Essay Topic
In an internet article for paperwritings.com, (https://www.paperwritings.com/free-examples/critical-analysis-of-ifrs-essay.html), the authors state that the:

Adoption of the IFRS in many countries has various advantages. It will lead to economic stability in different countries due to the increased foreign investment and division of labour. There will be decreased transaction costs such as training, accountancy and audit fees for the foreign investors. IFRS greatly reduces earnings manipulation as it increases the transparency of the financial statements. There are mandatory disclosures in the off-balance sheet items that make it hard for the company accountants to manipulate the profit and asset figures. It also decreases the costs of equity. The investors are able to understand the accounting data of investments clearer reducing the perceived risks of the project. They are more willing to accept lower returns.
Finally, the IFRS encourages fair value accounting which shows the investors the market prices of the companys assets and liabilities. It acts as a signal in times of economic boom and depression. It also encourages and ensures corporate governance in the company which leads to healthy companies.

Dane Evers

Dane Evers started Evers Vegetarian Foods 12 years ago that currently has $400M in annual sales.  In a recent acquisition, Wonder Products agreed to purchase Evers Vegetarian Foods.  As part of the settlement, Dane was promised a senior position with Wonder Products.  The agreement also made accommodations for several of the key managers and employees to work for Wonder Products as Dane expressed his gratitude and respect for these employees who were highly skilled, educated and experienced employees.  In the interview, Dane shared that he encourages these staff members to get involved in both major and minor discussions stating that he like to think of the business as a family.  Everyone calls each other by their first names and Dane indicated that everyone is willing to roll up their sleeves to meet deadlines.  Dane admitted that while he depends on the people that comprise Evers Vegetarian Foods, that he likes to be immersed in the business and always wants to stay informed as to what is happening with every department.  He laughed and indicated that likes to know the facts so that the most rational decisions can be made.  He also shared that he has limited experience with Marketing but believes that he believes that since he has been leading Evers Vegetarian Foods through its growth that he could easily manage Wonder Products into a new venture.  Dane  feels confident he is the best candidate and is a front runner for the position.

The following are specific requirements that you will follow.  Use the checklist to mark off that you have followed each specific requirement.

Checklist

Specific Project Requirements

Proofread your paper

Read and use the grading rubric while completing the paper to ensure all requirements are met that will lead to the highest possible grade.

Third person writing is required.  Third person means that there are no words such as I, me, my, we, or us (first person writing), nor is there use of you or your (second person writing).  If uncertain how to write in the third person, view this link:  http://www.quickanddirtytips.com/education/grammar/first-second-and-third-person.

Contractions are not used in business writing, so do not use them.

Paraphrase and do not use direct quotations.  Paraphrase means you do not use more than four consecutive words from a source document.  Removing quotation marks and citing is inappropriate.  Instead put a passage from a source document into your own words and attribute the passage to the source document.  There should be no passages with quotation marks.  Using more than four consecutive words from a source document would require direct quotation marks.  Changing words from a passage does not exclude the passage from having quotation marks.  If more than four consecutive words are used from source documents, this material will not be included in the grade.

You are expected to use the research and weekly course materials to develop the analysis and support the reasoning.  There should be a robust use of the course material.  Material used from a source document must be cited and referenced.  A reference within a reference list cannot exist without an associated in-text citation and vice versa.  Changing words from a passage does not exclude the passage from having quotation marks.

Use in-text citations and provide a reference list that contains the reference associated with each in-text citation.

You may not use books in completing this problem set unless part of the course material.  Also, do not use a dictionary, Wikipedia or Investopedia or similar sources.

Provide the page or paragraph number in every in-text citation presented.  Since the eBook does not have page numbers, include the chapter title and topic heading.  If using a video, provide the minutes and second of the cited material.

MODULE 10-14

One of the key starting points for understanding environmental movements of the past, present, and future is making sense of how we think and talk about nature.

1) In the topic of your post, name an environmental issue you are interested in.
2) Then, post a paragraph (~200 words):
– why this issue is interesting to you, and how you are involved in it (can range from simply learning/reading about it to organizing protests about it)
– connect it to the readings with citations (Author, Date)

3) respond to at least 2 of your classmates, drawing connections to other issues you see posted, relevant readings, current events, etc. (i.e. don’t just say “that’s interesting!,” bring something to the conversation)

This is the classmate discussion post which I want you to respond:
Fires in Southern California
Living in Southern California has exposed me to multiple fires throughout my lifetime that have threatened my, along with countless others, safety and sense of security. For many, the frequency of these wildfires is alarming and is cause for concern, and rightly so. The issue of the increase in impact of wildfires in Southern California is interesting and pertinent to me, not only because it is one that is close to home, but also because it is an indicator of a much larger problem that we face today: climate change. According to the US Forest Service, the chaparral ecosystem is well-equipped and adapted to recover from fires, and fire can actually be an integral component in the regeneration of the species residing there. However, the increased frequency and intensity that has been observed in recent years is counterproductive to growth, which makes it a topic of interest among scientists. My involvement in this issue has been limited to reading about it in the news and in papers. In addition, while taking a class in Conservation Biology, Dr. Jon Keeley delivered a lecture about the ecological impacts of wildfires in different regions of California. I was reminded of this lecture after reading the introduction of Uncommon Ground, in which the author writes about the prominent wildfires that could be seen from Irvine as scientists convened to discuss the manipulation of ecosystems and the definition of nature (Cronon, 1996). This essay caused me to think about how these issues extend through time, and although scientists have been privy to human degradation of the environment and its implications, it continues to persist today.

