Every Good Endeavor Reflection: Cultural Engagement

Kellar (2014) states we must love our neighbor, but Christianity gives us very specific teachings about human nature and what makes human beings flourish. We must make sure that our work is done in line with these understandings. Faithful work, then, is to operate out of a Christian Worldview (p. 21).

The different Christian traditions give somewhat different answers of how we should go about the task of recapturing vocation. The streams are often confusing to Christians, for they are not perfectly complementary to one another (Kellar, 2014, p.21).

We are going to reflect on some of these sentiments that Kellar introduces in Every Good Endeavor.

The third sentiment we are going to look at is: The way to serve God is to work from a Christian motivation to glorify God, seeking to engage and influence culture to that end.

Read Kellar (2014) Chapter 10: A New Conception of Work

What do you make of his thesis that Ultimately a grasp of the gospel and of biblical teaching on cultural engagement should lead Christians to be the most appreciative of the hands of God behind the work of our colleagues and neighbors (p. 198)? Write a 250 to 500-word reflection incorporating one article (doesnt have to be peer reviewed).

Must follow APA 7 guidelines Needs a running head.

Part 1. Economic Data and Business Decision Making (600-800 words)

Read Hughes-Cromwick & Coronados (2019) article on the value of economic data on business decisions. (Attached)

Identify and Discuss examples of economic data used by specific industries to enhance business decision making. (Last 5 years)

Prepare a 600 to 800-word SUMMARY of the research conducted for the key area using a minimum of 5 additional  new peer reviewed journal articles (last 5 years)- Stay within the word count.

There should be an introduction (Remember APA 7 does not allow the word Introduction as a sub header)

Use the title of each research article as the Heading above your Discussion/Response.

Last paragraph Further Research. Identify QUESTIONS the researchers identified as needing further exploration in these areas.

Find five (5) Scholarly peer reviewed articles in this area Within the last 5 years

Discuss the contributions of the 5 additional journal articles and how these articles help to provide additional clarity on the topic.

Each Journal Articles title is the Heading above your response, and this heading is left justified.

(State the name of the Journal Article)

Discuss the Contribution of this article and in a separate paragraph discuss how this article provide additional clarity on the topic.

(State the name of the Journal Article)

Discuss the Contribution of this article and in a separate paragraph discuss how this article provide additional clarity on the topic.

(State the name of the Journal Article)

Discuss the Contribution of this article and in a separate paragraph discuss how this article provide additional clarity on the topic.

Etc. for the remaining 2 journal articles.

Part 2 Annotated Bibliography:  1 paragraph per source. Total of 5 paragraphs

In preparation for writing each of your discussion forums, you should submit an annotated bibliography. An annotated bibliography is a list of sources (books, journals, Web sites, periodicals, etc.) one has used for researching a topic (Annotated Bibliographies, 2020).

For all sources used in your discussion forum you should:

        Provide an APA formatted Citation

Summarizethe source and discuss the research study that was conducted and what the findings were.

Assess the source and discuss how useful it is and how it compares with other sources in your paper.

Reflecton how the source will be useful to you in your forum. How does it help to shape your argument and how are you using it to shape your writing?

A sample APA formatted annotated bibliography can be found here: https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/general_writing/common_writing_assignments/annotated_bibliographies/annotated_bibliography_samples.html

Read through the Case Study entitled Highline Financial Services, Ltd. in Chapter 3 of your textbook. Examine the historical trends this company has experienced for the three products (A, B, C) discussed over the 2 years shown.

Address the following requirements:

Prepare demand forecasts for the next four quarters for all three products, describe the forecasting method you chose and explain why that forecasting method is best suited to the scenario.
Explain why you did, or did not, choose the same forecasting method for each product.
What are the benefits of using a formalized approach to forecasting these products?
Directions:

Your essay is required to be four to five pages in length, which does not include the title page and reference pages, which are never a part of the content minimum requirements.
Support your submission with course material concepts, principles, and theories from the textbook and at least three scholarly, peer-reviewed journal articles. Use the Saudi Digital Library to find your resources.
Use Saudi Electronic University academic writing standards and follow APA style guidelines.
It is strongly encouraged that you submit all assignments into Turnitin prior to submitting them to your instructor for grading. If you are unsure how to submit an assignment into the Originality Check tool, review the Turnitin Student Guide for step-by-step instructions.
Review the grading rubric to see how you will be graded for this assignment.

In assessing the role of women in Beowulf’s world, some readers may be inclined
to suggest that their role is inconsequential. But this is contrary to what other
sources (law tracts for instance) tell us about Anglo-Saxon women. A closer look
at the text might suggest that rather than being inconsequential, the women of
Beowulf play an important political role. That role may be subversive of the
social order or may help achieve it. Find the many references to women in the
text (not all of them play a role in the plot). Use the appropriate references to
discuss their role in the political order. Caveat: Focus. I would suggest that
your outline be based on one important role that women play or perhaps on
several important roles that they play, using the examples of the women to
provide evidence for your conclusions. Or you might examine the role of one
significant female character (e.g., Grendels mother)? Or you write a
comparison/contrast paper, basing your outline on different approaches to a
single role. Or you may focus only on the mention of women who do not play a
role in the plot; that is, consider the digressions involving women. In any case,
your task is to provide substantial insight into a carefully focused topic. Be sure
that you have a thesis. That is a sentence like This paper will examine the roles
of women in Beowulf is too broad.

Write an essay of about 1500 words answering ONE of the four questions listed below. This assignment is not calling for a full-on research essay. It simply offers an opportunity to show, in properly written form, how much you have learned from the course materials about these four founding concepts in planning history. The lectures and assigned readings which are not listed here should be sufficient to answer any of these questions adequately. For those who wish to go a little deeper and gain a better understanding, additional readings are suggested. But there is certainly no need to go beyond these one or two additional readings.
Essays are to be in conventional academic form: double-spaced, standard font, ample margins, and a title page with the student’s name and the essay title. There is no need for a bibliography since the readings are prescribed, but specific points or direct quotations taken from the source material should be cited by in-text references with page numbers.
Be sure to:
Above all, answer your question, all parts of it.
Use as much course material (lectures and readings) pertaining to your question as you can
Remember that details matter and almost always make an essay stronger.
Question:What, in some detail, did Ebenezer Howard envision for his Garden City? What were his overall objectives with this undertaking?
The assigned reading is just two chapters of Howards book, but a digitized version of the entire book is available through the UTL catalogue
Peter Halls book Cities of Tomorrow, excerpted for Week Nine, has an excellent chapter on the Garden City; the UTL has no e-book but has numerous hard copies, in various libraries; past editions are fine

Project 1: Computational Intelligence Methods

i) Artificial Neural Networks, Genetic Algorithms, and Fuzzy Systems are methods which enable the development of Computational Intelligent Systems. Each of these methods is based on a human characteristic(s), maybe different one for each method, which justifiably lays the foundation of the method. (Hint- for the artificial neural networks method the characteristic is the biological neuron of the brain).

For each method identify this human-driven characteristic, elaborate and explain its use for developing a computational intelligence system.
Can the above methods be combined to solve problems?
Can the above methods be combined to develop more advanced computational intelligent systems?
Are you aware of any other computational intelligent systems?
ii) Describe the process that has been followed to implement a Multi-layer Perceptron for handwritten digit recognition as presented in the lecture (the code is included in the accompanying Jupyter Notebook ipynb file). Experiment by changing the network’s architecture (number of neurons in hidden layer and number of hidden layers) and comment on how the accuracy of the network is affected by these changes.

Expected length: 20 pages (including figures)
