teachers in the teaching and learning process.
Begin typing your introduction here.  Your introduction will be about 1 to 2 paragraphs.  Remember to indent your paragraphs and to make sure that your paragraphs contain 5 to 6 complete sentences.  According to MLA, one paragraph is 5 to 6 sentences. Please adhere to this format.
Begin typing your body here.  In the body you will identify which of the following 5 educational philosophies (i.e., Perennialism, Essentialism, Progressivism, Social Recontructionism, or Existentialism) best align with your beliefs about teaching and learning and why (see pages 234- 235, lecture slides, and watch video clip in D2L). Do not forget to identify explicitly the educational philosophy that best matches or aligns with your beliefs about teaching and learning. For example, if you believe that testing students is the best way to determine if they have acquired knowledge and skills, you will most likely write about perennialism.  Make sure you define what perennialism is and why your beliefs are more perennialistic.  NOTE: If you copy the definition in your textbook or from another source, you will need to give the authors proper credit. If not, this will be considered plagiarism. Use MLA format to cite your sources.  You do not have to have a works cited page, but please site any sources you use.  This section will be about 2 to 3 paragraphs.
Begin typing your conclusion here.  In your conclusion, you need to integrate a quote that represents or sums up your educational philosophy. Dont forget to put the quote in quotation marks and to cite the author in parenthesis directly after the quote.  Many, many, many quotes about teaching and learning can be found through Google and Pinterest.  This section will be about 1 to 2 paragraphs.

Research Paper on Interest Groups

Please select one of the following topics found on the list below concerning interest groups and the issues they represent.  You can review what interest groups do by referring to Chapter 11 in your textbook.

For instance, if you happen to choose gay rights, you have to research at least one interest group that supports  gay rights (e.g. National Gay & Lesbian Task Force) and at least one interest group that opposes anti gay rights (e.g. Traditional Values Coalition).

You must then research the websites of the interest groups representing the issue you have selected to write about.  The interest groups you select must be from the United States.

In your paper you must answer/summarize the following:

1.  Define what an interest group is.

2.  What is your opinion on the issue you chose to research? (no more than two paragraphs should be devoted to this section)

3.  Summarize the information you find in the websites of the interest groups you selected to research.  What does each interest group have to say about the issues they are representing?

4.  How do the interest groups  you are researching embed themselves into politics?  Do they endorse      candidates?  Do they provide campaign funds?

5.  What do the two sides say about the groups that oppose their views?

6.  What incentives do these interest groups offer people?  Are they trying to recruit people to join their interest groups?  Do they ask for donations?  Be specific.

5) Include a cover page.

6) Include a reference page.

7) Include at least 4 references (one for each website of the interest groups your are researching, at least one to describe the issue, and at least one to describe what an interest group does)

Write a paragraph that discusses what Ms. Smith could do to identify his decoding areas of need and then discuss an instructional plan that Ms. Smith could use to support this student.

Guidelines
The purpose of this assignment is to build your analytical skills. These questions are designed to help you better understand the document and its historical significance. Your job here is to fully answer these questions: simple one-word answers will not suffice. In order to get full credit on this assignment you must fully explain your answers and give examples from the source. The point is for you to come out of this with a very good understanding of these documents. Fully answering these questions will help you do so.

Since you will quote from the source assigned in order to illustrate your analysis, it is required that you include citations and give credit for use of the source.

Expected minimum length of the Primary Source Analysis assignment is 500 words. This length does not include the Chicago-style footnote citation or any heading and title details. You could organize your speech chronologically, geographically, or around feasts or religious activities. You could compare your family traditions to someone from another culture. You could organize according to food/gifts/songs.  Whatever logical presentation helps the audience to follow your train of thought!  When we do this activity in a face-to-face class, I am always amazed at what students come up with when working in their groups!  View at least 2 of your classmate’s outlines.  Point out any corrections or non-logical subordination of points.  Give kudos for clever organization!

Parents can use the handbook of a child care facility to learn about the procedures and expectations of the facility to assist them in selecting the best placement for their children.

For this assignment, you will create a handbook for a child care facility you plan to open. The purpose of the handbook is to provide prospective families with information about the center.

You may use information from any of your previous assignments in this course to assist you in building the content of your handbook (incorporating any constructive feedback you may have received from your instructor).