I.    Introduction
Review your top three stressors and state why you chose them. Discuss your readiness to change. It is understandable if you are not ready because certain changes take more effort and commitment. So be honest with each stressor. State why or why not you are ready.

II.    Goals, Activities, and Tasks
A.    Create a Goal Statement for each stressor. See page 142 in the text where the author describes writing statements of affirmation. This can help you formulate positive goal statements. Here is a sample Goal statement for the Stressor, Procrastination:
I complete tasks on time and I feel the joy of accomplishment
B.    List all the activities and tasks that you will perform to make the goal happen. Include target dates if applicable. Include tasks from each of the Five Dimensions of health. Keeping with our Procrastination sample:
1.    Spiritual: Pray for motivation and insight
2.    Mental: Keep daily to do list
3.    Physical: burn stress by e xercising; tackle difficult tasks afterwards
4.    Emotional: Repeat positive affirmations
5.    Social: Commitment to doing tasks on time allows more time to socialize; study or work in groups for networking
Do this process for each of the three stressors. Use the text to research your strategies. Do not limit your tasks to just one per dimension as this is only a sample. The text is full of resources so demonstrate your ability to find them. Acknowledge the page # when applicable.

III.    Honest Appraisal
Discuss the reasons you will succeed with your plan. Identify all the resources at your disposal. This can include personal traits that will help you, other people, and tangible resources. Finally, identify potential blocks or barriers and state your strategy for overcoming them

DQ1:

My PICOT statement as related to population health problem. Non-vaccination in ESRD patient causes an increase in hospitalization during influenza season, increase in administering vaccination rate for influenza and pneumococcal vaccine by comparing previous two years hospitalization rates that includes admissions related to influenza and pneumonia complications which will help decreasing the overall hospitalization and missed treatment rate secondary to influenza/ pneumonia adverse effects in a two-year flu season period. This supports the population of focus by preventing admissions to the hospital and missed dialysis treatment. The mortality rate in ESRD patients from pulmonary infections is 14- to 16-fold higher than in the general population, it is alarming that there has been a 31% rise in infection-related hospitalization rates since 1994 in this population (Soni et al. 2013). The problem that I have selected is amendable to research based intervention using the PICOT format because this format will help answer the questions proposed by providing possible therapies or interventions.

DQ2

The PICOT I developed in NUR-550 is based on the adolescent population, a decrease in the stigma towards mental health patients through education will ultimately lower suicide rates within 6 months to a year. The change initiative I am proposing is increasing education about adolescent suicide related to anxiety and depression both in terms of treatment options and the reality of this disorder. For both adults and adolescents, a very real stigma exists that has created a barrier for people to seek help. Varying from adults though, is the additive stressors that adolescents deal with separately from anxiety and depression that they have.

By focusing on adolescents, it allows me to specifically address the unique time in their life and the varying barriers they face. I believe in the power of education and that knowledge is power. Adolescents should have every resource and every ounce of knowledge we have to offer on how to get through these times and be able to thrive.

According to the World Health Organization, depression is the fourth leading cause of illness in ages 15-19, anxiety is the sixth for 10-14 year olds, ninth for ages 15-19, and globally suicide is the third leading cause of death for this age population. This topic is a very prominent problem that many people are afraid to talk about, which is why studying research-based interventions is vital to the health of our community. Creating a study based on adolescents has the benefit of easy access through schools, therefore being able to track success. The other reason this is a good topic to investigate is that it is an under-researched topic in both development and mental health literature (Heary et al., 2017). While this creates initial barriers, it makes for research that matters and has the potential to truly demonstration usable community interventions.

In the United States, there are many policies and programs in place to provide financial assistance to individuals in various ways. Some of these policies and programs include tax deductions for children, child care, mortgage interest, marital status, and/or student loans. These examples represent financial considerations the U.S. government provides to specific groups of people in society.

While many individuals appreciate the benefits of the policies and programs indicated earlier, there are many stereotypes associated with people who utilize certain public assistance programs like food stamps, subsidized housing, etc. It is important for social workers to understand the impact these stereotypes have on recipients of and service providers for such programs. Also, it is essential that you have the facts about social welfare policies in order to dispel the myths about recipients of assistance programs.

For this Discussion, review this weeks resources. Consider whether you think means-tested programs, such as the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and Supplemental Security Income (SSI), create dependency among its recipients. Then, think about how the potential perception of dependency might contribute to the stigma surrounding welfare programs. Finally, reflect on the perceptions you might have regarding individuals who receive means-tested welfare and how that perception might affect your work with clients.

Post an explanation of whether means-tested programs (TANF, SNAP, and SSI) create dependency. Then, explain how the potential perception of dependency might contribute to the stigma surrounding welfare programs. Finally, explain the perceptions you have regarding people who receive means-tested welfare and how that perception might affect your work with clients.

You will respond to 2 colleagues, and their post have been uploaded. It does not need to be long.
